This is sea212's Pink Wedding!

This is Madison, our flower girl. My mom has a home daycare and she and her brother are two kids who go there. Her family is also our neighbors. I was just home for Spring Break and got some pictures when I was helping my mom out with the kids.

I would say our wedding will be pretty traditional. However, some things will not be. In my previous post I mentioned our Han Solo and Princess Leia cake topper we want to have.
Erik and I are both big Star Wars fan. On one of our first dates we watched like all of the original trilogy (the only ones that really matter anyway). It's a special memory for us hence the cake topper. Plus it will be funny.

Wow, it's been awhile since I've posted. Let's just say I've been super busy with school...it's pretty much consuming my life. Ah, the trials of a music major.
Last night I looked through some cake pictures though. I visited some of the sites you suggested and they really helped! I plan on looking at more later. Here are some pictures I like. I'm getting an idea of the style cake I like.
By the way...though I may like the more elegant look for the cake we're definitely having a Han Solo and Princess Leia cake topper. So yeah...

So I've been engaged for a few months now and despite all the magazine/website/picture browsing I've done, I have yet to see a cake I actually like.
Our caterer includes the cake in the package but we're supposed to tell her what we want it to look like. I know I like 3 tiered ones and I want it to look elegant. Colors: pinks and ivory. Anybody know where I can find lots of cake pictures?

If there's one thing I'd like for the reception it is to have lots of mood lighting...candles, Christmas lights, etc.
I'm thinking lights on the cake and wedding party table would be nice. Sort of like this picture here.

Erik and I have started talking about honeymoon locations and I think we're leaning toward Europe. We figure while we're over there we should try to see a lot. Italy, Switzerland, Scotland, Austria, and England are all on the list.
Hopefully this summer we can try to set some things up and actually plan it more. Anyone have any tips on honeymooning in Europe or is actually doing it as well?

I know I really want flute music at the ceremony. I am a flute player so it's obviously very important to me. Plus it will be beautiful!
I'm thinking of asking my friends I play in band with to play and maybe even my flute teacher too...she's amazing!
I'm also thinking strings or a vocalist as well. Hopefully I can find people from my church...

This is my cousin's son, Noah, who will be the ring bearer at our wedding. As soon as I can I will get a picture of our flower girl, Madison, who is my neighbors' daughter.
My mom has a home daycare and she takes care of both Noah and Madison. They're so cute together. While I was home on break I tried to spend some time with them.
When we get married, Noah will be just 4 and Madison will be just 3. I think it will help that they know each other.

Just curious...how much time ahead of the wedding is it good to send out save the date cards? Our wedding is not until June of 2009 so we've got a little while to go but when would be a good time to do it?

Here they are! We went over to the lady's house so I could show the dress to my future mother in law and take some pictures. All the pictures I found online (in previous post) weren't very good depictions of the dress. So I wanted some of it actually on me!
It was really fun and my mother in law seemed to love the dress too. I'm so excited about it.

Erik left yesterday for Bloomington-Normal since he starts student teaching before I have to go back to classes next week. I decided to stay up here until Friday since he'll be busy with school stuff all week.
I miss him a lot already and he's only been gone a day. At least Friday is just a few days away...even though I don't want to go back to school, I do want to go back to him!

So after going to a tasting on Friday evening, we've decided to go with True Cusine for the catering at Danada House.
This caterer was on the list of Danada's choices. The woman who runs it seems very professional and obviously has a lot of experience in the business. I feel really comfortable with her and the food was excellent!

So now that my dress is going to be ivory instead of white, I started thinking about colors. I was thinking of just pairing up various shades of soft pinks with the ivory. Here are some flower pics I found. Let me know if you have an opinion on this combination.
I think I am wedding obsessed. The thing is I'm on break from school right now so I've got a lot of free time. I can't help but scour wedding websites! I'm starting to feel like it's taking over my life though! I think it will be good to go back to school in a few days. I have gotten a lot accomplished over the break though.

Here is the dress! We ordered it today. Mine is in ivory. I'm so excited about it! I got one in the ivory color. I love that it's antique looking. I'm looking forward to when it will finally come.

Gina has been my best friend since about 4th grade. Katie and Carmen and I met at ISU...we all are flutists, roommates, and great friends!

I love it! Worn it for close to 4 months now!

