DIY Wedding
First projects...
Well I've committed to our first DIY wedding projects. I made a stop at Goodwill today & picked up 4 white ceramic plates & 4 fun martini glasses. These are the preliminary cake pedestals that will hold our cupcake bouquet centerpieces.

Corey is going to paint them to match our colors. =)

Also on his to-do list is making me the base to my "Here Comes the Bride" sign our flower girl & ring bearer will carry.
ANDDDD his parents just so happen to have an old mailbox laying around to hold our cards. It just needs a little TLC.

Only 5 more days until I try on wedding dresses for the first time!!
I've got butterflies!

Wedding Gift Registry
...& shoes!!
Well we're officially registered at Bed, Bath, & Beyond. It was fun picking out things for our future together. But thank goodness for the registery woman Melissa who walked us through all the necessary items for the major rooms. Without her we probably would have been there for umm 6 hours! We're thinking about registering at another place or two...

How many places are you or do you suggest registering at?

I picked out my shoes too!! Since Corey & I are "country" I was going to be wearing my white cowboy boots (that match the ones Corey will be wearing) but after debate and discussion I've decided that I want to feel "girlie" on my wedding day. So I picked out zebra print heels to go along with the venue and then I'll put on my boots for the reception.

I'm also considering doing a dress change for the reception..

How do you feel about second dresses?

Vows & Wine
Corey & I are supposed to meet with our officiant next week. I'm sure he's going to ask how we want our ceremony to flow. Wellllll....this isn't something I've thought about. The only thing I've considered is that I want the ceremony to be short & sweet so I can smooch my man & get onto the party!!

I'm really unsure if we should write our own vows or not. I think it would be so sweet to hear Corey say what he really feels, but I don't want to put pressure on him in front of a lot of people. He carries himself as if he has no emotions, but you should be a fly on the wall at home. =)
Also, I'd be a big bawl bag reading what vows I'd write. Now that I think of it...I've never been to a wedding where they write their own vows.

We've also been throwing around ideas about unity candles and crap...
I think it's all cliche and useless because things like that typically get thrown away or lost in a move.
But I came across the idea of a wine and love letter box. You're supposed to place a bottle of your favorite wine (or hard alcohol =)) and sealed, unread love letters into a wooden box. The box is then sealed by the couple and not opened until the 5th wedding anniversary. It can also be opened if there's ever a rough time in the marriage to remind the couple of how much they loved each other the first day they were married.
Love it!

Flowers & such..
It's hard finding flowers that will match my wedding party. I've considered having everyone carry bouquets of white daisies. But then I found a beautiful bouquet of flowers online.
<----

What do you think? It's hard making this decision since flowers won't really be anywhere else in the ceremony or reception. (You'd think it would be an easy decision.)

I made our invitations in Word last night. I copied off a design from vistaprint.com that I really liked, but wasn't available in our colors. But, the formalwear shop that my groom & the rest of the boys are getting their tuxes from offer free invitations with 6 rentals. So...I guess the ones I've made are only back-up, just in case the shop doesn't offer any invitations that catch my eye. It won't cost too much more printing invitations myself...
We'll see.

My appointment to try on wedding dresses is February 5...
Guess I should go work out... =)

5 months to go!
Well almost 5 months to go...
That's ONE hand! Oh my...!

This week 2 of my bridesmaids picked out their (matching) dresses at David's Bridal. The girls will wear the aqua blue and the boys will wear lime green. My MOH (and only sister) and I agreed that she should wear a different dress. Then of course my 4th bridesmaid is a male...so he will wear his tux. =)

I've finally decided on my centerpieces, which has been a STRUGGLE! Since I started wedding planning I've wanted cupcakes to be somewhere in the wedding. Well to help cut costs we're going to opt for cupcake centerpieces...disguised as flowers! (so cute!!)

It may not seem very cost cutting-ly, but since I'm a cake decorator this can be a task for the wedding party and myself =)

(I won't be doing my own cake though...I can't deal with that stress)

We want our wedding to make people feel young and wild again. We're going with BRIGHT green & BRIGHT blue. Yes, we're having our wedding at the Zoo (which has no ties to our relationship). But, what's more "kid-like" than being at a zoo?!?! We just want people to come to our wedding and talk about how much fun they had for years to come.
