WEDDING WEBSITE RUINED!!!
So much for having it
Listen to this ladies....

so I purchased our website from wedorama.com a little over a year ago. My future hubby wasn't exactly thrilled that we have to pay for a website since there are plenty that are free. however, I told him that it would be so much nicer if we have our own special domain. So purchased it for 70 dollars and we were happy with it. Everything was going well and of course we put them on our save the date, bridal shower, and wedding invitations...

a little under a month ago, I got an email that the website is about to expire. I new that I have to renew it since it was over a year go and we still need it to be up until the actual wedding. so I renewed it and guess what... wedorama is NO longer wedorama - - instead it is now wedding tracker!! I didn't really care that it changed name... as long as our website isn't affected... so I got the renewal price... and I was like.. ok.. moving on... but then it told me that i have to RECREATE my website!! i was like... WTF?!?!?! But I kept going, being calm and maybe I just need to be a little more patient. Out comes to find out that i actually have to register ANOTHER domain name!! so of course my original domain is NO LONGER available!! Cuz THAT would just be too easy, won't it!! I tried multiple times and it's telling me that my website... the one that is printed in ALL of my wedding announcements... is no longer valid....

so I emailed both wedorama and wedding tracker... and i HOPE to get an answer to this dilemma. I just couldn't think of a reason why they would merge and not have the websites transfer over??

Did anyone else experience this?? I need to calm down...

Damask Cardbox done!
YAY! My first DIY project is finally finished!!
It took me FOREVER to finish this. Primarily because I only probably worked on it about half an hour each time. But 2 months later, after the final glue and the cake topper, it's finally finished!

Last winter, I bought the boxes from Hobby Lobby on clearance from their after Christmas sale. I got the 3 boxes for about $15! What a steal! Then I bought the spray paint. I was skeptical at first because I've never really used spray paint before, but I was very please with the results. It dried to squickly and I love the glossy look. I ran into a couple problem though. when I stacked the bottom two boxes, I decided to paint it again, and some of the paint got bubbly. I wasn't really sure what happened but that's probably one of the reasons why I decided to put it off. I was so discouraged that I was actually going to just order them. But I decided that I would much rather spend the $150+ on something else. =) So I kept going back to Michaels, and used their coupon whenever I needed something.

I also had a hole on the second box but changed my mind. Instead, I got the actual hole on the top along with the cake topper. I got the damask at Hobby lobby for about $10 during the same after Christmas sale and there's so much left so I might use them to wrap the thank you gifts to the sponsors.

The cake topper was wood and spray painted it and put some bling that I happen to find at Michaels on clearance. The big flower was an ornament that was also on sale and I thought it was too beautiful (and cheap) to pass on and I knew I would find a use for it. The 2 small ones were $1 on Michaels that I just found last week. I was going to use cabinet knobs as the foot for the cardbox but the lightbulb turned on and I found the perfect footer! It was on the cake/baking aisle in Michaels and I used the 40% coupon so I got it for about $1.80 or something like that.

There's a lace that I added on top. This acts like the icing.. lol... it was hard to cover the top AND the side so I've cut the top and glued it and had the lace to hide the cut marks.

overall, I am very pleased with the way it turned out. =) Now we're just hoping that our cake will be bigger than this..lol

DIY Wedding
What other DIY can be done?
So I'm trying to figure out what else I can do to cut our budget. I've done Save the Dates and invitations so far. It looks like our favors are going to run about $700 since they're only chocolates. But now I'm trying to figure out what other projects we can do to save money and hopefully have enough for our honeymoon.

here are some ideas that I can think of but not really sure how to do them. If you have other ideas, suggestions and instructions, please send them my way. I think I'm crafty enough =)

Wedding Cake
Need ideas for cake
We have our cake tasting appointment this saturday and honestly, I really haven't been on top of my game with cakes. I've been searching for cake designs and these are what i found so far that I like. I'd like it to be simple and elegant, but at the same time, i'm not really sure how they're going to incorporate my wedding colors in it.

My card box is a round cake looking, which I will post once it's done... So i wouldn't mind if I get a square one... or should I stick to round to coordinate?

Orange Wedding Reception Dinner table wars!!

Wedding Reception
Dinner table wars!!
ok, so we decided to take our parents to the tasting since we appreciate and value their opinion. but it got a little out of hand but we are hoping to find the common ground in selecting food.

Our reception's variety of food was surprisingly really good! Our soup is going to be Sweet Red Rosemary pepper soup. I have never had that soup but it was soooo good! it was creamy, sweet with a little kick! It's definitely something different than the normal cream of chicken/broccoli cheddar (no offense ladies) that we have been seeing lately at weddings.

