One of my favourite dessert buffet set-ups
I like the levels and the fruit-filled wafer cups.
Nice display
I enjoy the levels and the lighting here
Adorable! I want the lollipop trees!
I like the meringue clouds.
Lots of chocolate with candy bark in the middle.
Mini cupcakes -yippee!! I like the way they're displayed.
I may do mousse in cones
Truffles....yummmm...
Cookies! Again, liking the displays.
Mini cheesecakes, although mine will probably be square.
I wish I could do little éclairs, but I'm not sure I can fit it in...
Chocolate dipped Oreos topped with strawberry.
Marshmallow pops - very visually appealing!
Mini tarts
Chocolate covered pretzel sticks.
Chocolate covered pretzles
Brownie pops - balls of brownie coated in icing...Mmmmm
Nifty little cones for my caramel corn.
Gumdrop topiary - so cool!
The bags I will have for guests to fill with treats - using my wedding colours instead of green, of course.
Cake stands. I thought these could be made with a candlestick/vase and old china. Hello Value Village!! I also have a similar idea whick I will post once I try it out...

DIY Wedding
Dessert Buffet

So, my original plan was to have a candy buffet. I don't mind that you see them everywhere - they're just so darn awesome and yummy. However, during my search for candy buffet ideas, I came across so many wonderful things that didn't quite fit the bill of "candy". I have, as a result, decided that we will instead be having a DESSERT BUFFET!! What's best about this is that I will be making it all myself!!

Some of the things that will most likely be included on the menu:

Mini Cupcakes - 5-10 flavours including French Vanilla, Caramel Apple, Lemon Poppyseed, and Banana Nut

Mini Jelly Rolls - 2-5 flavours - most likely just a standard vanilla and chocolate with seasonal berry fillings from the U-Pick

Candy Bark/Brittle - 3-5 flavours - Peanut brittle for sure, maybe almond bark

Truffles - 5-15 flavours - so many to choose from...selections may include Pina Colada, Strawberry Daiquiri, Chocolate Curry, Creme Brulee, and Irish Cream

Mini Tarts - 3-10 flavours. These may turn into mini stuffed pastries: cheaper/easier to make, less visual appeal - Rhubarb, Blueberry, Strawberry, Apple, Etc.

Chocolate Covered Oreos - likely just 2 varieties - milk chocolate covered and white chocolate

Cookies - 3-5 flavours - Undecided as to what cookie flavours - could use some help here - May include good ol' Chocolate Chip, Rocky Road and... Your Idea!!!

Mini Cheesecakes - with several topping choices - Not sure if I will pre-top or make a station with bowls of topping sauces

Marshmallow Pops - covered with coloured sugar or chocolate dipped.

Fudge/Brownie Pops - will make both - one as "pops", one as a bite-sized mini.

Chocolate Covered Pretzels - both white and milk, sicks and twists

Caramel Corn

Mini Dessert Squares - Only if I need filler - I'll have to search for some good recipes, as I don't have any of these on back-up

Mini Parfait - in shot glasses

Mint Patties - also in several other flavours like Strawberry and Orange

I may also mix in a few jars of candies, some lollipops, etc. There will also be a chocolate fountain and, of course, the wedding cake.

Well...it seems like a lot when I write it all down like that, but at least everyone will be sure to have their sweet tooth satisfied!

All of this should take about 30 hours or so in labour. Little do my bridesmaids know, they're in for some sweet fun...

WOW, little everyone knows alright!  Looks delicious I want to be there.

Anyway, a piece of advise, that is a lot of food to waste, therefore I will suggest that you have little boxes or bags that your guest can use to take some home.  It will be really sad to dump it all after all the labour and love put into it.

I wish this was posted from 2011 because staying up with the times and options to make life easy and delicious is always good. Check out the 4th annual Bucks County Chocolate Show to see what you can buy and then figure out what you want to make. Amazing chocolates and other gourmet foods to create a sensational dessert buffet (mostly chocolate of course) and hopefully less than 30 hours. April 30th in New Hope, PA it's a must!
