I've pretty much decided that we're switching over to the barn, regardless of if we're out of $500 with the aquarium. I haven't tried to get the deposit back from them yet, but that's on my to-do list for tomorrow. However, I'm almost certain that I've decided upon our centerpieces now that I know we'll be trying to get the barn. I've been searching online for sheets of silver birch bark to get a start on making the centerpieces and then Chris had the brilliant idea- why don't we just strip the bark off birch trees ourselves? lol- i hadn't thought of that! I'm planning on using two different centerpieces with lots of candles both with the centerpieces and throughout the decor. I don't like flowers much- as I've said before, I'm pretty allergic to the fragrance from most of them- so I'm planning on using high quality silks instead. For the branch centerpieces I'd like to find some dogwood branches (north carolina's state flower), but I doubt that I can find any still flowering in September. Instead of using the birch around the vases, I'm going to use either reindeer or sheet moss for the branches. I'll be using the birch to also create a frame for the seating plan instead of having escort cards. I've been planning on making my ringbearer's pillow and decorating my flowergirl's basket myself as well so that it coordinates with the centerpieces & decor. I also love the lace look of these candles.
