Tips for a boudoir photo shoot?

Hi Ladies! I hope your wedding planning is going well...It's been awhile since my wedding. I've googled information on this, but had trouble finding what I was looking for, but I remember seeing a lot of other girls on here that are going to and have done a boudoir photoshoot. It's my hubby's 30th birthday in March, and a book with these pictures is going to be my gift for him. I have to admit that I am totally nervous and excited all at the same time. I was wondering if any of you are planning on doing one or have already done one - and if so, do you have any tips or suggestions?

Ok, well I am a pin up model, so I will tell you the best advice is to relax. First, you need to pick lingerie that you don't feel sweet and pretty in, you need to pick lingerie that make you feel bold and sexy. Plus, colorful lingie translates well on film. Second, hire a pro makeup artist and hair dresser. They will be able to make you look camera ready. When girls do their makeup themselves, they tend to tone it down alot, not realizing it will wash you out in photos. Second, have FUN with it. The first shoot I did, I did drink just enough to knock a little nervous out, but not enough to make me sloppy. Here is your list-
#1-Bold and sexy lingerie
#2-Professional hair and make up
#3-Fun
#4-maybe just a little crown and coke

I just did mine last month..... check out my blog!  I was SOOO nervous going in.  But they turned out cute and I loosened up right away.  If you are not hair/makeup saavy, I would get it done professionally.  Especially your make up.  I did my own hair but did not feel confident in doing my own make up.  My photographer had wine so I drank one glass while getting my make up done and another while we did the shoot  =)

I brought sweet & pretty AND bold & sexy lingerie.  They told me to bring extras in case we decide to mix and match stuff.  (They also had props there).

Are you already married?  If not, I would definitely bring your garter and veil if you have them.  Pay attention to details too.  I did my nails and had false eyelashes.  I also brought some thigh-highs, high heels, and lingerie pieces.  I also brought a t-shirt from my fiances favorite football team.

Good luck!!!

I bet you had a blast! I love it when I see other girls have fun with it and personalize the heck out of it. That way, their new husband knows that it was something for us that was all about them!

I did mine last month and they turned out amazingly.  It is certainly a little nerve racking.  I didn't mind the clothes I had a harder time with my "sexy face", so I would recommend practicing in the mirror, so when you are making the face you aren't thinking that you look ridiculous.  A little alcohol certainly helps.  I also had a lot of fun because I was giving him a pic each hour leading up to the wedding and then a book and then the last one was for his motorcycle, so it helped to think of what kind of poses I wanted when I thought out the presentation of them.  Fake eyelashes are a good plan!

Fake eyelashes are a must I think! Honestly, as bad as it sounds, when you are doing the shoot, think of how he makes you feel when he is flirting. And then start into how he makes you feel when you are together, (you know what I mean) ;)

Hey! Im a licensed hair stylist and makeup artist. I work very closely with a photographer who specializes in boudoir photo shoots.  When gathering your lingerie or clothing items, always go with you or your hubbys fav. colors, stuff that make your eyes pop.  If you wear your hair straight majority of the time, go big curly, and sexy for your shoot! Smokey eyes in browns or blacks depending on your skin tone looks amazing.(Nude lips with the smokey eyes is a perfect match.) If you choose to wear less eyeshadow, make your lips stand out with reds, pinks, or browns.  Eyelashes are a MUST! Bring colored high heels, these look great in the photos.  If you can get ahold of your Husband's long sleeve button up, take some photos with a sexy bra and his big tee shirt unbuttoned, he will LOVE this. Also, his fav sports team jerseys look great.  Bring accesories such as feathers, long pearl neclaces, etc.
Check out my Photographer's website to get some ideas under her Boudoir photo shoots and good luck!
