Ceremony
Decor Advice?

FH and I went to our venue yesterday to check out what the ceremony set up will look like. Overall I was pretty impressed, it looked very elegant...though a little simple to me.

The first pic is what our ceremony will look like, except we'll have black chair covers. The second pic is an inspiration pic that I would love to steal and have on the altar behind us...except FH doesn't like it.

Can anyone else think of what we could do to spice up our ceremony a little bit? I really don't like white and would like to add some black, without it looking too gothic.

I agree with ur FH. You could do that same effect with tall stands/pillars like that but put Large glass vases that hold really large Candles (Candles could be black) and some flowers around the vase..or if site won't let you light candles up there, you could skip this and build an altar where you guys will be standing and drape it with black sheer fabrics and some accent  flowers buched in groups at each corner and in the center where you have the fabric pulled back. This is fairly inexpensive to do..

BTW: I think it's very pretty as is... you could even just bring the stuff they have there (looks like some candle sticks, etc) forward and the existing draping is pretty nice.

IMO it's beautiful just as it is. I would just spice it with pillars with flowers or tall vases with petals around them.

Happy planning!

the set-up is actually beautiful! will you be having flowers?  i think just adding flowers would do the trick.

I think just some florals and you have a beautiful spot. Petals, pomanders..

Maybe an aisle runner customized for the two of you, but truly you don't need to do much at all.

thanks for the comments ladies! we actually weren't planning on adding flowers for the ceremony, just because they are so expensive! guess it's time for me to get thinking!

Flowers are pricey, you're right. What about candles lining the aisle since you have an indoor site? Could do an aisle runner with a damask pattern in black and your names. There are some really nice black candelabras around the area. Try Home Sense. Maybe a couple of those or something?

What about red pomanders (made of tissue paper) hung on the last chairs of each row? Just thought it would be a fun (& inexpensive) way to add a bit of your colour in!
But it will look amazing just how it is!

Okay, maybe I'm nuts but you seem to have an old Hollywood/vintage glam look going in your invitations and things...so why not bring a little bit of that in to your wedding ceremony?  Hang some glitter stars (easily made from construction paper {or cardboard}, glitter, glue, and fishing line) from the fabric that's hanging on the ceiling.  Also, you could attach a big black star to the curtains at the bunches.  (E-mail me if you don't understand what I'm talking about there.)  You could possibly add white lights (christmas lights are relatively cheap) to the plants and possibly outline your aisle with it as well.  If you know how to do crepe flowers, tack one to the back of each chair sash...or if you add the stars you could do a star to the back of each chair.  You could put your monograms on the doors.  If you need more help let me know and good luck!

maybe you can use some jewel or crystal garland to line the aisle (hanging between the aisle) could be black and like 3 red roses bunched up in each gathering of the garland, or black ribbon tieing th roses on each aisle.

Hahaha, well... these ladies are awesome! They took the words right out of my mouth!

I agree with the pomanders. I also agree that they would be easily (and cheaply) made from fabric or paper. I would maybe use a few black flowers in with the red ones? (Like this: http://i.ehow.com/images/a04/9m/9p/paper-flower-pomanders-200X200.jpg   ..... but with a few black ones?)

And the monogrammed aisle runner is a total winner!

But try not to clutter the space too much. I love the airiness of it.
Also, try to imagine it with people in the chairs. It makes a HUGE difference!

this might sounds absolutely crazy but what abour decorating the ceromy site's walls here and there with black and white photo's of famous couple who really demonstated love it could be as romantic as the humphrey bogard and ingrid berman to rhett butler and scarlet or as comedic as lucille ball and desi ornaz as well as wonderful couples that you know persoanlly even those who may be in attendance at your wedding it might even make then smile to know that their love inspires your own
