How many of you ladies are taking your FH's surname?
Or maybe keeping your own? I know that some modern couples both hyphenate and have both surnames or sometimes the husband takes the brides!!! So what are you all doing?

I definitely want to take my FH's surname but i am not sure if i will keep mine as well and hyphenate them together (double-barrelled) but then does that sound pretentious?

My name right now is Samantha Evans
FH's surname is Yanatma (Turkish)

So will i become: Samantha Yanatma or Samantha Evans-Yanatma?

Hmmmmm... will think about this
the reason Evans is important is i am very proud of my welsh heritage (evans is welsh) and i am an only child so i am the last in the line so i would like it to keep going....

I personally am not a huge fan of hyphenated names but as an only child I could see why you want to keep a part of it. I would name my some Evan if I were you!

I'm definitely taking my FH's last name. I think it represents the fact that we become a single family unit. He's very proud to become the head of his own family and can't wait to have his name carried on. I'm a little sad that my own family name is reaching an end (my father was the only son of my grandparents and he had only daughters) but have decided for myself to just keep it as a middle name. I'm personally not a fan of hyphenated names, they just seem awkward but that's just me :)

I plan to take Brandon's last name. I understand your name being important to you, it's all about what you prefer. I'm not a fan of hyphenated names personally, but it's just because they usually sound strange. Talk it over with your FH and get his opinion.

My maiden name is Ashley Dorough (door-oh).
My married name will be Ashley Weikle (wy-kul).

I know his name is a little strange, but I honestly prefer it to my maiden name.

hey ladies thanks for all your comments- thats what i was worried about- the hyphenated name sounding pretentious so i think i am gonna go with just my FHs name- I am proud to take his name and i love that its different (being Turkish)
So Mrs Samantha Yanatma here i come!!!! lol
