Damask Cupcake Holders
DIY Tutorial!

Sorry for the delay ladies. I was eating cupcakes. But here is the tutorial for how to make your own super cute cupcake holders.

Step 1: Get the template for the basic shape of the holder. I found a really great one HERE. If you have cardstock print it out on that so when you trace the shape it's easier.

Step 2: Cut out one of the shapes.

Step 3: Find cute paper. I went to Michael's and found this book of scrapbooking paper with a bunch of cute black and white designs. It cost $30 but I have a 50% off coupon so it came to roughly $18.

Step 4: Trace the shape template as many times as possible on the paper you want to use.

Step 5: Cut them all out.

Step 6: Assemble cute scissors with a fun edge and scrapbooking punches. I was super lucky and borrowed these from a couple friends. I did notice that the punches were pretty expensive at Michael's ($30 each).

Step 7: Cut the longer edge of the holder using the funky scissors.

Step 8: OR Experiment with the punches on the longer edge of the holders. These were a little trickier to do and I actually wrecked a whole bunch while figuring out the placement of the holder in the punch.

Step 9: Admire all your handiwork (this is the back of the paper so you can see the edges more clearly).

Step 10: Figure out how big/small the holder needs to be and tape edges together. I started by gluing it closed but it took too long, got very messy and I was worried the glue might get on the cupcakes. You notice the tape more, but it will be dark in the venue so I don't think anyone will REALLY notice.

Step 11: Pop a cupcake in to make sure it is as adorable as possible.

PS. Do NOT tell your fiancee there are cupcakes in the fridge, but he can't eat them because of a wedding project. He will look at you as if you are crazy then try to eat all the cupcakes. :)

Let me know if you have any questions or run into any problems! Good luck!

Wow, thanks Sarah!  I didn't have the template, but I KNEW it was a "U" shape! LOL  Thanks for confirming!  These will definitely be an addition to the cupcake side of the business. Thanks again!

You did a marvelous job!

Love them! I've come across many tutorials for this but this was well written and I'm happy to see them actually working out for a bride. I haven't decided if I want to add to my DIY list with this one for our cupcakes or not. :)

Thank you for posting this. How about using double sided Scotch tape,so there is to tape showing? Also there is gift wrap tape that is short pieces of double sided tape, that too is made by Scotch.

Great tutorial!
One tip to make it easier: Use a double stick tape in a roll on dispenser. I use mine for every craft project lately and it's amazing! No messy glue, no tape showing, and no actually touching the tape! Get them in the scrap booking sections of any craft store.
