Catholic Wedding Mass

uh oh...

My hubby-to-be and I are from 2 separate coasts. I'm a California girl from sunny San Diego and he was born and raised in the Ohio Valley. So every one has been asking us where our wedding will be. Generally, the couple will have the wedding ceremony in the Bride's hometown.

The whole reason we met is because we both attended Franciscan University of Steubenville. I thought it would be neat to get married at the University's "Christ the King" chapel since that is where we have celebrated our faith together so many times. It would be special to both of us as opposed to him getting married at a church I wanted in CA or vice versa.

Besides Theology, our school is notorious for student marriages. Freshmen year the girls joke that they're there for their "MRS" degree. I knew the University's marriage prep classes were required to use the chapel AND i thought reserving the chapel 14 months in advance was a good call since people probably get married there all the time. WELL when I went to talk to the chapel secretary she said "We dont really allow people to get married in the chapel"

This statement is only interesting because online it says: "Those who want to get married in Christ the King Chapel must complete the entire program, while those getting married elsewhere may not need to complete all parts." So obviously I was missing something. I referred her to this online statement and she gave me the classic "Well the chapel board got together and we dont want as many people floating in and out of our chapel. we're busy..." blah blah blah.

After hounding her for another 10 mins she finally caved and said "You *could* get special permission from Fr. Dominic, but we really dont let people get married here that often"

So it looks like i have an appt. with Fr. Dom! Please pray that we get this chapel. Otherwise I dont know what to do about our special wedding Mass!
