The wedding planning has been on hold lately. My father has been quite ill and I myself am having an operation on Wednesday... On a positive note, Mikey & I just bought a house!!! We're really excited. We were going to wait until after we got married, but we've just had enough of this apartment and our doggies need more space and a yard of their own. It's been taking up an awful lot of my time, plus my long work hours have made any other planning impossible. I hope everyone's wedding plans are going well!!! I'll be back in the swing of things soon... xo

Ask a Question - Has anybody seen Three Fat Brides, One Thin Dress?? http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sallysweet/milestones/22518 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sallysweet/milestones/22518 Wed, 27 Aug 2008 18:30:00 PST I was just watching television and saw this program "Three Fat Brides, One Thin Dress" and it's hilarious!!! They get three brides who desperately need to lose weight and get them in competition with each other to win a beautiful dress... but along they way they're learning how to eat properly and exercise, etc. It's also great for us brides who are looking for healthy eating tips, this woman, Gillian McKeith, is fabulous!! Check it out!!! I think it's on the Womens Network... up in Canada anyhow, not sure about the US. It's an English show, so I'm sure all you UK brides to be have seen it!

Reception - I think I've finally found our venue... phew! http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sallysweet/milestones/22512 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sallysweet/milestones/22512 Wed, 27 Aug 2008 17:41:00 PST After a very frustrating and deflating ordeal, I think we've finally found our wedding ceremony and reception location!! It's actually right at the civic centre in a very 'central' location for all our guests and it's beautiful! We get married at the chapel on the lower level of this building and then the reception is up on the top floor with a 360 degree view of the city and grounds.... and a GREAT price. It includes cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, open bar, wine at the tables, four course dinner, table linens and decorations, votive candles, midnight coffee service and sweets table and more! It is completely all inclusive and there's lots of room for our band to play as well, which was important to us! The photos don't do it justice, but I just love it and I feel like a huge weight is lifted off my shoulders!! YAY!!!

Bridal Gloves - Such a classic and classy look http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sallysweet/milestones/22337 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sallysweet/milestones/22337 Tue, 26 Aug 2008 17:25:00 PST I am in love with little wrist length white gloves and am definitely going to wear them with my dress... I also want my bridesmaids to wear gloves as well, but I'm having a hard time deciding if I should have them wear the same style or something slightly different?

I am in love with these dress and can't wait for my girls to wear them!! I'm a little nervous/unsure because I wanted to wear a tea length dress myself... and it's not THAT different than these, but I'm also considering a long dress now... especially now that we're getting married in November.

A little help goes a long way... http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sallysweet/milestones/21461 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sallysweet/milestones/21461 Wed, 20 Aug 2008 02:36:00 PST Just like all FB's I've been stressing about money and costs and planning... but mostly money!! How we're going to come up with it for our wedding, setting budgets, blah blah... I've been putting in a lot of overtime since January. We landed a major national account with the largest bank in Canada - and with being the head of customer service, meant I was heading it up alone for quite some time while training the team. This has made for many sleepless nights and FAR too many early/late days at the office... BUT, yesterday morning when I arrived at work and thought "I wonder how many hours I've been putting in on average over the last few months"....so I calculated from April 1st until yesterday (which is being very generous to the company!!) and found out that I had put in something like 200 - 300 OVERTIME hours!!! Had it had been 40 or so, I would have said "bah, forget it, it's part of the job" so I mentioned it to one of my bosses and I think they are going to elect to pay me out for my hours - which means I'll be getting anywhere from $4500 - 7000 in one lump sum!!!! That's a HUGE portion of my wedding paid for, YAY!!!!!!!!! It's nice to get some good news after many months of stress and worry.

Ask a Question - Photobooths... Seems like fun? http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sallysweet/milestones/20448 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sallysweet/milestones/20448 Tue, 12 Aug 2008 08:15:00 PST So I've seen a few posts about having a photo booth at their wedding reception and I think it's a fabulous idea!! I think I'd like to have a black & white traditional strip style photo booth. Are any of you considering this? Anybody have any concerns about having one? I looked into local costs and it seems like it will be about $1200 - 1500 for a 3 hour rental with unlimited photos within those 3 hours. It says 3 hours will cover up to 120 guests. We only plan on having about 80.

Starting from scratch... - Decisions, decisions, decisions... http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sallysweet/milestones/20404 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sallysweet/milestones/20404 Tue, 12 Aug 2008 05:00:00 PST I was having dificulty trying to decide what kind of wedding to have, going back and forth with idea after idea... then I finally realized that I should just plan for what is natural to Mikey and I. That is how we came up with the old Hollywood glamour/40's/50's style, which is pretty much what our lifestyle is like! We're going to have a great band play that plays mostly 50's era music and that we know pretty well. Our decor is going to be mostly black, white and red with accents of silver. I feel a lot more relaxed now that I have made this decision and, am for once, happy about planning our wedding!! It was getting far too complicated and stressful - on the day that is supposed to be the ultimate act of love and devotion - not anger and stress! I feel a lot better now :)

The Proposal - How I went from happy to happier! http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sallysweet/milestones/19201 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sallysweet/milestones/19201 Sun, 03 Aug 2008 18:44:00 PST I had been planning on having my half-sleeve tattoo started with a local artist, but at the very last minute decided that maybe I should look elsewhere for someone who specialized in traditional tattoo-style. Then I remember 'that guy Mikey' I had met through friends very briefly on a drunken Toronto-Rockabilly night, who tattoos! He was still on my friends list on myspace, so I typed, and re-typed (about 10 times) him a message asking his thoughts on a piece I wanted and prayed that he wouldn't think I was a loser... but to my surprise he replied saying "that sounds awesome!! I'd love to do that piece!! Come into the shop tomorrow so I can trace your arm". My heart sank, I was terribly excited and terribly nervous all at once! So I went in, and like a scene in a stereotypical romantic film, the moment we looked at each other face to face, we knew we liked each other... he traced my arm and the following weekend he scared my arm and stole my heart for life... In the beginning we just hung out - went to see local rockabilly bands, hung out with friends, etc.. but we one night we had a bit too much to drink at a local well-known magicians house and there must have been magic in the air because we ended up kissing...the rest is history, so they say!! We have spent almost every moment together since and I love him more and more everyday. A year later, on May 14th, on our anniversary, Mikey got up really early. If you knew him, you'd know something was up!! He sleeps until about 5 minutes before he has to leave for work in the morning... I was wandering around doing my thing getting ready for work and spotted him pacing back and forth... before I could get the words 'what's up?' out of my mouth, he grabbed me and kissed me. I giggled... but then he dropped to one knee and I gasped! From this moment on I don't really remember anything he said, all I could hear was my inner voice saying 'OH MY GOD OH MY GOD' hehehe then he pulled out the ring... I was so excited!!! I just belted out "YES!!!" We both laughed and kissed and it was fantastic!!!! What a great way to celebrate our anniversary!!! By making a new one!!! Now I just can't wait to become Mrs Lavender!!!! :) ]]>
