I agree with you on the lighting in the second picture. I am doing specialty lighting, not in the dining area (my place has separate rooms). The lighting would not have worked in the dining area since it has a ton of large windows it would not have the same affect. I am however, doing pink lighting in the dance floor area which I think will look pretty cool.
