I've been awake for over 36 hrs...
... but now we have our reception venue!!!
I finally managed to get time to make the 4 hour round trip down to Wilmington to get the deposit down on the aquarium. We ended up not renting out the entire thing like we'd originally considered because we don't really have enough guests to warrant it, nor did we really want to spend that kind of money. So we have the conservatory & the exotics tanks, deck & gardens. Also, we couldn't get the deck & gardens with just the conservatory unless we wanted to have the wedding on a weekday, so now I'm a friday bride too! I always thought the idea of a friday wedding was pretty awesome. lol. Unfortunately, the conservatory is standing room only, but that does mean I won't have to spend so much money on seats, tables, centerpieces etc. anymore. They have benches scattered around in the conservatory for people to sit, but for health & safety reasons, we can't have full seating in there. It's okay though- we can use the deck for extra seating [so long as it isn't raining] and I'm thinking perhaps we'll do the dancing out there, the cocktail hour & social area in the conservatory & a bar & buffet in the exotics area.

We're still searching for a ceremony site, but I'm pretty sure we're going to go with the fort fisher state park. It's not terribly difficult to walk, and if need be we could always put the grandmothers in a wheelchair and wheel them up to the ceremony site & then they can walk down to their seats if they want to (my grandmother is too proud to stay in a chair). They're only a $30 permit, and around $250 rental fee. Unfortunately nothing is included in that fee, but oh well. It's so pretty. We'll need a rain plan though.
