New Wedding Venue
Finally....
As I posted a while ago, the venue we had booked cancelled on us. Luckily we still had time to book a new place, but they held on to our deposit for 3 months. We just got the money back and were able to book at a new place. We are now getting married at The Dominion House. It is such a beautiful place, it was built in 1923 as a children's home and then closed in 1978. It was then bought in 2000, and was renovated and opened for weddings in 2005. I love it!!!!

Wedding Dress
Time to make a decision..
My mother and grandmother are visiting, so we went to go look at some dresses today. I had tried on the Pronovias once before, and loved it. Then I tried on the Casablanca today, and I think I have made up my mind. I just love the detail of it and then way it sparkles, it also has an amazing train and it's lace!!
I look so silly, but I couldn't stop smiling lol. |

In need of some advice..
Trevor and I have set the date and put down the deposite at our venue.
The date is 10/10/10. Unfortuantley our venue has gone into foreclosure and are trying their best to sell, in the mean time we found a new venue and want to put down a deposite. Right after Trevor and I booked our first venue, his father was called away on duty for a year in Iraq. I know to some people I am going to seem like a very selfish person right now, and I appoligize to those I may offend. Trevor and I have been waiting and waiting to set a date only because his parents would not happily approve of us getting married earlier. My family on the other hand do not understand why there wasn't a date set sooner. We are at a loss as to whether or not we should keep our date. His father will get time to come home, but says he has no idea if they will allow him to take it when he wants. We told him if he told us a date when he knew he could take his leave, we would switch it to that date. His parents seem to have no interest in the wedding at all, never really have. So it is so hard to even talk to him about him and his leave. I truly do not know how anything military works, and all I want is for him to try. Maybe that isn't possible though, I just don't know. Another thing I am taking into consideration is that my family (in terms of grandparents) is significantly older then his. We both want my grandma's to be at our wedding, and to be able to remember our wedding. I am just so lost right now. We want to be happy, but this is just making it so difficult. I guess I just feel as though we are struggling with this and trying to make them happy, and trying to take everything into consideration, but at the end of the day they just seem not to care at all, which isn't anything new at all. It has been like this since we got engaged almost two years ago. I just know that him leaving is something he has to do and I pray he will be safe. So I just feel like we will be horrible if we keep this date. I need advice. I feel like a horrible person once second and then a bitter one in the next. It is just so confusing. What would you ladies do in this situation? |

We still need to tie up some loose ends with our wedding venue but OMG, I am so excited!! Tomorrow I'm so going to be saying " We're getting married in less then a year". I don't care if it's only minus one day lol. I'm saying it!! I am so excited :) |

Wedding Venue Mishap

Trevor and I finally set the date in stone as I posted earlier this month. We got the date we were dreaming of and the place is beautiful....
Well, a letter comes in the mail today and long story short the owners of our wedding venue are being forced to sell and have to cancel a chunk of their 2010 brides. Since our wedding date is almost exactly a year away, we are in that chunk. One of the owners informed me they are meeting with a prospective buyer on Friday, and that if that pulls through he will most likely keep the 2010 weddings as scheduled. So after my initial breakdown my fiance calmed me down and said there are other options. I had heard about another beautiful venue, so I went online to take a look. BAD IDEA. I am not the kind of person that looks and looks for something. I find something I love and tend to stick with it. After seeing this place though, I am so confused. I don't know what to do now. Should I take a look at this new place? Or just wait to see how our orginal venue plans pan out? P.S. How unethical is it for a place to willingly schedule weddings and take deposits knowing this was a possibility. They can claim it came from out of nowhere, but really???? Foreclosure....That means you weren't paying something you should have been!!!! We only booked this place last month. |

We finally booked a place!!
I haven't been on here in forever. We were having so many problems trying to set a date in stone, so we kind of just stopped and waited for things to settle down a little. Well, this past week we looked around. We had heard many great things about Coles Garden, but had never actually gone down to see it. We decided to go and take a look, and it is so beautiful. The place as a whole is a huge garden, set in the middle is a waterfall that flows into a pond. We were able to choose which area we wanted to have the ceremony in, we chose by the pond and waterfall. Our reception will be in the Royal Reception Room. I am just so excited about it!! We are hoping we will not have to the change the date, but if we do, they will allow us to trasfer the deposit.

Young and Engaged..
While this has not recently caused me to get very angry in the more recent days. It has many times over the last year. After sitting down and talking to my sister, it is now fresh in my mind.
I have such reservations about telling people my age. Normally people think I'm much older then I actually am. Which almost works in my favor when it comes to anything wedding related. I hate it when a complete stranger looks down at my ring and asks how old I am, you can tell by the tone in their voice that they are just steaming with disapproval. Sometimes I'm just in the none of your business mood, and other times I get so freaking mad, and gladly tell them my age with the same nasty attitude they just gave me. I'm 19. I've been engaged since I was 18, and we are getting married in 2010 when we will both be 21. I understand people are entitled to their opinion, but really when they know nothing about a person why do they think they have the right to say anything. Age is one thing, maturity and responsibility are other things to consider before bashing someone on the choices they make in their life. I think now after being engaged for a year, I might just explode at the next person who even tries to say something on the matter. So my question is: For others who are young and engaged do people ever just put down your decision without really knowing anything about you? Have you ever just wanted to just scream at someone? |

Update..
We Moved!
For so long now I've wanted to get out of Nevada. When you are under 21, living in Las Vegas is almost as good as living in the middle of nowhere. So, for the last couple of months Trevor and I talked about moving and starting our life together somewhere different. We decided on Oklahoma, I have some family out here, and I really just love the change of scenary. Not to mention how friendly people are here. I just love it. I just hope that everything goes as planned, and that we can really make it out here. Time will tell, I'm just going to go on and be my optimistic self.

Inspiration Board
Inspiration Board For Dummies.
I come on Wedding by color pretty much everyday now and I just love looking at all the different inspiration boards!
So pretty much it's 2 a.m and I can't sleep so I decided to make one ( and yes, I do realize our wedding is 723 days away lol). Well I spent the last 2 hours gathering pictures and ideas and I thought I pressed save once I had the board finished. That would be incorrect. I guess it's back to the drawing board haha. Does anyone have any tips as to how they made their inspiration boards? I would greatly appreciate any advice during these first steps :) Thank you! |

Well Trevor and I met our Junior year of High School when we were 16 and had a class together. We really didn't speak much other then the ocassional hello and small talk. That summer I ended up hanging out with Trevor and a bunch of mutual friends. We were pretty much together from that day forward.
Trevor and I ended up moving in together right after High School graduation. I loved our life together and had always hoped to be his wife one day. One night he took me out to dinner which wasn't really that uncommon. When we left the restaurant he opened the car door for me and I turned to get in, when I turned back around he was down on one knee and asked me if I would marry him. It was amazing! He is everything I could have ever hoped for and more. I love him so much and can't wait for the day that we will be husband and wife! |
