Yet again plans have changed...
Now, I'm an OCTOBER bride!

Last friday we met with a caterer, DJ & the venue. I got a bit peeved with the venue- when I'd called just a couple of days before they told me they had September 26th available. The way that their bookings work, means that there's no way that the date could've been available when I called because they require a 2 week processing period before the date is permanent. The date they claimed the 26th would be made permanent would mean that they would've had to have had the paperwork & deposit on it a week earlier.

Anyway, the 12th wouldn't work for our DJ, and FH is a firefighter so he didn't want his rehearsal dinner on 9/11, and our best man's anniversary is on the 13th. Not that that should matter, but we felt kind of odd about the idea of having only a year between our wedding & their wedding. The 19th was already booked (the date I'd been dying for) and the 26th was tentatively booked. That only left the 5th... which we booked tentatively, but only realized on sunday night that it's also labour day weekend which means that half our guest list wouldn't attend and we'd miss the Firefighter's camping trip at Carolina Beach.

I left a message with their "events coordinator" asking for the manager to call me since the "events coordinator" is pretty much hopeless- he quoted me the wrong price, filled out the times wrong, and told me the day I wanted was open when it isn't. I finally got to chat with the manager this afternoon who worked everything out- she's giving us a little bit of a discount for our inconvenience which means we get the place for about $965 for 8 hours. She also gave me all the other available dates from August through November. August would still be hot as hell around here & international flights would still be at peak costs, so that was out. November would start looking a bit dead & wintery and not so great for an outdoor ceremony. So the only other dates were October but my grandmother was being a bit funny about the idea of having the wedding in October since my uncle passed away on Oct 10th, 2007 and it's been extremely hard for her to deal with. I got on the phone to my mum & talked to her about it- she agreed that October 3rd would probably work the best for us and she'd have a word with my grandmother about it. She shot me an email a little while ago saying that my grandmother was okay with Oct. 3rd & the date also works well for FH's side. So in the morning, I'm calling the manager and telling her that we've settled on the 3rd! I'm a little disappointed, but at least it buys me some time.

Now I'm off to send out emails to everyone who thought it was going to be the 26th! lol.

Hey, I remember when we booked our wedding it seemed as if every weekend fell too close to or on something..eventually we chose to ignore it and just booked the date that sounded right to us...I think Oct 3 sounds like a really good day...I hope everything works out well for, its good that they offered you discount...saving money is always a good thing..it will all work in the end. You seem to be handling it better then I would.. Ithink I would be pulling my hair out...lol
