Change is Good.
starting over..
Hey folks!

A quick thank you to those of you who have me as a 'fav' however, i'm not sure if u will still enjoy my page because......

My new color is blue and grey. Hahaha oh my goodness... So we changed our wedding to a simple family affair of about 12 people plus my FH and I. We are putting up a tent in a garden, decorating it with tulle, lights, and a few long rectangular tables running the length of the tent for an intimate dinner.. just what we had in mind BEFORE it got out of hand. However, i asked my FH yesterday if there was anything he would like to see or change about the wedding decor that i showed him and he says... well i would like to see some blue in there, it's my fav color. Sure i say! How about a light periwinkle blue? no no no... it has to be bright Ski-Doo blue(for his love of snowmobiling and his 2nd woman, the summit XP). SO .. i am not a fan of creamsicle orange and bright blue together... therefore we have now changed not only the wedding but the whole color scheme(Good thing we hadn't purchased any decor items yet, and flowers can be changed) So now we're going with Grey, Blue, and White.

I'm seeing white folding garden chairs, a medium grey floor length table cloth, a thick pinstriped table runner in shades of blue, grey, and white, and varying thickness of stripes, with napkins made out of the table runner material. My centerpieces will now be multiplied and run the table length and be all white flowers now. Also..Tulle and twinkle lights will be adorning the ceiling of the small tent and down the side posts and i think might be tied back by little strips of the pinstripe table runner posing as ribbon. A small scale cake.. plain white, 2 tiers, square, with a bit of the blue/grey/white pinstriping. And if i'm feeling so inclined and depending on the materials i get for the table runner, i was thinking of wrapping the wire of the twinkle lights with leftover material, bring a bit of blue to the ceiling without being obvious... Phew! Thats just what i came up with yeserday evening when he dropped the blue bomb on me. I think it'll work. Oh and now of course my dream of orange callas will die and i will either have white callas or a bouquet like my centerpieces. As well, the corsages/bouts will still be the white roses tied with wire but now i might try and see if we can get a blue wire. And i had a dream of blue shoes so that'll work out great! I'll keep you posted! I hope ot head to the fabric store this weekend and start my search for the pinstriped material i see in my head(good luck... ever notice how when ur on a mission for something u can't find it ANYWHERE)... so thank you to my orange wedding fans, but i am now blue/grey. Sigh.. i will miss u orange.

up the date
It's ok to change your mind.. right?
Not about the wedding, but just.. .when the wedding is.... like bumping it up to March or April... and cutting the guest list by ohhhh sayyyy EVERYBODY. hahaha. I may have finally convinced my fiance that we should have a small wedding of just parents and siblings.. making it around 14 people plus us and our maid of honor/best man. That's a far cry from our current 140 or so guest list... and i'm loving it! He also doesn't wanta big wedding(hates the people, hates the toasts, hates the hoopla), but he doesn't want to hurt his family who all seem to want to be there for the big day. This, however, means i hsould invite my family.. and then we have to pay for everybody to eat food and drink and a place for them to party. Why should we pay 10000 plus for a big party just so people can say 'congratulations'. F*#$ That! So now he is wanting to talk to his parents and see how they feel... oh the in laws.. don't get me wrong i love them.. but they have a hypocritical stance of .. have a big party for all our family and friends.. but .. wedding shouldn't cost you so much money! UHMMM HELLO that's what it costs to feed your family and friends!
My fiance is worried about hurting people, especially since word is out when and where the wedding is even though the invites have yet to be printed or sent. But i figure... it's our wedding, other people should respect the fact that we want what we want. And if they don't then do i really care if they care? It would be stupid of me to expect them to throw a big expensive party so i can tell them congratulations on getting married if that's not what they want. So lets hope the peace talks go well with the in laws(who, by the way, so far aren't donating anything to the wedding, but want the most from the wedding.)... I can understand that my fiance wants to keep them happy but i think they should just back down and say 'do what you like'... anybody else agree??

Blue Wedding Decoration Wedding Decorator CANCELLED! GRRRRRRRRRR.

Wedding Decoration
Wedding Decorator CANCELLED! GRRRRRRRRRR.
I am so annoyed!!! I had it all set up, exactly what i wanted, what it would cost, went over everything with her but she screwed me. I suppose it's my own fault... She was new to the business, just trying to get her foot in the door actually. She had done her wedding and a few friends weddings... so she was going to do it for a really decent price(u know how i love to save a buck!). So we agreed on a contract signing in January because we had just shelled out a bunch of money for deposits in a short period of time, christmas is on it's way, and she needed time to draw up a contract... so a few days ago i get an email saying due to personal and job stuff she can't do my wedding and she hopes that she has given me enough time to find somebody else.

I am kind of glad that we hadn't given a deposit or signed a contract because really, what does it do? I could take her to court and spend more money than i had planned to spend on decor just to get her to do it? or to get my deposit back? And then what if she had done it.. like she really would have done a good job after being forced into it... no hard feelings or anything. And then do u take her to court again for doing a sucky job?? Blah!

