Pro-Pics!
Last but not least...the reception!
Oh my gosh...I've never had more fun in my life. This night was amazing!!!!
We had our reception at the Danada House in Wheaton, IL. We had cocktails in the house and the reception in their beautiful atrium. Obviously there were lots of great places for outdoor pictures as well. These are a few favorites from the night. People often say your wedding is the best day of your life. I always expected things to go wrong and for it to fall short. However, they were right. It ended up truly being the best day of my life. I married an amazing man and had a fairy tale day with my family and best friends. |

Formal Shots...
After the ceremony we took some formal shots. Here are some of my favorites from that!
This part of the day was probably the least fun. Trying to corral people is rough! |

Still waiting...
While we're waiting on pro-pics, here are some that Erik's family took! There are some nice ones and a good preview of what to come.
In other news, my maid of honor and one of my bridesmaids both just got engaged! I'm matron of honor for my MOH's and not sure yet about the other one. And Erik's brother is getting married next year so we'll have 3-4 weddings to go to in 2010. I'm getting excited to watch/help other people go through the process! |

Our Honeymoon
Here are some pics...
While we're still waiting on our professional wedding pics, I thought I would post some from our honeymoon!
We went to Playa del Carmen in Mexico (a little south of Cancun). We stayed for almost a week. We stayed at an all inclusive resort which was nice. We also went to Chicen Itza (Mayan ruins), Xel Ha (a waterpark), and 5th Avenue (their downtown). At Xel Ha we got to swim with dolphins which was amazing! It was a great trip but we're definitely ready to get back to some normalcy. We're having fun unpacking everything and decorating our apartment now. And there's a ton of busy work to take care of after the wedding...thank you's, changing your name stuff...all tedious! But married life has been pretty great so far! Next time I post will hopefully be professional wedding pics! |

Our Wedding!
The Re-cap
Hello everyone! I'm finally back on as Mrs. Abderhalden! It is so exciting and weird to say that!
So obviously I don't have professional pics yet but I'll post those as soon as I can. Here are a few teasers to start with though...I have some from the ceremony too but they are prints and not on the computer yet. Hopefully I'll have pro ones soon! Here's the re-cap... It was the best day of my life. Everything about the weekend was wonderful, magical, and indescribable. REHEARSAL DINNER DAY: The rehearsal dinner was a lot of fun. That day I had some time with my girls...we got manicures and pedicures, went to lunch, and checked on the flowers. We had so much fun getting our nails done and it was such a relief to see the flowers and know they were beautiful. After that we headed to the dinner. It was so lovely and so much fun. We had it at an Italian restaurant we love. We had the dinner before the ceremony...I would HIGHLY recommend doing this. Number one, people aren't crabby during the rehearsal because they're starving. Number two, if you have small kids, you don't have to worry about keeping them out too late. Number three, people won't drink as much and you can get to bed for the next day. Anyway, everyone had a great time at the rehearsal. Erik cried when we exchanged vows. It was so sweet. I just had such strong feelings I was doing the right thing by marrying this man. After the rehearsal we saw a magnificent rainbow. Without telling the long back story, I knew it was a sign from my Grandpa. It made me cry knowing my grandparents were all watching from above. Me and the girls rented "Bride Wars" and before bed I read the journal Erik had filled out for me. It made me cry...it was wonderful. WEDDING DAY! That morning was beautiful. Hot, but beautiful! I had breakfast with my parents and the girls and then we went down to get hair and makeup done. I had my extensions put in and they looked awesome...my hair dresser did an amazing job. After hair/makeup, we ate some Subway and headed to the church. We arrived and it was great...the flowers were almost all set up and they looked amazing in the church. Our photographer was there and everything was looking great. The girls got on their dresses and then I got dressed. My flower girl Madison came around 1 and she looked adorable! We couldn't get any formal shots before the ceremony because the outside was too bright so that kinda sucked but it worked out okay in the end. People kept stopping in to see me and when Erik's mom stopped in she started crying when she saw me. It was so sweet. The ceremony was amazing. Flute music, great readings, standing by Erik's side, seeing all our family and friends, and just feeling beautiful. It was awesome to get married in the church I've gone to since I was 2. So much has happened there. It was great. We were so shocked when it was over and we were married....FINALLY! Formal pictures were probably the worst part of the day. I tried to be sooo organized with those but it still was pretty chaotic. I seriously do not think there is a good way to do them. Luckily they were over soon. We took a limo to Danada House with the bridal party (except Erik's brother was suddenly MIA because he had to let his dog out?) Advice: tell people when you want them to be places...even obvious things like riding in the limo to the reception. Reception....fantastic as well. Cocktail hour was so nice because we got to greet people as they came in. The hall was gorgeous...I was so happy. Our DJ rocked...he made everything flow and played like every song we wanted. Toasts were so special. Erik and I danced and partied like never before. People had a great time and the dancing never quit. So many emotions....so many people....and we were married! Honestly, not much went wrong that day at all. We were so blessed, so lucky. Be meticulous with your planning...I felt like we were really prepared and it paid off big time! I will post more words of advice, honeymoon pictures, and professional pics. I could probably talk about my wedding for hours but no one wants that...haha! Moral of the story: it was amazing. I couldn't have asked for a better day or a better man to marry! |

