This is sdclarinet's Purple Wedding!

I have always loved the idea of the signature Matte. I saw this in the house of a newly-wed couple last year and I have always wanted to do it for my own wedding. I might just do this instead of the guest book or I might have the Matte at the Rehearsal Dinner and a Guest book at the ceremony.

So I had a dream last night that it was my wedding day and we were setting up the ceremony in this little room that could only fit like 20 chairs and I was freaking out thinking "where are we gonna put everyone?" Then the room kept on getting progressively smaller and smaller until the door was too small to fit through...

Then I woke up and was like....."wait....my sanctuary fits like 200 people...it's all good" :-)

Since I have a purple, silver and white theme I was thinking of using white flowers to decorate the church, which would look nice because the pews and windows are trimmed in green

How are you guys decorating the church for the ceremony? just a vase on the altar? I'm thinking of trimming the aisle with flowers too if it's affordable....

I spent some time on the knot this morning and found some cool wedding cakes. Everything colored (ribbon etc) will be purple on my cake.

Can't wait to go Cake Tasting!!!!!!! yum........

So I finally got off my butt and sent in the engagement announcement into the Newport Daily News. Only a month and a half late lol!!

So here is my first attempt at a monogram to use for our invitations, place cards, etc. I created one with our names framing the F but it wouldn't copy over well because I had to use Word to make this one. (I love this font BTW) Notice that the date doesn't exist because we have yet to set a date lol.

Just an update Kyle is currently driving out to San Diego to join his ship while I stay behind in Rhode Island studying for my NCLEX-RN exam and doing some hard core wedding planning. I talked to him today and he is in Kansas City, so far away!!!

So I picked dressed for the bridesmaids. It is a taffeta separates dress with a white sash. Fits perfectly into my idea of purple for the BM's

I love the versatility of this dress and think it will look amazing on all of my BM's

The photography for the wedding is really important to me, I want someone that has a photo-journalistic style and will do a fabulous job. The problem is that there are literally dozens of high quality photographers in my area for me to choose from. I just have no idea how much money to spend.

It would be extremely easy for me to spend over 4,000 dollars just on the pictures, which is not in any means in my budget.

If you don't mind telling me how much are you guys spending on the photographer?

I am so clueless about where to go dress shopping for my wedding dress. I went to David's Bridal yesterday and had a fabulous time but I still want to look around for more dresses since my wedding is still so far away.

If any of you girls live in the Boston area and know of a good bridal shop or a place you have had success at please leave me a post!!

Also I'm moving to San Diego this summer so all you southern california brides feel free to post as well!

I'm looking for an a-frame dress with a chapel train, and tulle is a no-go :-D

So yesterday I went with my future mother-in-law to look at a possible reception site, the Officer's Club on the Navy base in Newport. I was completely blown away by how beautiful it was. They are completely re-doing the inside banquet halls and they have just installed these beautiful wrap around decks that go right to the water's edge. The larger banquet hall comes with the bigger deck with an outdoor bar and is actually in my price range!

I am going to start communicating with the caterers and hopefully as soon as we can set a date for the wedding we can get into the officers club!!!!

Here is a little blurb about my favorite ladies!

Lisa (MOH) - Lisa is my best friend from college and my roommate from Senior year. She is so much fun to go out with and we get along really well. She really is the only person that I feel comfortable really getting mad at when she is being a punk. I can totally be myself around her and there is always laughing whenever we are together. I am so happy she agreed to be my MOH!!

Dawn - Dawn is one of my best friends from high school, we have been friends for now over 8 years and I am so happy she's going to be in the wedding. She is my "fellow Italian brunette!" She is wild and crazy and really fun to be around!

Becca - Becca, my other good friend from highschool, is one of my more mellow friends. She and I were drum majors our senior year of high school (band dorks anyone?) I have also known her for about 8 years. She has been a really good friend to me and I am happy that she can also be in the wedding!

Kate - Kate is my best friend from nursing school. We met freshmen year and really stayed within the same circle of friends for our entire four years. She was also a cheerleader for football and basketball so we always went to games together (I was in the band...i know i know) She is also wild and crazy, her and Dawn will get along really well!

Kelly - I have no real good pictures of Kelly but she is Kyle's younger sister, she is 16 and going into her senior year of high school. She is really excited to be a bridesmaid! She is really fun and I am hoping that this will be a good first step for the two of us to become a little closer.

So I have been MIA on the blog for weeks because I graduated from college last week and have been sick for the past 5 days! ARG. But since I was stuck on the couch for days on end I was able to do some good (if not initial) research.

I have picked my five bridesmaids who I will post about next but I think i have chosen a color to put them in, lavender. I think the colors I am going to go with are lavender, silver and white.

Here are some of my first choices, what do you guys think?

I would like to incooporate my mom's wedding dress into my ceremony some how. I have a friend who is using part of her mom's wedding dress to use as the ring bearer's pillow, but i'm not quite sure if I will have one yet because we don't know have any children that age in either family.

any ideas ladies?

So my fiancé Kyle is going to be a Naval Officer when he graduates from college in May. Since we don't know when he will be deployed we can't set a date yet because we don't know when he will be at sea.

If anyone is trying to plan a military wedding I could really use some advice. I am kind of overwhelmed with all of this planning all at once!

Although I am really looking forward to Kyle in his choker whites and getting to walk under a sword arch!!!

Kyle came to spend the weekend with me last weekend for our anniversary (April 26th). That night when we went to sleep he snuck out of bed to "wrap my anniversary gift." What he really did was put pictures of us all over my house and wrote out a card for me to find in the morning with a rose. He came back to bed and set his cell phone alarm on vibrate for 5:15 AM and went to sleep.

Now around 4:30 I woke up WHICH I NEVER EVER DO! and came out of bed to go to the bathroom. I woke him up when I tried to get out of bed and totally freaked him out. He was like "hold on" and ran out and took down EVERYTHING he just put up to not ruin my surprise. I was totally oblivious and went to the bathroom, came back and went back to sleep.

Around 5:30 my cell phone went off with his ring tone and It woke me up. When I answered it he said happy anniversary and that there was a gift for me in the living room then hung up. I went outside and found the rose and card and pictures. The card told me to meet him at the beach. The beach is like a 5 min walk from where I live in Narragansett Rhode Island so thinking we were just going to go for a walk (which we often do) I walked out the door, WITH SWEATPANTS AND A HOODIE ON, WITHOUT BRUSHING MY HAIR OR EVEN LOOKING IN THE MIRROR!

When I got to the beach I saw him standing there with his shirt and tie on. When I got up to him he kissed me with tears in his eyes. It was at that moment that my lightbulb went off and I realized what was happening!! He got on one knee and asked me to be his wife just as the sun was coming up on the beach, while I looked like hell..

I can't wait to tell our children that story....
