Sat, 11 Oct 2008 13:53:00 PST en-us ATTENTION JANUARY BRIDES - My Worst Fear Realized - Changing the Wedding Date!!!!!!! http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/28541 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/28541 Tue, 07 Oct 2008 00:49:00 PST So I am just now getting over my freak out.... So thank you United States Navy, my FI is probably going to be deployed in March now, so our planned April wedding is pretty much impossible at this point. After much talking and yelling and crying we have decided to try and get married in January (originally when my bridal shower was going to be) So in short, the 6 months I though I had to plan has now become three and a half! I NEED HELP If you are a January bride please TELL ME WHAT I HAVE TO HAVE DONE AT THIS POINT!! WHEN SHOULD MY INVITES GO OUT? I already sent out over 100 save the dates, all of which now have the wrong day....arg. What a headache! ]]> DIY - Table Numbers, More Pictures http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/26653 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/26653 Wed, 24 Sep 2008 13:43:00 PST As promised, here are the pictures of me making on of the table number luminaries. Any questions don't hesitate. e-mail me @ sdclarinet@gmail.com good luck! **update - for whatever reason WBC is not letting me add captions (the page won't load) and I have to get to work. I'll try again when I get back but i hope the pictures explain enough ]]> DIY - Table Numbers, Directions http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/26469 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/26469 Tue, 23 Sep 2008 11:52:00 PST So one of the WBC brides asked how I made these, and it was so easy I figured I share with all of you. After all, I wasn't the original creator of these anyway (Thanks road to the aisle!) Materials 1) Glass cylinders 8 x 3 1/2 (from flowers and supplies.com) 2) Transparent Clear Paper (purchased from Michael's) 3) Lavender Ribbon 5/8" (two spools), Black Ribbon 1/4" (two-three spools) 4) Super Tacky tape (1) 5/8" (1) 1/4" roll (Michael's) I used Microsoft publisher to type the table numbers onto a custom template with a 7.25 x 11" page. I used the font Ambiance BT swash (again thanks road to the aisle!) the word table is size 121 and the number is size 205. Print it out and wrap it around the cylinder. secure with two strips of the larger size tape. Use two more pieces of the larger tape to wrap the purple ribbon around the top and bottom of the font. then use the smaller tape to wrap the black ribbon along the purple ribbon. AND YOU'RE DONE! I'm going to finish the rest of them tomorrow i think and I will post more pictures of me actually making them, that might help.]]> DIY - Table Numbers, Progress http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/26337 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/26337 Mon, 22 Sep 2008 14:13:00 PST I have done 12 of the 16 table numbers, which took me most of last night. I wanted to show of my work :-) ]]> Ask a Question - Are different shades of purple O.K.? http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/26216 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/26216 Sun, 21 Sep 2008 22:11:00 PST So When I ordered the paper for my invitations the paper I chose was a lighter irridesent purple then the purple I chose for my BM dresses. Now I am having some thoughts about how the two colors will look. The paper I bought I am also planning on using for the programs, menus, place cards etc. Since this color will predominate should I use the coloring of the cake etc in the lighter paper color or the darker dress color? Does it even matter? ]]> Bridesmaids - Beautiful Bridesmaids! Missing Home... http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/26170 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/26170 Sun, 21 Sep 2008 16:57:00 PST So two of my BMs picked up their dresses yesterday, so all five of them have their dresses. phew! Arn't they beautiful??? Seeing their pic makes me miss being home in RI where they are. I am planning this wedding from where I am living now in San Diego and I wish that I could be there physically for all of the dress fittings and meeting and such. Any one else planning their wedding from far away? ]]> DIY - Glass Cylinders are IN http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/25783 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/25783 Thu, 18 Sep 2008 13:03:00 PST So I was going to order the glass for my table numbers from save-on-crafts.com but they were out of stock of the size I wanted (8 x 3 1/2) so I had to look elsewhere. I found a good floral supply store online and ordered them on Tuesday. They came this morning! I got 16 glass cylinders for around $50 (roughly $3 a piece) the site is www.flowersandsupplies.com They have a large selection of glass vases, good for centerpieces! ]]> DIY - Table Luminaire http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/25525 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/25525 Tue, 16 Sep 2008 16:52:00 PST So since I am obsessed with DIY things lately I have decided to make Luminaries for the table numbers. Here is the finished product! ]]> Favors - DiscountMugs.com http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/24233 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/24233 Tue, 09 Sep 2008 01:43:00 PST I am planning on getting coffee mugs from discountmugs.com. You can Design a screen print to put on the mug for free and they are only about $0.90 a piece. The shipping is ALOT but 160 mugs + shipping is still within my budget for favors. I think I will fill them with silver (milk) and purple (dark) hershey kisses. On the side It will say Sara & Kyle April 4th 2008 -Thanks for sharing in our special day!