Okay. So. I had never really thought about the make up and hair for the girls in the wedding party.
For me, my friend Jill (who is a hair stylist by trade) is doing my hair. She is charging me $75 for doing a trial run, and the day of bridal hair. I thought that was reasonable, because it is bridal hair! My friend Jimmy (who used to be a make up artist by trade) offered to do my make up the day he found out I was engaged. I had assumed it was a gift, but even if it isn't, no big deal. I am supposed to do things that are a bit expensive that day, it's my wedding day!
My girls let me know that they were interested in having their hair and make up professionally done. I am not "requiring" it, and if they choose to not do it, that is totally fine with me. I decided to go to Jill to find out if she knew anyone who could do their hair. She has a friend who can come do it... for $45 dollars per person! That seemed really expensive to me. The girls who are interested in getting their hair done told me that it is pretty standard, plus this lady is coming to us, so apparently it isn't that bad. Then I asked Jimmy if he was willing to do everyones make up. He said "of course!" I asked him today how much the girls need to be prepared to pay. 60 dollars per face!!!! I cannot believe it. That seems absolutely crazy to me. You can get a make over at a make up counter in the mall for free if you buy one of their products. Thats like 20 bucks AND you have something to show for it afterward! This way, you pay 60 dollars, wash your face and BAM 60 bucks literally down the drain.
I am bummed. I had this idea in my head of all the girls hanging out in my suite with me getting ready and getting our hair and make up done and sipping on mimosas. Now, a bunch of girls will be going elsewhere to get their make up done, or will have to do it themselves, after I got them all excited about the prospect of being pampered. It isn't the end of the world or anything, but it is a bummer.
SO...I would totally take $45 & $60!
