Wedding Reception
Back again! september2010bride's reception details!!!
Hi ladies! So sorry I haven't been on here in a while for post-wedding updates. Still waiting on our pro photos.......I'll post some as soon as we get them back from our photographer. In the meantime, here are some reception detail shots. A photographer in training that works at the country club took these and the events coordinator just emailed them to me last week. Enjoy!!
I'll be back soon for more updates on the last minute chaos before the wedding, the rehearsal dinner, the wedding day itself, advice for future brides, honeymoon details, and a wedding day video recap! I miss posting on here and reading other brides' posts, so I'm going to try to get on here more to leave comments for other brides-to-be and to share advice and ideas from my own experience! :) |

DIY Wedding
september2010bride's cardbox, etc.
As I mentioned in my last post...the last two weeks before the wedding were SO CRAZY BUSY that I didn't have time to blog about my last minute DIY projects. So even though it's now post-wedding, I want to share some of these last minute things with you!
The weekend before the wedding I went to my parents' house (where I was keeping all my wedding supplies) and worked non-stop on my final projects. 1) Cardbox - I bought a paper mache box from Michael's. I covered the lid with sheet moss (also from Michael's). I bought some birch bark sheets on ebay and hot glue gunned them around the box. Cut a slit in top with an exacto knife and also carved our names and wedding date on the bark with the knife. Voila....a nature inspired card box :) 2) Menu cards/ bird nest favors - I posted about the menu cards in a previous blog. The pic is of the menu cards with the bird nest favor placed on top. My mom and I tied a ribbon around each bird nest with a love birds "thank you" card attached. We filled the nests with premium M&M's. One side of the tag has our personalized love birds stamp. The side is a cute love birds "thank you for coming" tag that I found a FREE template for online. Check it out here: http://prettychicky.com/1771/diy/free-diy-template-rectangular-wedding-favor-tags 3) Moss covered letters - I bought paper mache letters at Michaels and reindeer moss. I hot glue gunned clumps of moss on to cover the letters. I only took a pictures of the M...but I also did an "S" for Scott and a "W" for our last name. They were displayed on the escort rock table at the reception (stay tuned for pictures....) |

Officially a Mrs........
september2010bride is back!
It's so hard to believe we're married now! I'm so happy :) It's actually a bittersweet feeling.....I'm overjoyed with newlywed bliss and knowing that our wedding was so beautiful that it was worth all the stress and details! But, I'm also a little depressed that it's all over now and that the day went by SO fast. Wish we could go back and do it all over again in slow motion to pick up on all the details that we missed during our day (my head was spinning with following the schedule for the day and making sure we got around to chat with everyone).
The past few weeks have been such a whirlwind of emotions and events....from the last minute DIY projects, a really fun rehearsal dinner/evenings, a beautiful wedding that flashed by, and a romantic honeymoon. It's been so nonstop busy, that I haven't posted a blog since a week and a half before our wedding! What I'd like to do is continue the blog where I left off (adding some of my final DIY projects) before I start to give the run down and pictures of all the main events....rehearsal dinner, the BIG day and our honeymoon. For now...here's a very brief sneak peak at some pics that friends took during the day! Enjoy! |

Looking for cute flats or flip flops???
I stumbled upon these on Zappos.com while looking for flats or flip flops to change into for the reception. Back a few months ago when I was searching for shoes, I don't recall seeing either one....maybe they're new? Anyways, I ordered both........both are even cuter in person and I'm trying to decide which ones to keep. I'm leaning toward the flip flops. Just wanted to share with all you ladies in case any of you are looking for flats or flip flops.
P.S. The flats are great because they aren't completely flat...the padding on the inside is raised up about 3/4 inch in heel part. Very comfy and gives you a tiny lift. |