Final Post Before I'm a Mrs.!
The Wedding is on Saturday!!!!
Wow! It's finally going to be here! I'm trying to practice flute or do something productive but am having no luck...I can't concentrate on anything!!!
It feels like a second ago that the counter on the side said hundreds of days were left until our wedding. It's been awhile since September of 2007! And now it is finally here...I couldn't be more ready! I'm nervous for the day and all the events happening but when it comes to marrying Erik, I feel great! It's a wonderful feeling to have. So I guess I'm going to make this my final post before Saturday. The guys are picking up their tuxes tonight, we're getting the Groom's cake, and then it's tomorrow! The girls come in early and we have a day full of getting our nails done, checking bouquets, making favors, and rehearsing for the big day! Before I make this my last post, I just want to say thank you to everyone on this site. It's been so nice to be part of a community of other brides who are as wrapped up in this stuff as I am! Haha. Seriously though, all of your words of encouragement and advice have been amazing. Everyone on here is planning an awesome wedding and should be proud of what they accomplishing! So thanks!!! And I will definitely be back on to post after the wedding! Probably not right after since we're leaving for Mexico Monday morning, but I will be soon! And to all other June 20 brides...have a fabulous, special day!!!! |

I Love Our New Apartment!
NWR...
Went down to Normal today to check out the new digs. Erik was already there since he had moved most of our stuff down on Saturday. Keep in mind, he picked out the place...I hadn't seen it until today when we moved in...so obviously I was nervous! Haha.
Outside of the place...not so great. Inside was pretty fantastic! Sooo spacious! Two bedrooms, walk in closet in our's, and all the rooms were really big! Nice neutral carpet and a fresh coat of paint. And...he had our nice table settings out on the table with a dozen roses! What a welcome! Needless to say, I'm very happy! Tomorrow: Meet with caterer, finish our online DJ stuff Wednesday: See a friend from out of town, pack for honeymoon Thursday: Pick up Groom's cake, finish any last minute things Friday: My bridesmaids come! Nail appointments in the morning, bouquet check in the afternoon, make favors, rehearsal dinner, rehearsal! Saturday: THE WEDDING!!!! I'm so excited!!!! |

Pet Peeve of the Day...
Why do people think they can bring random friends to the wedding?
I'm sick of people asking me if they can bring dates/friends to the wedding with less than a week to go!
A lot of people don't even want to bring a date but instead have asked to bring a good friend....um no! Ugh!!!!!!!!!! In more positive news...just days to go!!!! |
