This is by far the grandest venue we have visited so far, and it is only 20 minutes away from our home.
As soon as we arrived I literally gasped because it was like approaching a castle. I was so impressed I was already imagining what it would be like to get married there. I loved it before having even stepped foot inside the building.
However, my opinion changed quite a lot once we were inside. It was just as grand inside as it was outside, but the staff were nowhere near as friendly as previous venues. First off, they explained how they couldn't take ages showing us around since they had another couple waiting to view it as well. Call me a diva, but I think a venue should treat all of its couples as if they were royalty. That is how we felt with the others, but with this venue we felt as if we were being a hassle.
I understand that if we were having our wedding there wouldn't be any other people for the staff to rush off to tend to, but I am concerned about the service we and our guests will recieve on the day. They weren't at all friendly, and I just didn't get the same feel from them.
This is a package venue (so included in the price is food, drink, chair covers etc.) and for 80 guests on a Sunday in December it would cost £6999. This also includes 5 complimentary bedrooms for our guests, so it is very good value.
My second is if the service was great is this the venue you want?
If so I would give them a second chance make an appointment and go and see it again. If the service is still bad good chance it will be for the wedding.
By the way I love the venue. If we had places like here I would so book somewhere like that.
