Wedding Reception
busy busy BISY
Ok Ladies, say a little prayer because today is a busy wedding day for me! My FH, future in laws and I are going to a potential reception site that the future in laws have been raving about ever since we got engaged. Now, the only reason I am hesitant is because it is at a restaurant attached to the Holiday Inn in Weirton, WV who's motto reads "Wild and Wonderful" right when you cross the state lines. I know i said my wedding a rustic feel but i dont know if i want it THAT rustic. Also, I can't get
Chingy, Snoop Dogg, & Ludacris out of my head any time i think about the Holiday Inn as a potential reception site. *sigh* I'm sure it will be lovely and we already know it fits in the budget so, come what may! Directly afterwards, we will be driving to downtown Pittsburgh to go to this gluten free bakery. I am gluten intolerant which makes finding a wedding cake a little more tricky. My FH is very traditional and prefers a tradition wedding cake to any other dessert. However, its a little difficult for me, so when i found this bakery i was ecstatic. BUT i don't know if they're any good! So we're going to go and try some of their goods. I'm praying that they will be irresistible because i just dont know where i will go to find a gluten free wedding cake unless we have a friend or family member make it for us! [which, would be sweet, no doubt, but i'm much more trusting of a professional] I hope you all are having good luck with your plans! I'm prayin' for all my brides Especially for those who's dates are right around the corner! |

Wedding Dress
I got my gown!
I went with my mom today to pick out a wedding gown and the first one i tried on is the one i ended up getting! I, of course, tried on many more but i couldnt resist the Belle inspired dress! I'm sure you other brides have seen it but i dont want to post pictures in order to surprise my guests and FH.. but i wanted to share the good news with the rest of my brides!
I bought it in California so it will need to be shipped to my house in Ohio and then i will have to personally take it somewhere to be altered back east since that's where the wedding is/ where i am the majority of the time. I also found a tiara/veil to match! I hope you all are having a good time looking for dresses as well! |

Country Vintage Chic
I've decided to take my wedding in this direction. My cousin found this adorable guest box for me [first picture] and i loved the shabby chic feel so much that i decided that was the direction i wanted to take my wedding
This is good for 4 reasons #1 its budget friendly #2 my fiance is a simple man and doesnt care for modern ground breaking themes #3 i'm obsessed with cute vintage feel! #4 i can still incorporate my peacock colors I have spent the majority of my time looking at other weddings and gathering sweet&simple inspiration. This is what i have found so far, My only hesitation is that my reception will be inside due to unpredictable summer Ohio weather. I feel like it is harder to achieve that rustic feel without any outside atmosphere. So wish me luck! Suggestions welcome. |

Bridesmaids
Modest is HOTTEST!
So my mom referred me to this website called shabbyapple.com and they specialize in modest clothing for women. They had some cute dresses that could all go with the peacock theme and since I'm having a hard time narrowing down my color scheme i thought i would come up with a bunch of different outfits for my bridesmaids that were chic, flattering, modest, and that fit into my theme. I figure if i can settle on a more specific theme in the clothing that will make it easier for me to move forward.
So i have three outfits that are significantly different, but all cute and i would really like every one;s opinion! Some feature more brown, more blue, more neutrals, etc... Let me know what you think! |

Bridesmaids
dresses and colors...
i want each bridesmaid to be able to pick a dress that fits their body type. Once i settle on a specific designer i will have them pick whatever dress they want as long as it comes in the color i want from that designer. I want to incorporate all three colors without it looking over the top. I dont know what looks better: more green or less green? I think i want to dominant colors to be blue and purple because blue is Justin's fav color and purple is mine but i just want ya'lls advice

GOOD NEWS
I'm baaaaaack
SO my lovely maid of honor told me to take a break from planning for awhile and just enjoy the company of my fiance. IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM! and every one who prayed, your prayers came through because..... WE GOT THE CHAPEL! The priest in charge of chapel events wants to meet us but i talked to the man in charge of all campus events and he cleared the calendar for us! So our ceremony site will officially be set on monday when we meet fr. dominic.

Catholic Wedding Mass
uh oh...
My hubby-to-be and I are from 2 separate coasts. I'm a California girl from sunny San Diego and he was born and raised in the Ohio Valley. So every one has been asking us where our wedding will be. Generally, the couple will have the wedding ceremony in the Bride's hometown.
The whole reason we met is because we both attended Franciscan University of Steubenville. I thought it would be neat to get married at the University's "Christ the King" chapel since that is where we have celebrated our faith together so many times. It would be special to both of us as opposed to him getting married at a church I wanted in CA or vice versa. Besides Theology, our school is notorious for student marriages. Freshmen year the girls joke that they're there for their "MRS" degree. I knew the University's marriage prep classes were required to use the chapel AND i thought reserving the chapel 14 months in advance was a good call since people probably get married there all the time. WELL when I went to talk to the chapel secretary she said "We dont really allow people to get married in the chapel" This statement is only interesting because online it says: "Those who want to get married in Christ the King Chapel must complete the entire program, while those getting married elsewhere may not need to complete all parts." So obviously I was missing something. I referred her to this online statement and she gave me the classic "Well the chapel board got together and we dont want as many people floating in and out of our chapel. we're busy..." blah blah blah. After hounding her for another 10 mins she finally caved and said "You *could* get special permission from Fr. Dominic, but we really dont let people get married here that often" So it looks like i have an appt. with Fr. Dom! Please pray that we get this chapel. Otherwise I dont know what to do about our special wedding Mass! |

Wedding Reception

OK so I am not familiar with the surrounding area. I'm a California bride smack-dab in the middle of West Virginia and Ohio. The biggest/Best hall that every one keeps telling me about is this St. Florian Hall. I went to a friend's wedding there last weekend who's recption was at this location and I will be attending yet another local wedding this saturday and their reception will also be in this hall. I know is looks wonderful and I can use the hall's already Black and White interior and just add peacock accents everywhere.
Well when i looked into getting this hall there are a few problems: The food MUST come from the owners of the hall and it is slightly above budget. They dont have a liquor license but you can BYOB? They charge extra if you want to bring in your own decorator, and i hear [from other locals who have had their weddings there] that there are other hidden fees as well. So is it worth it? tough to say! It's definitely high up on my list of potential places but i dont know about all these restrictions. I'm a nervous bride! What do you think? |

Pinning down a scheme
What do you think about this table setting? I know i want peacock but i cant narrow down an actual color scheme. I have all of these random inspirations that are all slightly different and I'm stressing out because i dont have a cookie cutter idea that I'm trying to pin down except for "peacock" but every thing i see can go with "peacock". The reception hall is mostly black and white....uhg.
any suggestions? How can i go about pining down a color scheme? |

I wanted to incorporate purple into my theme but i just don't think its going to happen. besides, its better to just keep things simple right?
