Wedding Decoration
Reception Table Decor

I think the table decor is what people notice most when it comes to wedding decoration. Our guests sit for a few hours (in between bouts of dancing) in front of the decorations we put on our reception tables. I am trying to find a way to make our tables elegant without breaking out budget. If possible, I want them to look expensive without actually being expensive.

These are a few ideas I had in mind to make the tables more interesting:

-Candles! Intricate lighting is always a plus. Candlelight really makes everything look more beautiful and feel more lavish.

-Silver mirrors under the centerpieces. This idea mixed with candlelight will hopefully make my floral centerpieces appear fuller and brighter. The light reflects off the mirror, creating these illusions.

-Placing favors right on the table in front of each place setting. This is an inexpensive way to make the table look more full.

-Splurging on linen napkins. Colored table clothes are more expensive than the standard white ones offered at most venues. Instead of buying or renting expensive table linens I am opting to splurge on purple linen napkins. It's an elegant touch without breaking the bank. Another idea would be a single table runner down the center of the standard white table cloth.

-Disposable cameras. Every bride has a different opinion about using these at her wedding. I've decided to do them because it keeps guests occupied and interested throughout down time during the reception. It also helps with table decor because most wedding cameras come with a nice little table card.

-Fillers. This would be things like confetti, flower petals, or other items that can scattered on the table for color and texture.

-DIYing things. It's easy to add little touches to otherwise plain table numbers or place cards.

What are you doing to spruce up your table decor? Also, yes or no to disposable cameras at your wedding?

I love your ideas and seems your headed in the right direction!
I bought organza sashes and orverlays. I got this cute cristal vases that i will add gel pearls as filler and have them full of roses and when I say full i mean full about 24 roses+ per vase. I know im nuts... Also I'm trying to find mints in my color to give them after the dinner. All of this in purple.

About the cameras... Hmm I like the idea but as I heard they might not work at all and could be a waste of money I think i will pass. Is up to you. Just consider buying high quality if you do.

Well, it sounds like you re on the right track!  Do you like tea pots?  Tea pots with your purple flowers would be unusual and elegant on a mirror for the centerpiece.  And you can do all different tea pots instead of all the same... kinda of an eclectic look.  I like the idea of a table runner on white linens.  I can't say yes or no on the cameras... they seem to be a popular theme, but a lot of guests don't remember to take pictures...

Cre8tive - Teapots sound adorable! I would have never thought of that! The idea of a porcelain  white teapot surrounded by candles and flowers seems so elegant!

Faithsophi - That's a lot of roses! But you have the right idea because sticking to one kind of flower rather than filling your vases with three or four different kinds will probably save you some money.

Im doing the Tea Pot thing, to go with the British high tea we are serving instead of a whole meal.  different Pots on each table with roses... and 3 cups with saucers to go round.

P.S. the beaded vase is realy cute reminds me of the bangles you can buy at a shop that sells East Indian Clothes. For about $5.00