So now i have to contend with all of the xmas engagements(busy season for proposals i'm sure) who are planning to marry next summer as well... so i'm going to have to practically blow my budget just to get decor done. .. or do it myself with the help of our family and friends...but i gotta say.. i'm a perfectionist and under the stress of the wedding day i just might alienate my entire family and family to be by being a supreme bitch about getting it done right.... at least with a decorator i never have to see them again, and they are probably used to it.

Well... wish me luck!

Entertainment
I need some interesting ideas!! Help!
So i've decided that I want to spend a bit of money on something memorable for our wedding. The ideal would be a small fireworks show towards the end of the evening. HOWEVER as our venue is a historical site and won't even allow candles on the premesis... i'm assuming that fireworks will bea BIG nono. Also, the area of Vernon is generally on a fire ban due to extreme dry conditions(holy forest fires batman!) So i would probably be prohibited even if i got the proper insurance and permits(and all at the last minute if they wanted! oy!) ... so i'm moving on... and i so far have on the list... photo booth, andcharacturists(if i can find some). Got anything else for me??

Ask a Question
When should the bride and groom leave?
From what i understand the brideand groom bail out of the party well before it shuts down for the night. Our reception starts at 6 for dinner and dancing will start at 8 with the whole thing shutting down at 12midnight.... when do we leave??! Do we have to leave? Or can we shut down the party? Help!

Wedding Dress
I FOUND IT!!
Went shopping with my mom this past week for a wedding dress and she gave me a 3000 dollar budget, which i was more than happy with! I found a dress that was perfect for me too.. it had rouching in all the right places, strapless, no train, not poofy... perfect perfect perfect. And it was way under the budget....So now i have pletny of room for some extra stuff because she still wants to spend more.. she's now buying my maid of honors dress(i was buying it originally) and now.... 2nd dress for the reception? photo booth? What should i ask for!? hehehehe.

Rip Offs!!!
prices of all things 'wedding'
What the heck! Put the tag of 'wedding' on anything when you are talking to anybody and they'll charge you 3 times as much as they would have otherwise.. examples...

So i don't want a dress with poof on the bottom or a train or anything like that.... wedding dresses that i like are a thousand dollars or more... that's fine... however... the same damn dress or one that looks the same under the category of 'bridesmaids dresses' is only like... 200 to 400 dollars.

Example two... flowers.... I went to my local grocery store just to see what they would say for prices(i have already booked with a great florist in town) and i happened to get a young girl(read.. honest) who told me a rose corsage and or boutt. would be 7.50 each. However after that she warned me that if i came in again(closer to the wedding date because they couldn't give me an exact quote so far from the wedding date) and got somebody else to NOT mention that it was for a wedding... to make something... ANYTHING else up because that person might charge me up to triple what she quoted me just because it's a wedding and that's what they do.

Decorations... all of the places in town specifically for weddings and wedding planning will apparently charge me almost 3 times what an all event decorator will charge me.

It's mind boggling... but as my FH said when i mentioned this to him... most people. when they are joyous or grieving... they will pay whatever you want... and the people in the wedding business are not going to argue.

Wedding Flowers
Final Quote and the Flowers that i'm getting
So Harris Flowers in Vernon is truly amazing. Deb is so accomodating and worked with me on my budget to make the flowers that i wanted happen.

My budget was $500 and i asked for 12 centerpieces, 6boutts/corsages and 2 bouquets.... Now i went expensive with the flower choice for the bouquets and and 2 groom and groomsman boutts. Orange Calla Lillies! Looooooove them to pieces. Can't wait to have them in my hand next summer! Also we'll be getting them like the pictures with just the wire. Then we're going with white rose bout and corsages exactly like the photos for the parents(only less beads on the mom ones).

As for the centerpieces they will look mostly like that but with White Spider Mums, Orange Garden Roses, another of the small white flower that is in the photo and those silver things(not sure of the names here!!). Instead of the lime buds on the bottom for greenery she suggested using something else and will be doing a mock up closer to the wedding day to show me what she had in mind and to get my final ok. Also, Deb will be putting the centerpieces together at the wedding venue so that nothing gets wrecked in transit. Amazing service or what?!

So the total, with my slightly more expensive orange callas that i just HAD to have and Deb working to make my budget a reality came to $679 taxes included. I'm very happy with that price and i could have had it a lot lower if i didn't want teh callas... but i did. hehehe

I'm so excited that everything is coming together and now this is one less thing that i have to worry about. I have total faith that Deb from Harris Flowers in Vernon will make things perfect... you know how you just get a 'feeling' that this will work and/or be just what you need.. well i got it from her. Yay!

O'Keefe Ranch Pavillion/Rose Garden
So there are NO pictures on the internet of these things AT ALL so here they are ladies!!!! Anybody looking for photos of the Historic O'keefe Ranch's Greenhow Pavillion and the Rose Garden in Vernon for their wedding venues.. i've got them!!!

However...... I got them on a gloomy, wet, rainy, fall day so it's not super pretty looking, and there are no roses in the garden.... but it gives u an idea on the dimensions and pictures to figure out how u want to decorate it! Enjoy!