So we were off to a good start. Everyone agreed to it. Next came the salad. We get 2 choices for the salad dressing. Our choice; ranch and rasberry vinigarette. Then came the entree. Oh boy! so much too choose from!! it was exciting and good thing we came hungry! =)
So they brought us 2 types of chicken, salmon, orange ruffy, and filet mignon. everything tasted so good! We had 4 types of potatoes and 3 types of veggies. Mashed, twice baked, baked, and chopped potatoes. I knew that I wanted garlic mashed but the FMIL said that not everyone (meaning her) likes garlic mashed potato so we compromised on twice baked with a hint of garlic. To add colors, we decided to go with beans and carrots.

Now we wanted to do a combo... like surf and turf kind of deal, and my parents didn't agree with me. They said the filet would be too small and people will complain. And I tried (REALLY) hard to tell that the portion is smaller because you're getting the fish. ugh! So she somewhat agreed and we moved on.

Our choice would be Filet and Orange Ruffy. I think this gives it a little different take on the "normal" filet and salmon. There was an argument that people will not like it.... then came the wine. I said I want one red and one white to give it a variety. FMIL likes white zin and i'm a fan of Pinot. THEN came the dessert.... i was actually very excited because i've never had a wedding dessert like this. They had a waffle cone cup, similar to the ones that you'd get at oberweise, with an orange sherbert! They matched my colors!! - brown and burnt orange!! it was sooo cute and we all got excited!

so we have about 2 months to decide on what we want to do and add it in our invitations.

I'm curious to find out how many future brides there are that went to similar issue. What did you do? Follow the parent's?? In laws?

6 more months!
haven't been posting... Sorry!
Hello everyone!

I feel so out of the loop cuz I really haven't been posting in here... But i actually have a bit done, but not enough and I apologize.

So to keep y'all up to speed, here is what i've done so far...

= had our tasting on March 11th - I'll make a separate blog for that... too much that happened.
= finishing up my DIY invitations (done 120/180.. not bad)
=bought my aisle runner - see other blog

I started taking 2 classes for my MBA this session and that has kept me VERY busy. With my full time job, I'm not sure I can keep taking 2 classes and continue to plan my wedding. But i'm very fortunate that my FOB is very helpful and supportive on our wedding planning and my schedule since he is also finishing up with his MBA as well.

My Save the date!
love it!
It's been a little while since my last post and I actually completely forgot to add my save the date! When we got engaged, we went gung ho (as stated previously) and I actually knew exactly what I wanted for my save the date... scratch off cards! It's one of the only few ways we can incorporate VEGAS since that's where we met.

So I thought, it would be so cool if we can have a scratch off and they reveal our wedding date! So attached are the what we ordered. We're actually just going to send them to out of towners. But now i'm thinking that I should just send them to everyone. What do you think?

We used the picture that was taken from our first date! I got 2 designes because I couldn't decide which one I like better.. The top one will have heart shaped scratch off sticker and the bottom one has the regular circle scratch sticker. btw.. i LOVE polka dots too!

it reads..

A wish come true and a love so real,
Our special date is for you to reveal!

then it has our website link.

Selecting a color
Help! I can't decide!
So here is my dilemma. I originally picked Burgundy and gold as my colors... but found out that someone that we know that is also getting married in the same month is having the same color... (burgundy)

so I'm thinking about changing it... Since my wedding is in September, I thought the burnt orange and brown would go really well even though they're not my personal favorite... it's very pretty and it goes very well with the season...

I really wish that I can have my pink incorporated in the wedding... but i guess it's not exactly the color of the season =( or can i have it??

if I can get away with pink, i would probably do the pink, black, and damask... oh i love it!

Orange My First Post! Getting it together

My First Post!
Getting it together
So I've been browsing through w.b.c and I was so inspired that I went and got my own account! YAY!

So first things first...

I'm getting married to the man of my dreams on 09-19-09... isn't it sooo cool??! =) we met in vegas about 4 years and 9 months ago and we recently got engaged last May in vegas as well!

The first couple months, we were all gung ho about the wedding plans and we actually got a lot done! We booked the church, reception, photographer, and DJ. We went to the Philippines for my brother's wedding and actually found someone that will do our invitations for a $1 which includes everything but the thank you notes! so it's all good so far... but now it's all about getting it all together and the final touches...

We plan on getting our first home as well so there's a lot of money that is going to be dropped and so I have to be VERY money conscious when it comes to the details and such.

I'm hoping to get a lot of ideas from here, esp. the DIY stuff. =)
