Wedding Flowers
Red Carnations

Real or fake...real or fake...

That has been the question on my mind.

Does fake scream CHEAP to you???

Anywho..my sister met with the florist (her neighbor) and it seems
as if they florist is now trying to charge for her services..she wasn't
in the beginning.

Anywho..150 stems at costco would be $75..She said we would
probably need at least 3-4 orders..running us at least $300, and
my mother says that spending that much is ridiculous when we
can get one stem (that has a least 7 flowers) from the dollar tree
and spend about $80.

My breakdown:
13 boutineeres
7 corsages
8 bouquets
1 bouquet for me
1 toss bouquet
8 centerpieces (silver bowl)
8 trees

$300/$400 vs. $80....real vs. fake....elegant vs. cheap???

I'm torn on the idea...

Me being the budget queen, I'd say going fake is cool. You can really jazz it up with a touch of love. So far you have some nice creations going so I'd say, GO FOR IT!

i'm having the hardest time finding fake carnations..

the only place i've seen them is dollartree..which is ok..because for $1 I can get 7 flowers..

every other place is pricing for just 1 flower

I think it depends how good the fake ones look...if they look good I say go for it.  I would do my bouquet and the toss bouquet real though

I am doing fake carnations for my bridesmaids boquets. I found some really nice pink ones at Walmart today. They were 3.00 for a bunch. An on that there were 8 flowers. I only bought 1 bunch today just to see how i ended up liking it. I think they will work great. i will post pictures in a few days.

I think going fake is okay, but it depends on the quality of the fakes. Some of them look really tacky.

Some of the flowers at the Dollar Store look great. Make one from there and see if you like it. I just left the florist and they want $200.00 for a simple rose bouquet for me. WTH. I thought I was gonna go w/ real for me & groom and fake (hopfully from dollar store-Been looking for a year now). for the bridal party & decorations. I can't find purple flowers though. Good luck.

i say mix it up. use some real and some fake - best of both worlds. also, use inexpesnsive fillers

I'm going all the way artificial. I'm using 7 stem bushes of red carnations I found at Old Tyme Pottery for $1.80 a bush and I bought every red carnation Dollar tree had and I've only come out of $100. I figured they'll die if they were real so why not get artificial and reuse them around the house or something!!! It really comes down to your personal preference not your guests'.
