According to the article for a 10K celebration, this is about what should be spent. And remember "This is just a guide. You may wish that flowers are highly important for your event and spend twice as much than what is presented below. "
Reception (food, drink, site) and wedding planner $4,200
Photography/Videography $900
Entertainment (DeeJay) $900
Bride’s Gown, accessories $800
Flowers $600

Gifts for attendants, parents $500
Favors, decorations $400
Wedding Cake $400

8. Future MIL is a talented seamstress and is making the bustle on my dress and sewing table runners or whatever else we decide to use for tables
9. I have 3 venues that i'm going to checkout next month that are beautiful but cheap! ($800 for 12 hour saturday rental at an old antebellum mansion with chairs and tables included, $100 for 5 hrs/$25 each additional hour at an outdoor venue in a rose garden with gazebo and pavillion, or a restaurant/venue that is $800 for the whole day)
10. i'm buying things from other brides and checking out flea markets, etc for unique antique decoration items
these are just a few, but if you try you can really save a lot of money!
I don't think a wedding planner is necessary. Maybe I read wrong, but you said you still have a lot to do. Isn't that the planner's job? I'm not quite sure what you included there in the $4200 but our reception venus is $550 to rent which does include security. Our tablecloths for 25 round tables are $321.25. I'm guessing the banquet tablecloths will be about $169. I haven't calculated anyfood. The centerpieces for just the round tables are $252 which includes shipping.
Photography/Videography $900--->No videography for me. Photographer is $900 for six hours guaranteed 75 pictures per hour.
Entertainment (DeeJay) $900--->My DJ is only charging me $125. He is a co-worker :) and normally charges $250 but he is giving me a 50% discount. That is my gift he said.
Bride’s Gown, accessories $800-->My dress alone was $872. I haven't purchased: shoes, undergarments, or tiara/veil.
Flowers $600--->I am using artificial flowers. I am ordering off of ebay from the lady doing centerpieces. She is charging me about $250 dollars for the bride bouquet, maid of honor bouquet, a jr. bridesmaid bouquet, 6 other bridal bouquets, a toss bouquet, 4 mother's corsages, groom bout, best man bout, and 10 other bouts. She's an awesome lady to put up with my pickiness :)
Transportation $600-->Can't afford anything special. 0.00 Not to mention the church is literally a walk away from my home and a walk away from the reception venue.
Gifts for attendants, parents $500--->I don't know yet here. :(
Favors, decorations $400--->I included centerpieces with reception up top. The favors were $20.00 a box. I purchased 6 boxes...so $120.00. I haven't purchased the candy to fill them, but that's about another $150.00. Plus the CDs I bought at 3 packs of 100 for 23.88 which is $71.64. I don't remember how much a pack of 50 labels costed, but I need to buy more packs plus the cost of ink which is $35.00.
Wedding Cake $400 --->My hubby's Mom is buying it. $562.50
Invitations, Thank you cards $300--->Invitations, reception cards with lined envelopes (225 of each) $299. This doesn't include stamps.
Officiant service $300--->Ceremony site $475
Groom’s tuxedo, accessories--->Free from Al's Formal Wear due to large bridal party.
