When I say coral, this is what I mean...not a pastel, girly coral...but a bright sunny coral!
These represent the colors in my bouquet, but also the general colors for the wedding...minus the green
Colors
Coral and white with watermelon (dark pink) and yellow accents

Honeymoon
Two weeks in paradise!!!
Kauai, the oldest island in the Hawaiian Islands, is often called the "Garden Isle" for it's lush, tropical landscape.

Made for the quieter honeymoon, Kauai's natural beauty more than compensates for its lack of nightlife: Slip away to the North Shore and swim with green sea turtles at Ke'e Beach Park. Head south for romantic picnics in the hidden forest of Keahua Arboretum. Have a small-town adventure, including shopping in charming Hanapepe or enjoying a fresh brew at the state's largest coffee plantation.

Kauai is an ideal honeymoon destination for the discriminating couple who also appreciate the beauty of the outdoors. It is a rugged island, yet beautiful in a way that is truly hard to put in words. The beaches of Kauai are among the most stunning in the world, and offer many incredible backdrops.

From Smiths Tropical Paradise Luau web page....

Aloha! Over 50 years ago, Grandpa started our family business in this sacred Wailua River Valley. We created our tropical paradise to celebrate the Hawaiian spirit of aloha that he loved and lived by. Today, four generations of my family continue to honor that tradition with the most famous of Hawaiian celebrations, the luau. We welcome you to share the traditions of our island home and become part of our ‘ohana.

Of course, the heart of any luau is the pa‘ina, the feast, and we’ll make sure you don’t go hungry. Kalua pig roasted in the earthen imu oven. Cousin Gary’s secret recipe for teriyaki beef. Ono mahimahi and tasty chicken adobo. Our family bowl of poi (which Grandma insists you try). We’ll even get some of you up on stage to try some hula moves as dinner winds down.

Food may be the heart of a luau, but music is the soul. Our Hawaiian ancestors preserved their history by passing down songs and chants called mele. At our luau, we celebrate these traditions, as well as the songs and dances from other cultures that live in our tropical paradise. The lyrical sway of the Hawaiian hula, the colorful precision of the Tahitian drum dances and the fiery emotion of the Samoan fire knife dance all speak deeply of the people who have come to call Hawaii home. We proudly share this rhythm of aloha with you.

A note from me....
The luau provides a huge meal, great authentic entertainment plus an open bar! What more could you ask for?

Wedding Venue
Hanalei Bay, Kauai
Of all the incredible Kauai beaches there is one that stands out as the crowning jewel of them all. It is of course, Hanalei Bay on Kauai’s north shore.

Hanalei Bay is Kauai’s largest crescent shaped sandy beach. In the summer time Hanalei is very calm with little surf activity, as is the case with most of Kauai’s northern beaches at this time of year. In the wintertime Hanalei beach is usually pounded by big powerful ocean swells. Some of the Kauai’s best surf spots on are found along this beach.

Hanalei beach is a Kauai beach famous for a great many things. It is a Hawaii beach that has been immortalized in song, legend and myth. It was revered by the Hawaiian Alii (kings) years ago and is revered by many today. There was even buried treasure found off of its pristine sandy shores. King Kamehameha II sunken royal ship had been found near the pine trees beach area of Hanalei Bay.

On the other side of the famous Kauai beach is the “black pot” area of the beach. There is an old pier that goes a short way out from the beach and is a popular spot for the local youth to jump off of. Near that is a small river that lets out into one of the most famous waves in Hawaii, aptly called Hanalei Bay. Towards the middle area of the bay, much of the white sand collects and the beach tends to be a little wider there. This area is called “pine trees”. Continuing to the northern end of this beloved Kauai beach area a few small streams then finally a area called “Waikokos Beach” This famous Kauai beach offers so much to explore that you really need a full day to beach comb and swim.

Beachy keen!
This is about as close as I can get to how I will have my hair. I am not sure yet if I will have real flowers (matching with my bouquet) or this pin in my hair with all but a little of my hair down.

This will be the color scheme of my bouquet. The green represents ferns and other native greenery.
something like what the bouquet will look like, plus red ginger flower, yellow roses and greenery
red ginger flower
Another example of what the bouquet could end up looking like..with red ginger flower and yellow roses.
Very similar, but not quiet there....
Flowers
White cala lillies, red ginger flower, yellow and coral roses.
I have yet to find a picture of a bouquet that has all of the flowers in it that will be in my bouquet, so you have to kind of use your imagination!

He has such good taste!
Virgils wedding band
Ring
1.5 carat
Virgil proposed to me on June 1st, 2007. He didn't have a ring because he knew I had a unique taste in jewellery. The next day, we went to JB Robinson to pick the ring out together. I tried several on and while the sales person distracted me, Virgil went to the counter and purchased this in a perfect size 6.5. I was so excited, I was secretly in love with this ring, but thought it was too pricey! Later, when I asked him how he decided on this ring....he said "none of the other rings made your eyes light up the way this one did"!

Wedding Dress
White with a coral colored sash
When I went to Davids, I tried on about 5 different dresses and thought I had made my mind up. But, this dress was on a mannequin right outside my changing room and each time I came out, I couldn't take my eyes off of it! It was unlike any dress I had tried on and it was the total opposite of the one I had decided on. I really had thought I had made my mind up, but last minute, asked Heather, my wonderful Davids Bridal consultant, if I could try one more on. Once I had it on, I felt I looked like a true bride! I knew this was the one. My mother, who was there with me, said she had kept looking at it too and had fallen in love with it before I had even tried it on! I even went back to Davids a few days later to try other dresses on just to make sure I had made the right choice. Sure enough, I didn't want to take it off! I cannot wait to see how the dress looks in my wedding pictures. I opted for the no train option and although I am not sure yet, think I will use a coral colored ribbon for the dress. What's even better is that the flowers on the dress look like hibiscus, which is the state flower of Hawaii!