Flower girl gifts!
september2010bride can't wait to give them all this cute stuff!
I finished purchasing the flower girl gifts today. I ordered a small tote bag with their name embroidered on it (see second pic). One will get the bright pink one and the other will get the light pink one. They should arrive by the end of the week. I'm going to fill each tote with all these cute little goodies!
1) Pandora flower bead charm....they both already have bracelets 2) Small hair flowers to wear on the big day 3) Mini ice cream sundae-shaped lip gloss (so cute! I want one for myself..hehe!) 4) Mini nail polish....horray for this find in the Target dollar section!!! I think they are both going to love all their cute stuff! What do you all think? What did you get for your flower girl(s)??? |

It was perfect!
september2010bride's shower
I was lucky enough to have two bridal showers. My future mother in law threw me one up here in Michigan the first weekend of August. Then, my maid of honor and her mom threw me one in my hometown in the Cleveland area. They were both fantastic!
These pics are all from the second shower (I didn't get any pics yet from the first one). The food was delicious and so many people came out to celebrate the occasion. We got lots of wonderful gifts! My maid of honor and bridesmaids did a fantastic job organizing everything!!! Even though it's a few weeks late, I just wanted to share! |

Best man bailed on the rehearsal
what a schmuck!
Scott's best man called him tonight to tell him that he cannot make it to the ceremony rehearsal or rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding. Apparently, he and his wife have filed for bankruptcy and they have their meeting scheduled that afternoon. He says he tried to reschedule it and they can't. Somehow I don't really believe that he tried all that hard to reschedule.
It makes me SO angry that he just acted like it was no big deal that he is missing the rehearsal. He told Scott, "I've been in a ton of weddings. I know what to do." GRRRR! That's not really even the point. The point is that he is the BEST MAN and should be there to support his best friend the night before the most important day of his life. I'm fuming right now not only because I'm stressed that he won't be there but mostly because it breaks my heart to see Scott upset about this. I just want to punch the "best man" in the face!!! Scott is debating whether he should "fire" him as best man and ask one of the other groomsmen to be the best man instead. Would you be upset? What would you or your FH do in this situation? |

Honeymoon
Finger Lakes NY....here we come!
We officially booked our honeymoon last week!!!! After several recs from fellow WBC brides (a speical thanks to Tashasita & PurpleNat), we decided that the Finger Lakes region in upstate NY would be perfect for us. First of all, Scott HATES to fly.......so I agreed to go someplace within driving distance of Cleveland. And second, we are very "outdoorsy" people - we love to camp, hike, bike ride, and just enjoy the beautiful scenery of nature. The Finger Lakes area looks beautiful....and it should be especially pretty in early fall! There are lots of state parks with hiking and amazing waterfalls, etc. Plus, there are TONS of wineries in the area. In fact, there are 18 within a 15 mile stretch right on the main road near the cottage we rented! WOOHOO! The cottage we rented has two kayaks and a canoe that we can take out on the lake. I've done a lot of research and it looks like there are lots of nice restaurants in the area too for some evening "dates". I'm so happy we found this cottage...it's located on Seneca lake right in the middle of the sites we want to check out so I think it will be perfect and VERY relaxing!
Any suggestions for anything else we should check out while we are there? Loislovesclark gave me some restaurant tips in one of my previous blog posts (thanks again!). Anyone else have any restaurants or wineries to recommend??? |

Ask a Question
Is it terrible to invite "B" list people verbally and with only 3 weeks notice?
So, Wednesday is our deadline for RSVPs. Due to the fact that our wedding is out of town for my co-workers, FH's extended family, and some of FH's friends.......we've gotten a lot more "declines" than expected. My FMIL invited a lot of her aunts and uncles (who are in their 70s and 80s) thinking they would come, but who are not because it's a 5 hours drive for them, etc. Because she is contribuiting to our wedding and it was important to her to invite so much of her extended family & friends, FH & I cut down our "friends" list to make room. Now at the last minute, we have room to invite more. My question is, would it be okay for me to call or email some college friends that weren't originally invited, explain the situation, and invite them to come last minute? Do you think they would be happy to get an invite last minute or would it be tacky and rude to do this??? Help!
