The New Ring is IN!!!
If interested you can check my older posts for all the ring drama that was incurred to be able to get to this point.

Now that this beauty is on my finger I just want to put it all behind us and move on. That being said, I LOVE my new ring. LOVELOVELOVE! We really lucked out because it came with a matching band too.

With a gigantic sigh of relief... I am happy!

Countdown:
Six More Months Til I'm A Mrs.!
It's so hard to believe that we started this whole planning process 5 months ago and today marks the 6 month away mark! So much has happened and so much more WILL happen!

I can't wait!!!

I feel like we are right on track with booking vendors and working on DIY projects. There's a part of me that wishes time would hurry up so I can call Jeff my husband, but I have to remember that I only get one engagement period so I better enjoy this one!

Ask a Question
Did FH ask your dad's permission?
A long time ago I told FH that if he ever wanted to marry me he had to ask my dad's permission. Now, I am anything but a traditional girl but this was always really important to me. It wasn't so much about getting permission as it was about showing respect to my father. FH did a really good job of telling my dad how much he respected him (and me) and that he was thankful for the great job he did in raising me AND he even got my dad to tear up a bit. I love both of these men so much that this was such an important conversation to take place and I'll always remember the respect in my dad's voice when talking about it with him after the fact.

So I was wondering how many other guys out there asked daddy's permission first? Or momma's permission as the case may be.

Wedding Invitation
Need your vote! Traditional or NON?!
I don't know how many times I've played with the font on my invitations at this point! I thought I had settled on a design until a post I read by renorx about non-traditional invites...so I started playing again.

We are going for a 1930's vintage glam/swingin' jazz kinda feel, so I feel like either invite could work. Which do you like more?

ps. instead of wasting more of my invites on samples I just printed them on regular paper and laid them over top the invitation.

PLEASE VOTE NOW!

Get Your Font On...
FONT CRAZY!
Today I just wanted to share my love of fonts. I love fonts, I love searching for them, looking at them and playing with them. A change in font can totally change the entire look and feel of a document! Oh my nerdom...never surprises me.

I usually use dafont.com because they are free and work with my mac, but I'm sure there are a bunch of other sites to get kick-ass free fonts from.

<=== some of the fonts that have stolen my heart recently

ps. I have changed my invitations about a million times in the last 5 months because I can't stop playing with the fonts!

New Ring on Its Way HOME!
After all the drama of my last ring basically falling apart (check back a couple posts for the whole story), FH and I went out and found a new ring for me. The jeweller is currently taking my original diamond and setting it into the new band.

Dare I say that I love the new ring more than the original one??? And here is where I let out a gigantic sigh of relief...wait, maybe I'll save that for when I actually get the ring in my hot little hands and on my barren lonely finger.

Ps. on my ring the centre stone is actually a princess cut, not a round.

My Mom Always Told Me to Share...
Tacky Weddings!!!
As this super stressful week comes to an end I came across this awesome website and can only hope that my wedding will NEVER be featured here:

http://tackyweddings.com/

Now I don't necessarily agree that all the weddings featured on this site are tacky. Some are just so personal or out-of-the box that a lot of people don't know how to take them. With that being said...it was a great way to kill a couple hours and have a good laugh with FH.

Hope you enjoy!

Table No. and Photo Scavenger Hunt
We decided to utilize our awesome engagement photos so I made these table numbers. I added the text in my Macs version of Word and popped them into some acrylic frames we got from the dollar store.

The back was blank and oh-so-boring so I decided to add a Photo Scavenger Hunt for our guests to have some fun. They include things like getting photos of: "the messiest cupcake eater", "FH and I looking at each other", and "the youngest couple/oldest couple". The list on each table is different so hopefully we get a lot of great shots. I included my email address at the bottom so guests can email their favourite shots to us! Also, whatever guest wants to take them home at the end of the night can have them!

Just one more thing checked off the list!

(if anyone wants the list of scavenger hunt pictures i used just let me know! it took me awhile to think of all of them!)

***UPDATE***
Because you ladies asked for it....on every table we had "Group photo of everyone at your table" and "Photo of each family or couple at your table". Then every table had a different list of photos (there might be a couple doubles). Here is the list of shots I used:

Wedding Rings And Jewelry
PLEASE HELP!!!
Tonight I looked down at my beautiful engagement ring and noticed that one of the side diamonds is missing. This is the 2nd time this has happened since I got engaged 4 months ago. About 2 months ago one of my side diamonds fell out. We took it into the jewelers and they replaced the small diamond. I noticed that the quality of the replacement stone was not as nice as the originals so after a week or so we took it to the jeweler again. Around the same time I noticed that the band was really starting to yellow (the diamonds don't go all the way around). We were thinking of asking for our money back but the shop manager did such a good job at pacifying us that we just agreed to have the diamond replaced again and the band re-plated. They also told me that they checked and tightened all the settings for the other diamonds so this problem wouldn't happen again.

Now here we are 2 months later and it is the exact same problem. A different diamond has fallen out and the band is a gross yellow again. IT HAS ONLY BEEN 4 MONTHS! I don't wear my e-ring to work, I don't wear it to do chores, I don't wear it to sleep. I really only wear it when FH and I go out for dinner or to run errands.

Am I in the right to ask for a complete refund? This is not an issue I want to have to keep revisiting every 2 months. Anyone have any similar story to this that they would like to share or advice to help us get our refund? I literally feel so sick when I think about the amount of money FH paid for this ring, it was NOT cheap. Thanks so much for the vent ladies. I'm just in shock.

I should add that the ring was bought from a reputable jewelry store with multiple locations, not just some little place.

***UPDATE***
FH and I went to the jewellers today to discuss what could be done. We went in calmly and cooly and explained everything. The manager offered to fix the ring. Which we refused. He then offered a brand new ring, in the exact same style. Though it was tempting I was worried that the same thing would start happening with a different ring. As soon as we mentioned "refund" the manager got super defensive and almost started blaming it on me. At this point I got so upset that I had to leave the store. FH stayed and kept calm (thank god!). He got the manager to call the owner of the store to explain the situation and even the owner refused to give us a refund (ridiculous!). There is nothing wrong with the centre diamond so we came to an agreement that we would keep the centre stone and get store credit for the balance of the cost of the band. Before we went into the store we decided that a full refund was our goal, but we would accept store credit as the next best thing. We plan on going to a different location to try to find a new band. In the meantime I am ringless. We also plan on filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

Black
We are hoping for a classic vintage feel, think 1940s/1950s jazzy, swing type of party. Our colours are black and red with a bit of white. I'm a little bit of a damask bride, but nothing too crazy. We live in Toronto, but are planning an out of town wedding halfway between where we live and where our parents live. Though it's a challenge to plan an event an hour away I think it's going to worth it. It is going to be a friday evening ceremony and reception and we have LOTS of tricks up our sleeves. Stay tuned!