- ]]> DIY Table Runner - Bolt Fabric http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/24054 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/24054 Sun, 07 Sep 2008 23:43:00 PST Man no posts for three weeks then three in one night!!! I was watching Army Wives and was day dreaming about the wedding centerpieces and tables and I got a good idea to buy a bolt of fabric and cut it into strips to add color to the table. Similar to the pic, nice huh? I looked online @ Joann's.com and found 20 yards of a nice purple for around $35.00. Def enough for all of the tables. ]]> Garter - ebay selections http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/24051 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/24051 Sun, 07 Sep 2008 23:02:00 PST So I was poking around e-bay and found some cute purple garters. I like the one with the polka dots but what do you guys think? 1-2- or 3? :-) ]]> Been MIA for a little while.... - Organized my Wedding Things, and got KITTENS!!!! http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/24049 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/24049 Sun, 07 Sep 2008 22:12:00 PST So I know I have been MIA for a few weeks but I have been SUPER busy with my new RN position at the hospital. Last week me and my FI adopted two boy kittens (brothers) their names are Zachary and Alex! I have not even BEGUN to look for a Florist or a DJ. The crappy part is that I am currently living literally across the country from where were are getting married so most of my conversing would be over the phone or e-mail. I have not the slighest clue as to how to pick a DJ, they all seem the same to me. Any tips would be helpful, I'm a little more sure as to the florist..but still a little clueless. To date I have done... -picked the bridal party -booked the ceremony and reception sites -bought my dress -booked photographer -picked invitations -sent STD -picked ceremony music -have the groom!!! lol is there anything big that I am missing that should have been done already????? **UPDATE*** The reception hall does handle the catering so that's taken care of, thanks for the advice!!! My Goal is to have the DJ booked and the florist narrowed down before my birthday (September 12th) ]]> Goals for today... http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/21529 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/21529 Wed, 20 Aug 2008 10:56:00 PST So I haven't posted in FOREVER but I have good reason, last week I interviewed at a local hospital and GOT A JOB!! So I have been busy with that but today I am devoting the WHOLE day to wedding planning. Here are my goals for the day and tonight I'll post again to see what I got accomplished 1) Finish Save the Dates and mail them out 2) E-mail potential florists/DJs 3) Pick Paper for DIY invitations 4) Search web for ideas for centerpieces. I'm going for white for the flowers, so if anyone has a good white themed centerpiece pic or idea let me know! Sorry I've been MIA but now at least I'm a working woman!!!! ]]> Wedding Dress - I've waitied long enough.... :-) http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/20150 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/20150 Sat, 09 Aug 2008 22:14:00 PST So this is the winner. I bought it back in June but until now I was afraid to post pics because I was deathly afraid of kyle seeing them. Now after I have made him SWEAR not to look at the blog I am going to post my lovely, my wedding dress. It's from Davids Bridal, originally I wasn't going to try it on, passed right over it when I was looking online. My consultant thought I might like it so after about 5 or 6 failures she brought this out and I immediately fell in love with it. I kept on asking to put it back on, it's just so COMFORTABLE!! very light, I def will be able to dance the night away in this! The front lining is scalloped and it is also scalloped along the top of the bodice. All along the lace overlay is metallic beading and rose embroidery. I feel so beautiful in this dress..... I can't wait for kyle to see me in this on our wedding day........ BTW that is the Veil as well, it is in 3 layers and scalloped just like the detailing of the dress, fits it PERFECTLY!!! ]]> Ask a Question - Who's Registered @ Target? http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/19504 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/19504 Tue, 05 Aug 2008 22:12:00 PST So Kyle and I are already registered @ Bed Bath and Beyond and we will probably register @ Macy's too (most likely for China) I also wanted to register for a few things @ Target. I think it would be nice to have a more affordable option for all of my just out of college buddies! anyone have anything good/not so good to say about the Target/Macy*s Wedding Registries? ]]> Ask a Question - Use of Rose Petals? http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/19163 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/19163 Sat, 02 Aug 2008 22:10:00 PST So i'm on a white Rose Kick and I want to order some fresh white rose petals to use for the ceremony. I would like to use them for the centerpieces, the cake table, maybe tossing them as we leave the church? On fiftyflowers.com you can get 6,000 for $130.00 or 12,000 for $200.00, anybody know a cheaper alternative? ]]> Flowers - White! Purple Flowers? http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/19161 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/19161 Sat, 02 Aug 2008 21:56:00 PST So I've decided I want a white rose bouquet. Maybe the BM's with smaller bouquet with a purple flower too. Any ideas? Its hard to find purple flowers.....]]