Today we visited Coltsford Mill. This venue is half an hour away from where we live, which is a good distance away. When we arrived I was not very impressed with the outside appearance. Some of it looks a lot newer than other parts, and I think if a venue is going to update one part they should update the whole building to keep it looking presentable.
However, I was thoroughly impressed with the staff. They were so friendly and treated us like royalty. I think because it is a family run business they really go to lengths to make sure guests are made to feel welcome. Unlike the previous venue we dont have a choice of rooms. The reception would be held in the barn, shown here. I'm not a huge fan of this room. I think it's just too rustic for my taste with all the beams. I know many people like that style but I can't imagine a room like this looking as grand as we want it. I'm sure with the seats dressed up with chair covers and ribbons it would look slightly better, but I'm not convinced.
The grounds are truly beautiful, with ponds and even a little bride, making a perfect setting for photographs. I do love the fact that you can really tell it is a family run venue, but I'm just not sure it's me.
Also, the cost is more than the previous venue at £3450 for a Sunday in December.
