I love the victorian look
I like the pink bouquets, not the bride's plain one
I think these colors are a little to vivid

I like this, but would want brighter pinks

Wedding Flowers
How soon should I meet with a florist and other flower related questions!

I'll only be ordering bouquets and boutonnières since we're planning on having candelabra for centerpieces. I feel kind of silly ordering these nine months before the wedding, but my planning book says I should be ordering now!

I'm not entirely sure what kind of flowers I want either. I really don't know what would go best with my theme but the pictures are a few of my favorites. Any advice?

Also, does anyone know if peonies are expensive? Or what is the best kind of flower to buy towards the end of May?

p.s. One more question! Should I bring FH? Is that something the men get dragged along to?

From what I understand peonies are pretty expensive, but garden roses look very similar and a better price.  That's what my florist is going to do.  If you aren't ready to commit to anything I bet you could still meet with the florist to discuss things.  You can show them what you are thinking and they can make suggestions and give you an estimate of the price.  Then you could put a deposit or whatever is needed to get your name in the books and reserve your spot so they aren't too booked to fit you in.

i know what you mean! im not sure when i should order flowers too haha. i've been looking through bridal magazines & whenever i see flowers or bouquets i like, i rip them out & keep them as ideas to bring to whichever florist i decide on.  what colors do you want with your flowers & what are your fave flowers? plus im sure you could google when flowers are in season.

peonies can be expensive..exsp if our to season. Dont bring your FH lol... guys generally hate flowers and all that jazz haha...save the agony. I would go sometime in the next few months.. 9 months is a bit early in my books but it doesnt hurt to price a few places out and get ideas now... best wishes

omg girl JUST WAIT!  I ALREADY WENT DOWN THAT ROAD!!  I've been all about being on schedule from theknot.com.  It tells you when to start talking to people and putting down deposits and such.  I went to talk to the florist about 2 months ago (my wedding is in april 2010) and the lady there kind of gave me this weird look like What the hell are you doing here now!?

I was embarrassed..... I SAY WAIT!!! lol!!!!

I would bring your maid of honor mom or a bridesmaid. I'd say not to bring more than one or two people cuz too much opinion is not good sometime. you gotta find a florist that knows what she/he is talking about. my wedding is 10/10/10 and i already booked my florist the florist usually orders the flowers 2 months before the wedding but if you book now you can always ass of subtract from what you had originally picked!

I say do it now!!! I hate waiting to the last min. And my florist thought i was on perfect timing..

There's nothing wrong with booking ahead of time, so if you can do it now then I'd say to go ahead and get it done.  Waiting until the last minute is frustrating.  If you do decide to wait, you still have plenty of time, but I would leave the FH out of this one.  My FH just wanted to know what I wanted and how expensive it was going to be...other than that he said he really didn't care about the flowers one way or the other.  From what I understand, peonies are one of the more expensive flowers out there.  (They were almost doube the cost of some of the roses I was looking at.)  If you have your heart set on them, then get them, but if not then I'd stick with the roses.  Good luck!  (Oh, and bring pics of how you'd like the boutineers to look to the florist as well!  Same thing if you're getting corsages done for the mother of the bride and groom.)

i asked my sister how soon i should meet with a florist (she just got married so i'm always bugging her!! haha) & she said 6 months before. she went 4 months before & said she didn't have enough time.  i love your bouquet choices & i read that peonies aren't cheap, but aren't expensive, if that makes sense?i think i'm going to do white anemones (they look pretty & the black center fits my colors) & maybe perhaps add ranunculus to them too!! your color choices are pretty & romantic too

I ordered my flowers already, and that was at the beginning of october.. the florist that Im using helped me immensly and she even talked me out of calla lilies for my time of year, they would be more expensive etc.. she made me a gorgeous boquet and the girls boquets etc. as a sample.. Make sure the florist you pick can do that for you... I had to put down a minimum of 25 dollars which was great.. and I have since ordered more flowers for the tables..  I would do it in the next couple of months...or u can even order now

One florist I went too that I had an appointment with she had nothing to show me at all... was I completely disappointed and I walked out and went where my friend told me to go, and I am so happy with my florist.. Im leaving it up to her.
