Honeymoon
Location
Originally Erik and I envisioned going to Europe for our honeymoon. I've always wanted to go to so many places over there. Now though we're considering other things. With travel being so expensive, the dollar sucking right now, and other factors, we're reconsidering. So now I think our goal is to go to Europe by the time we're 30 and really make a big trip out of it: see lots of countries and really save up. Plus I want to relax on my honeymoon and I could see Europe being a bit stressful.
So now we're thinking Hawaii or Puerto Rico! Both places sound awesome to me. We're just getting started with our plans so is anyone going to these places/has gone to these places and has recommendations? We'd love to relax but also see things too.
I love getting advice from people on this site! Let me know what you think! Thanks!

i went to hawaii when i was in high school & loved it. i would love to go back & visit each island b/c we only went to the main island. we are going to puerto rico for our honeymoon though. from what i've seen it's beautiful. my FH's father lives over there as well... either place you choose will be a wonderful place to go!

I think it really depends on what your looking to spend.  Hawaii is gorgeous.  Ive never been there but I do know its a very expesive trip.  For me especially because Im on the East Coast.  Ive been to Puerto Rico and for the most part  it truly is beautiful and the shopping is amazing and I didnt pay a fraction of what I would have paid to go to Hawaii.  Good luck deciding.

Hawaii OR Puerto Rico???
This is a decision you can base primarily on cost, Hawaii being the more expensive (almost twice the cost for the same amount of time).

That, being said, I would still choose Hawaii **specifically Maui** as it is the island of love and is not the tourist ridden paradise.  Maui is much less touristy and offers more for those whom are in love -- I often discourage singles that want to travel to the islands from going to Maui alone because its known for romance.  There are several places on Maui that I could recommend (too many to list here) and others on the big island or other places.

Puerto Rico is a great place and if you are on a budget it might be the right choice.  There are a LOT of new resorts and hotels so finding a place that is clean and not run down will be easier than it was a few years back.  You can also encompass some water excursions more easily in PR than in Hawaii (cost wise) except fo scuba diving -->>Hawaiian Islands win hands down!

As a travel professional I'd be happy to send you information via email or postal mail if you'd like.  If I can be of service, great.  If not, happy to assist you either way and hope this is useful info for you.

Many Blessings,
Shaun McCoy
