Ask a Question
How do you balance work, personal life AND wedding planning?
Calling all WBC ladies!
How do you manage it all? Over the past while, my work has been extremely busy. Lots of long hours without much opportunity for a break means that when I get home I'm too tired to do much at all - let alone work on wedding planning. I know that this time is just going to fly by and I really want to enjoy it, but right now work seems to be getting in the way. How do you cope, ladies? Any tips for how to fit it all in while still enjoying the wedding planning journey? |

Are you on Pinterest?
Like so many others, I have recently discovered the wonderful world of Pinterest.
There are so many amazing things to look at - recipes, home decor, travel ideas and, of course, wedding inspirations! My sister and I have made a pact to do a project that we found on Pinterest at least once a month to make sure it doesn't turn into another social media time drain. So far, the projects I've tried have been recipes, but I can't wait to add wedding diy to the list! Are other WBC ladies on Pinterest? I'd love to follow you! What is your favourite wedding movie?
Happy weekend, everyone!
I don't know about anyone else, but planning a wedding has really brought me back to a lot of wedding-y movies and TV shows. What are you favourites? My top 5: 1. The Wedding Singer - The song Adam Sandler sings on the plane is just so sweet. 2. Bridesmaids - Loved that this movie was all about the girlfriends - and Melissa McCarthy was amazing! 3. 27 Dresses - Best wedding movie fashion show, for sure. 4. Father of the Bride - A classic. What I imagined planning a wedding to be like when I was a little girl. 5. The Hangover - A wedding movie for guys :) |

April To-Do List
Hey ladies,
The past few weeks have been crazy - and just like that we are under 200 days to go! I have been feeling the need to get better organized lately, so I've decided to follow the lead of @tiffanyranaekasten and make myself an April to-do list. Attire: - go shopping with the ladies for bridesmaids' dresses - make sure my FH and his groomsmen get measured for their tuxes - start looking for my shoes - start looking for my jewellery (I am wearing my great-grandmother's necklace from her secret engagement, but I need to look for earrings and maybe a bracelet) Invitations: - load guest list into wedding website - finish wedding website - find printer and order invitations - decorate invitations - address and send invitations Reception: - get FH to look into a DJ - look into possibilities for recording processional music Health/Beauty: - I signed up for Weight Watchers this month, so I'm going to work on that - Get gym routine set up Ok...I was going to add more stuff, but I think that might be too ambitious. What do you think, ladies? Any advice/feedback? |

DIY Wedding
Invitation designed!
Hey ladies!
Sorry I've been MIA for the past couple of weeks. Lots of wedding planning going on: - We successfully set up our registry last weekend. My FH was very patient, even though shopping is one of his very least favourite things :) - My hair trial is booked for two weeks before the big day. And the makeup and hair appointments are booked for my girls... - We did our taste testing at our venue, which went swimmingly - more info to come in another post... - And our invitations are designed! I actually have access to Adobe InDesign at work, so I stayed late a few nights, and voila! The pics show the front and back sides. The heart at the top is actually made up of our two thumbprints, and I'm hoping to use that image for other stationary things like the menus or escort cards. The plan is to get them printed on 5X7 cardstock at a printing shop, and then I'm going to recruit a few ladies to help me jazz them up a bit with some of my Mom's scrapbooking tools. Now all I have to do is finish setting up our wedding website to handle all the RSVPs. What do you think, ladies? |

Successful Weekend
Tuxes picked and guestbook bought!
Success! This Saturday, we got two more things nailed down for the wedding.
First we picked out the tuxes for my FH and the groomsmen. Moore's had a new Vera Wang style available that comes in a slender, more fitted style. Since my FH is a tall, slim guy, I think it will look really great on him. The pic here is with a bowtie, but our guys will have vests and long ties. My FH will have a champagne coloured vest and tie, and the groomsmen will have black. All my bridesmaids will be wearing different dresses, in a range of colours, so our plan is to coordinate the guys' boutinieres to match with the girls. So, after we picked out the tuxes, we went to Chapters (the Canadian Barnes and Noble), and found our guest book. I had been wanting to do something a little different for our guest book. I saw an idea in Martha Stewart where someone had used a big coffee table book as a guest book, and had people sign around the pictures. My initial idea was to buy a nice hardcover version of a classic fairytale, like Beauty and the Beast, and have people sign on the pages. But, on a previous shopping trip, the children's book "The Biggest Kiss" caught my eye. It's an adorable little book, and very sweet. And, because it's a picture book, there is lots of space for people to write around the pictures and text. We'll have silver and gold sharpies available for people to sign with, which should look good. And the best part is, we'll one day be able to share this book with our kids. The FH approved, and the guest book is done! So pumped to have things moving forward! |

Tuxedo Trip
This weekend my FH and I are going to pick out the tuxedos for our bridal party. We're getting a great deal through Moore's (for all you Canadian brides), so it should be lots of fun.
It's actually a part of the wedding that I haven't thought that much about. Have you picked out your tuxes yet? What style are you going for? My bridesmaids haven't picked out their dresses yet (they're all picking their own), but they will be wearing different colours from our palette. But I think I want the guys' ties/vests to be all the same colour. What do you think? Match with the girls, or with each other? Happy weekend, ladies! |

Inspiration Board
As you ladies know, we are going for a soft and romantic theme. These are a few inspiration boards I've been looking at, as well as the colour swatches I sent to my bridesmaids. Let me know what you think!

Wedding Hair Style
Opinions, please!
So, now that I have my dress (yay!), it's time to start thinking about my hair.
My hair is long and thick, with quite a bit of body...in other words, it tends to have a mind of its own (especially when I really need it to behave). With this in mind, I definitely want to have an updo of some kind so that I'm not fretting about it all day. Also, all the ads of my dress have updos, so I think an updo would go best with my dress. The four pics here are some ideas that I have. I want my hair to be soft and romantic. I haven't decided yet what I'm doing for a headpiece. I don't want a veil, but I will probably do some of kind of hairpiece or something. What do you think, ladies? Do you like these styles? Think they'll go with my dress? |
