I'll make monograms for upto 5 brides for FREE!
I'm a designer and have been thinking of making a slight career shift and start working on wedding related designs. I'm 5 weeks away from my wedding so I'm not able to design any stationary at this point (definitely will after my wedding!), but I thought I'd help out some WBC brides and add to my portfolio by designing a monogram for the first 5 brides that contact me.
I will need some info like: - your names - date - colors - if you have a theme - or any general idea of what your style is I've uploaded some i've done in the past UPDATE: Wow!, thanks for the kind words ladies. I will be doing monograms for younglove, may23bride2be, mandilambert08, only1clt, and lizzsdrmwedd. The other ladies, I don't want to commit to doing more at this time as my wedding is 5 weeks away. Have both set of parents met to discuss wedding details?
As our wedding is only 5 weeks away and all details are pretty much dealt with. I'm just wondering how your set of parents have dealt with the details.... if they are contributing of course. Have they formally sat down with eachother to discuss, spoken through the phone or are you the middleman between the two sides?? Just wondering what the norm out there is.

My FMIL went gown looking last week and then got me to go with her to look at 2 of her favs to help her choose. She got this one. A Mon Cheri Montage gown, it looks awesome on her! I couldn't help but smile while she was wearing it. She looked like a hot mama!! I find there's a lot of old granny gowns out there and neither my FMIL or my mother are old ladies so they need something that makes them look sexy but still appropriate for them. We definitely found it. She got shoes in copper and matching clutch purse. She's set!... :)

What are you doing for kissing games?
We had a meeting with our wedding planner last week and she asked what we wanted to do for kissing games. Quite honestly, I don't know! Other than the traditional clinking of glasses, some have the guests go up and say a story or sing a song so the bride and groom can kiss, others have guests go up and kiss and they have to re-enact their kiss. I really don't want to do any of those...I've seen them too many times. At my cousin's wedding in May they had people donate money to the Heart and Stroke foundation in honour of his father who died from a heart condition. I think that was wonderful. I don't want to do the same since it was just a few months ago, but I love how original that idea is.
Does anyone have any kissing game ideas??? |

Update on venue situation
Crisis averted?...time will tell
Well for anyone who saw my freak out a few weeks ago when I found out that another sales consultant at our venue booked our ballroom for the same day until 4 pm (see post below), here is an update.
I found out that its only 1/3 of our ballroom that is booked, and although they have the ballroom until 4pm.. their program only goes until 1pm. I did give the hotel a very hard time about the situation. Letting them know that I'm not impressed with them. So what happened is that the hotel has booked off the ballroom all day Friday so that the wedding planner can set up, along with the rentals place that will set up the backdrop. The tables will be set up for everywhere except the ballroom portion that is booked by the others (a military group). The backdrop is to be placed in the portion of the ballroom that is booked by the others so they will have no choice but to have it there (I believe they'll box it off with dividers). The tables that are to be in that section will be set up in one of the other portions and ready to be moved in when the room is free. Since the booked portion is also where the dance floor is going to be, I don't see many tables needing to be moved in. Anyways, the hotel sales consultant called my wedding planner to discuss the time she needed and since she has Friday to set up all the tables, she said she could do it. At that point, I said ok. If the wedding planner says she can work with that, then who am I to argue??... Its not ideal; however, as long as it all looks good by the time guests arrive that's all that matters to me. We have a meeting with the hotel to discuss details next week so I'll get to see then when how big the portion that is booked really is. Wish me luck that this works out! |

