So I just decided to call him “Sexy Voice Man”. My friend’s sister was graduating from highschool also, so I was over to watch her get ready and celebrate a bit before she left for the ceremony. We were waiting for her escort to arrive. Being only 14 at the time, I didn’t know who her escort was because he was 19. I asked my friend who he was and she said, “Oh, just some guy from out of town.” That was the end of that... Before Safe Grad was to start, my boyfriend introduced me to “Sexy Voice Man”. Again telling me his name but has history repeats itself, I couldn’t remember it. I was just mortified my boyfriend did such a thing, because I secretly had a crush on this guy, (well actually only his voice because this was our first time formally meeting.) After we said our Hi’s and Bye’s I headed home thinking that was the end of that. After awhile I started to go to house parties on the weekends. I saw this guy a few times who I thought was cute, but I was still with my boyfriend and he was with his girlfriend. I didn’t know his name and he didn’t know mine. October 2003 I broke it off with my boyfriend. It was thanksgiving weekend and all the kids were back from college for the holiday. That meant lots of big parties. My girlfriend told me about a party she knew about so I went with her. After awhile I saw fellow standing in the kitchen. A few times we both tried to make small talk, but if it wasn’t girls trying to get me to dance or ex’s that would show up and harass us it was something else. We just could not seem to sit down and talk. I had a part-time job at a grocery store. There was one guy inpeticular that came in the a lot. A friend I worked with always went over and chatted with a guy by the name of Mike. Everytime I tried to strike up a conversation it was short and sweet. I figured he didn’t like me, for whatever reason. If you don’t know already,Halloween is my FAVOURITE time of the year. So when it actually landed on a Friday I couldn’t have been more happy. All we needed was to find a party. A volleyball tournament was out of town that weekend, so there was about 5 of us left in town. Being in highschool, grade 12, Halloween, Friday night, we were desperate. I thought, “Da heck with it. I’ll ask Mike.” Sure enough, I served him at the grocery store. He was working nights and came in for a sub. I went for it. Asked him what he was doing the next night and we should all dress up and have some drinks. He said maybe, but he was supposed to go to out of town in the morning for a Halloween party there. I decided then and there I had made a fool of myself infront of this cute boy and still had no where to go. After school the next day a buddy called me and told me the party was at Mike's. I couldn’t believe it! Sweet! Like any other gathering there are games and such. There was a total of 8 people. We had to become creative to get any sorta game going. We were playing this one, where a dice was rolled and if a certain number appreared a “rule” was made. Apparently the girls saw the chemistry between Mike and I and decided one of these rules were for Shay & Mike to kiss. As the night progressed, we would end up talking and sitting with each other where we didn’t even hear people talking. Eventually they would yell and us to pay attention to the game. Finally after awhile I looked over to see what game they were playing now and everyone was gone. That is when Mike “asked me out.” And the rest is history... or so we thought. A few months into the relationship we got talking about how we met and had a crush on each other for awhile but could never pursue it. Mike asked me, “Do you remember talking to me on the phone that one night?” I answered with a puzzled look on my face and said, “No. We’ve never talked on the phone before this.” “Yes you did. One night at your boyfriend’s you guys all called me and you and I talked briefly.” I was ALMOST speechless. I was dating “Sexy Voice Man!” I said to Mike, “Do you know how long I have had a crush on you! You are like a superstar to me!
