Wedding Dress
silver or black? train or no train?
I know I know.. I said I'd spend a week away from wedding stuff but we haven't left yet so I still get to have wedding brain for a few more hours! lol.

I thought I had it pretty much decided as to which dress I was going to get. It was obvious- the one i posted previously is cheaper, cute & simple. But after much debating with my mother and her bitching and whining about how I might as well just wear a prom dress if I'm not going to have a train I'm sorta rethinking my decision. I know I definitely want something with a sash of some kind. I know I don't want to spend more than $300 which puts most designers out of price range. Sure, there's lots of pretty dresses out there for ridiculous costs, but as jaded as I'm feeling now- I don't see the point in spending anymore than $300 on a dress I'm going to wear for one day. Especially if I can't wear it again. I want something extremely simple. No beading, no rhinestones, no embroidery, definitely no sequins. Lace is somewhat okay if it's in moderation. What is so difficult to understand about that? I've tried on well over 100 dresses now, and hated almost every one of them. I'm sick of getting bitched out by shop assistants about how I have no taste in fashion and how I need to let them dress me- even if its something I wouldn't ever wear in a million years.

There's a davids bridal dress that I've tried on a few times. I like it a lot but it's not perfect. I *hate* the cuff across the bust. if it was plain, it would be much, much better.

I don't really want a train. I find them a hassle and an annoyance. But, they do look pretty & add to that whole bridal look.

Then there's the issue of the sash. Chris wants me to have a silver/platinum colored sash to match his silver tie. It's a cute idea, but silvers so... Blah against white. I sort of like the idea of having a black sash just because black & white are my two favourite colors. The first dress (the one posted below) has a silver sash option. The second dress doesn't. I'm planning on having my hair black or burgundy for the wedding so either color goes well with it. I like the idea of a black sash because then I can wear a black veil, fascinator, black fishnet tights, black crinoline & black heels.

Admittedly, its not imperative that I order my dress in the next few weeks but it would be nice to at least get that aspect out of the way so that I don't have to whine and complain about it anymore.

Dress #2 is gorgeous with the black sash!  There is just enough drape in the back to suggest train-ness without going over the top.  Check on the offbeat bride's blog, July 21.  There is a gorgeous wedding where the bride had the black accessories think going.

I like both dresses! And if you don't want a train, then don't have one. My dress doesn't have a train. Plus, then you have to worry about a bustle if it doesn't come with one. And as commercialized as David's Bridal is, I think you can find some really pretty things in there. And for cheap! My dress was only $350. Maybe if you didn't want the silver sash, you could compromise with Chris and get some other kind of accessory that would match... Good luck!

I like the black sash! If you don't want a train, don't have one. You could do a mock train by getting a chapel or catherdral length veil. Then you can take the veil off for the reception and viola, best of bost worlds!
