Wedding Dress
and a few other scottish things
it's getting really annoying not being able to find a 4th bridesmaid. (or do I need a 5th one now? i'm not sure anymore)

We went out with one of Chris' coworkers last night and found out him & I had a tonne of interests in common. Apparently, I'm his new favourite person. lmao! That might've been the drink talking. Anyway, he asked if Chris was going to wear a kilt for our wedding seeing as my heritage is scottish & english and I'm trying to incorporate a lot of scottish traditions into the wedding. I explained to him that there's not a chance in hell that anyone will ever get Chris into a kilt. He didn't believe me. So he starts going on at Chris about how he has a tartan because he has English & perhaps Scottish ancestry so therefore he can wear one and not be lying. (one of Chris' family names is McGrath) Nope, not happening. Chris wouldn't even listen. So then Gorden says "Well, I'll wear my kilt if I'm at the wedding." and immediately I say "that's it. he's going to be my brides man." which of course Chris sits there and goes "no. if its not female, and doesn't have breasts & a vagina it's not standing with you up there. You need another GIRL." God damn it. We've been over this. I don't have any other girls I want to ask.

He keeps trying to pressure me to have Beth (our RB/FG's mom) as a bridesmaid, but no offense to her- I just don't know her well enough. And i need someone who'll look after her kids during the ceremony if she's a bridesmaid. It's a whole lot easier to have her as a hostess or guestbook attendant that way she can still keep the kids under control during the ceremony since Rob's a groomsman. Also, she has to make sure the kids are ready at the same time we are etc. and that would just become a really difficult situation if she was trying to get ready as a bridesmaid and also get the kids ready. I think she's still better off as a hostess.

Anyway, back to Gorden. He gave me a great idea- i'd been planning on having just a plain white sash under the bust to sort of dress the whole thing up a bit since it's so plain, but he suggested that since I want to incorporate as much Scottish into it as I possibly can without having a totally scottish wedding, I should ditch the sash under the bust and wear a tartan sash draped across my shoulder to my opposite hip & pinned to my dress with the luckenbooth. I've never been much of a fan of that look, but I've been playing with it in my head for a bit since then & I came across some 75mm tartan ribbon which the site luckily carries in my tartan! I'm going to run it past mum and see what she thinks about it but I think that would look pretty cute- my underbust sash in my clan's tartan. Alternatively, if the ribbon isn't heavy enough, I can always order some fabric from the site & have the sash made out of the fabric instead. And the great thing is... my shoes will easily match my sash. haha. The yellow in our tartan is sort of a greeny-yellow. And my shoes are lime. lmao.

Then we started talking about transportation- as a surprise for Chris, I'd been planning on getting up with the fire department down at Fort Fisher & arranging for them to drive us off from the ceremony. I nonchalantly dropped the idea into conversation with Chris & Gorden last night to see what their reactions were to it. Gorden loved it. Chris really didn't like the idea. I guess I know where my idea stands then. Later in conversation, it's revealed that Chris doesn't like the idea because he's planning something for our leaving the ceremony- his uncle is building a carriage from scratch, and it'll be pulled by 4 of their mustangs. It'll be lead by 2 fire department bag pipers- I want them to play Scotland the Brave, Chris wants them to play greensleeves. Will we ever agree on anything?