DIY Wedding
Lots done...and more to go!
I haven't posted for over a week! I had last week off to get some of my DIY items done and to start packing up my stuff to move into our new home. We're only moving in after the wedding (we're trying to be as traditional as we can...I think its cute!) but we need to have our stuff moved in my the end of this month. I don't want to deal with moving too close to the wedding and when guests start to arrive, its definitely not the time t do it. So anyways, we're doing it slowly and our house is being to look like our home.
Some DIY I got to last week...first up, the bridesmaid loot bags. I found these bags at Old Navy for $5.99...what a steal! And then I picked up some iron-transfers at Michaels for $1....I just ironed them on and voila!... $6.99 for bridesmaid loot bags, much cheaper than buying it already made for $24 and up! Now, I'll fill it with little things I've purchased for them throughout the engagement. I'll post a picture of the actual loot when I begin to fill the bags. Next is a pictures of the plum sash I made for the flower girl. Her dress didn't come with an option of a sash in plum so I bought some fabric and made one myself. Its hard to see in the pictures but the fabric has some embroidery. It looks so cute. I love how it turned out. I think she's just going to look amazing!...and she's just so excited about being a part of the wedding! The next picture is of the aisle runner. This is an on-going project...its taken forever but it already is looking nice. First I added lime green trim to the plum fabric and then traced our monogram. This picture is of what it looks like to that point. I've begun to paint it already. Another day of work on it and it should be done!... I'll post pictures of it the final product when its complete. This weekend we also started working on our favors. I finally had everything we needed to complete them. I've posted some pictures of the results. We placed M&M's in pouches, and then tied it with a tag that says thanks and our date along with a little charm of the back of a vintage car that says "Just Married." We placed that inside the gold pillow pockets and tied a plum ribbon around it. Finished it off with a label of our monogram. I think they look really cute!! So I got a few things off my list this past week but I've still got some more to go!!... 39 days to go! YIKES! :) |

I never posted the jewellery I got for my flower girl and Jr.bridesmaid. Here it is. Its a little hard to see but its a cute little necklace with alternating pearls and jewels. Perfect for younger girls. I got the pearl earrings for the flower girl and the drop earrings for the Jr. Bridesmaid since she love drop earrings.

We got it!
On Tuesday we went to get our marriage license since we had our interview scheduled with our priest on Wednesday and he asked us to bring it. It was a funny feeling to get it cause its make us one step closer to being husband and wife!
Now its just waiting for the signatures! :) 39 days to go! |

Time is winding down; where are they?
Our RSVP deadline is Tuesday...my portion of the guest list have nearly all responded by now....only about 12 to go. By my FH's portion are so behind! Its funny, but his portion started responding back first (definitely eager beavers) but then it came to a halt and my side came from behind and just dominated the mailbox. So I'm hoping the mailbox tonight will be PACKED! We have to give numbers to the venue on July 1st...our first payment is due! So i'm starting to get a bit nervous about the late senders. I've put it into FH's ear that maybe he should mention something to those yet to respond if he sees them so we make less calls next week.
So far the totals are: Sent: 176 invites Responses back: 130 Not yet replied: 46 |

Venue booked another event the same day!!
Ok, I'm trying to breathe deeply!..with 7 weeks to go until our wedding, I just got an email from my venue consultant that says...
Just to give you a heads up. I took a look in the system and one of our other sales staff has sold the ballroom the day of your wedding until 4:00pm. There will be no problem for the hotel to change over the room from one event to your wedding for 6:00pm as that will give us 2 hours. I am concerned about how much decorating you are having in the room. Do you have a decorator that will be decorating it for you? If so, what will they be doing? Please let me know as soon as possible. I am so sorry about this, typically we do have a lot of weekend bookings other than weddings so I was a little surprised to see it there. ------------------------------ WTF!!! AHHHHHHHHH!!!! Ok, this is not ok and our reception doesn't start at 6:00 pm but rather cocktails are at 5:30 and the harpist will begin playing at 5:00 pm! There is no way this is going to work!...we have so many details for my wedding planner to set up. She even said that if she could get in at 5am, she would rather get there and do the whole set-up early instead of panicking during a time-crunch. OH MY!!!! I have responded back and advised that this is NOT OK! I explained all the details (we are having a seated meal) including the details to EACH place setting for over 350 people! Ok, I need to calm down....where's the Tequila!?? |