Just curious...how many bridal shops did some of you go to while looking for a dress? I've been to 3 stores so far. I found 1 dress at the first store, nothing at the second, and 3 I liked at the 3rd place. I'm going back to the ones where I liked dresses to try on those again. I'm just wondering if anyone has an opinion on how many stores you should go to when looking for a dress. I don't want to overwhelm myself but also don't want to not look enough.

After more dress shopping, I have realized that choosing a wedding dress is pretty overwhelming. Though I really like the dress at David's, my mom and I have been checking out some other places too...
Yesterday we went to Catherine Simms. I saw absolutely nothing there that I liked. I felt bad but it was a struggle to pick dresses to try on. We stayed about 20 minutes.
Today my mom and I visited a lady who runs a bridal store in her home. It was a delightful experience. She had me try on a bunch of beautiful dresses. I found 3 I really loved so I'm going back on Friday with my maid of honor. It was nice to have the individual attention and she wasn't pushy at all. Very helpful actually.
I'm terrible at making decisions so this will probably take a little bit. I'd like to order the dress soon even though I have a ton of time. Especially if it needs to be ordered and altered and everything.
Ah dress shopping....so fun but yet so difficult!

My mom and I went to David's Bridal today just to look around at dresses. This was my first time going dress shopping so it was a bit overwhelming! First of all, I didn't know you're supposed to make an appointment. Luckily, they were able to fit us in, we just had to wait awhile. I tried on a bunch of dresses.
I found a dress I absolutely love. It is not one I picked out in the magazine but once I put it on, I fell in love. It was the only dress that when I walked out, my mom smiled and looked like she really liked it. The lady next to us thought it looked great as well and wanted her daughter to try it on. Another younger girl passing by looked at me and smiled. I just felt very special in the dress. I felt like it really fit me too.

I'm going to take my maid of honor back to see it in a week and try it on with veils and such. It comes in petite sizes too which is great!

In my last entry I was disussing how I know I want pink at the wedding but I'm unsure of a good complimentary color to go with it. Does anyone have ideas of colors that would work well with pink? I know I don't want any brown but any other ideas would be very helpful! Thanks!

I just stumbled upon this website while looking for wedding ideas. It seems like a very neat thing to keep a blog during the whole planning process so I think I'll give it a try!
Erik and I have been engaged for a little over 3 months now and it has been wonderful. We have dated through most of college (it will be 3 years in February) and it feels so right to end our college careers with our engagement.
We started looking at rings this past summer and he told me the proposal would happen sometime before Thanksgiving. On September 16th, he came over with dessert (McFlurries to be exact). When we got into my room he handed me the ice cream and said, "I have something else for you too." He got down on one knee and asked if I would spend the rest of my life with him. It was a total surprise. We were both so excited...I couldn't stop smiling and shaking for the rest of the night.
My ring is simple and perfect for me. It is a three stone ring and I absolutely love it. It's weird because I've never worn rings before in my life. Somehow it was pretty easy to get used to wearing this one ;)
Telling people and starting to plan has been so much fun. My mom wanted to start planning right away and we first set the date. We chose June 20th of 2009 because I will graduate in May of 2009. I knew I wanted June and my mom said an even numbered day would be good. We started by reserving our church. From there we started to look at some reception sites since they book so fast!
After touring the Danada House, we knew it would be perfect for our day. It's a 100 year old house with an atrium that has just been added on in the back. The house will be used for getting ready/food prep/ and cocktail hour and then the guests move to the atrium for dinner and dancing!
Besides the sites, we met with a caterer and my mom and I are going dress shopping while I'm home on break. I've been scouring bridal magazines, making up guest lists, and finding websites like these.
We have also chosen the bridal party as well. My maid of honor is my best friend from high school and then two of my college friends will be the other bridesmaids. Erik chose his brother for best man and a high school and college friend for the other groomsmen. Our ring bearer will be my cousin's little boy and a neighbor girl of mine will be flower girl.
Our engagement party was yesterday. I didn't think we would have one and then my maid of honor planned a small gathering for us! It was supposed to be a surprise but someone ended up spilling the beans. It was still very fun despite the lack of surprise. We had about 20 people and had it at a pizza joint. We got some good "engagement" gifts and had fun celebrating with close family and friends.
As for now, I can't think of anything else to write about but I'm sure I will be updating soon. For anyone who reads through this long entry, are there any recommendations of colors that go well with the color pink?