> Save the Date - affordable DIY magnets! http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/19081 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/19081 Sat, 02 Aug 2008 08:35:00 PST So here is what the save the date will look like (many thanks to Heather for her idea that I am using, check our her blog, Road to the Isle....soo talented!) Under the ribbon we are printing a quote on the card stock...Kyle picked it out... "For hearing my thoughts, understanding my dreams, and being my friend, for filling my life with music, and loving me without end...For all of these things....I do..." -Anonymous This is my project for the day....I am hoping to get most of the ribbon on the card stock done since I can't make the magnets yet (the magnet sheets I ordered haven't arrived yet) FYI I have the materials to make over 100 of these and I have only spent ~ $40. If anyone wants instructions for these let me know!!! The coloring on the little pic is wierd but if you click on it you can see the real coloring ]]> First attempt at DIY Save the Date http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/18334 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/18334 Mon, 28 Jul 2008 11:15:00 PST So I spent hours tweaking this in PowerPoint last night, I am going to print it out on photo paper and use peel and stick magnets to make them. I have not settled on the pictures and Kyle hasn't seen it yet (he wants to help pick the pictures but he was at work last night and wasn't around) :-) I like it in Purple and Sage. I also threw black in for good measure. which do you guys like best? ]]> Adding Sage Green - Opinions Appretiated! http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/18253 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/18253 Sun, 27 Jul 2008 19:57:00 PST So I am thinking about Nixing silver as a main color and changing it for sage green to make a more diverse palate. Now my three main colors will be purple, white and sage green with silver accents but i'm not 100% yet. What do you guys think? I made an inspiration board to see the colors together ]]> I'm a Registered Nurse!!! http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/17632 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/17632 Tue, 22 Jul 2008 11:21:00 PST I just wanted to share with you ladies that last Saturday I took my NCLEX-RN exam and found out today that I passed! I was wondering If I could get some imput as to where I could get save the date magnets for a decent price (I would need about 150) Is it possible to do this? is mailing them too much of an additional cost? my wedding is 9 months away so I assume I would need to do this ASAP right? ]]> Bridesmaids - Found the dresses http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/16842 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/16842 Tue, 15 Jul 2008 08:02:00 PST So yesterday I called David's Bridal because the BM dress I originally chose was no longer listed on the website in the color I chose. So I called and they said that the color I chose was discontinued!!!! So after I had a pretty major freak out I decided to get two of my bridesmaids together and go back for a second try at DB. I actually found a dress that I like better then the original dress and I found it in dark purple (the thing I was worried about the most was having to change my colors!) here are some pictures from dress shopping! ]]> THE DATE IS SET!! - Finally!!!!!! http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/16445 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/16445 Fri, 11 Jul 2008 13:39:00 PST so after three months of an engagement and several long phone calls and headaches, we finally have a date set, we got the Reception Hall booked for April 4th 2009, a Saturday!! I saw this in the house of a newly-wed couple last year and I have always wanted to do it for my own wedding. I might just do this instead of the guest book or I might have the Matte at the Rehearsal Dinner and a Guest book at the ceremony. ]]> Church - look inside http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/15284 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/15284 Tue, 01 Jul 2008 08:39:00 PST So I had a dream last night that it was my wedding day and we were setting up the ceremony in this little room that could only fit like 20 chairs and I was freaking out thinking "where are we gonna put everyone?" Then the room kept on getting progressively smaller and smaller until the door was too small to fit through... Then I woke up and was like....."wait....my sanctuary fits like 200 people...it's all good" :-) Here's a pic of the inside of the church....I love the windows don't you?? ]]> Flowers - Decorating the Church http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/15280 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/15280 Tue, 01 Jul 2008 08:24:00 PST Since I have a purple, silver and white theme I was thinking of using white flowers to decorate the church, which would look nice because the pews and windows are trimmed in green How are you guys decorating the church for the ceremony? just a vase on the altar? I'm thinking of trimming the aisle with flowers too if it's affordable.... ]]> Cake - What do you guys think? http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/14059 http://www.weddingbycolor.com/sdclarinet/milestones/14059 Thu, 19 Jun 2008 08:33:00 PST I spent some time on the knot this morning and found some cool wedding cakes.
