Only Open in Case of Emergency!

With our wedding fast approaching Jeff and I are trying to slow down, take it all in and just enjoy it all. And the best way to do that is with a glass of red wine.

I forget on whose blog I saw this idea (so sorry!) about getting a bottle of wine, 2 glasses and writing a letter to each other about how you feel at this moment and all the things you love about that person and all the promises you are making to them. Then you seal it all up in a box, nail it shut and only open it when you are really having troubles or just need to be reminded of what you mean to each other.

We wanted to add to this box and make it sort of a time capsule, including a newspaper from our wedding day, maybe a wedding invitation and a couple other things from our wedding/planning process. I've started researching red wines that age well (they are delicious!) and now just pricing out some wooden boxes. I truly hope we never have to open this box, but it makes us feel better knowing that there is a sort of plan for if we ever run into troubles.

thats whats great about this site... we can borrow idea's.....
    you can get the whole love letters box in Wedding star Magazine, on line or any store that sells their products... But its $100.00...... So If YOU can find a box to DIY it... please share that with me.    P.S.  Ive Loved All of your ideas for your big day.

Oh, I think this is a wonderful idea! Ishould of done this 10 years ago! HAA!

On the Damask wrapper project.....GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Sarhdarling! Please let me know when you accomplish this project!  I can't wait. A friend of mines did it and you have to cut them in a slight "U" angle for the wrap to not be so straight!  Good luck!!

I LOVE this idea, but better not open it in the middle of a fight or I'd probably get even more angry! But yeah definitely for the harder times... Very nice!

Absolutely love this idea!!  That is a great way to remember what you mean to each other.  I know you said the idea was to open it if ever there were troubles, but I think it would also be a great idea to open the box up regularly and make a habit of it.  Its like a private renewing of vows ritual.  I would love to make one of these and open it up on our one year anniversary.  I would leave a note in there that say "Eat the Cake!!" lol.   I would want to open it up on our 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and so on.  But I love the idea of using this as a way to remind each other how much you mean to each other!! Even though marriage is work, I never want to forget or get too busy to tell him I love him and that I enjoy him in my life!! :)Thank you for posting!

I love this and I think it would be something special to do on one of the big anniversaries too: 1st, 5th, 10th, 25th, 50th. I see this as an opportunity to share in the memories of why we fell in love on our special day.

ah HA! I knew someone would finally come across my idea :)
Actually if you want to know the creator of this fabulous idea was none other than my officiant :)

He's been featured on several TV networks because of it. He and his wife came up with the idea several years ago and he has been making the box by hand ever since. Its actually a part of our ceremony instead of doing sand or unity candles.
Trust me, anyone i tell about this idea in its entirety almost ALWAYS tears up. The Box is a very powerful thing :)

also you only only it for one of two reasons...on your 10th wedding anniversary or if you have had it with each other and are thinking of something rash like Divorce...
