The Proposal
WE ARE ENGAGED!
I have been playing around on the site, patiently awaiting to be proposed to...well on Monday July 13 my boyfriend of 4 1/2 years asked me to marry him!! Here is how it happened!!
Rick told me that we were going on a special date on Monday and that I needed to wear long pants and tennis shoes. I had no idea what we were going to do, but I hoped it wasn't outside because the weather report called for rain. Monday morning, we drove out to "secret destination" but it wasn't until we reached Lake Lanier Resort that it stopped raining. We were given two helmets and told to wait while they picked out horses for us. (By this time, I figured we were going on a horseback ride.) They got our horses ready and we got on. Rick's horse's name was Rose and my horse's name was Buck (which scared me a little...I hoped he didn't live up to his name!). Our guide led us on the trail, up and down hills. We had a great view of the lake pretty much the whole time. The weather was perfect, the sun had began to peek through the clouds and there was a gentle breeze blowing. It was beautiful!! We even saw a young deer in the woods...it was only a few feet from us! After about 45 minutes of riding, the manager met us to take our horses back to the stables. She told me that Rick had a surprise waiting for me. We walked down to the edge of the water, and there was a picnic waiting for us. On a red and white checkered blanket there was a great feast. It consisted of a cheese and fruit tray, four sub sandwiches, key lime pie, chocolate covered strawberries, and champagne. From our picnic, we were able to see the beach and water park across the lake and hear the music. But before we ate, Rick suggested we walk to the very edge of the water. There were shells everywhere! While I was busy looking at the shells, he got really quiet. Then he told me to look into the woods, that there was a family of deer. I looked and looked but couldn't see them. He turned me around and got down on one knee. He said, "Ok, there wasn't a family of deer, but will you start a family with me?" The rest is kind of fuzzy for both of us, but I know I said yes!! We returned to our picnic and ate the yummy food and enjoyed the champagne. It was the best day of our lives...so far! |
