Just Us
This is WAY late, but I figured I've never done it before so here goes....
Even though I've been on WBC for almost a year now, I was reading other brides blogs and I've never really "introduced" us so here it is!!

-How long did you date before you got engaged?
9 months.

-Did you get the ring you wanted?
I never had a ring in mind, he picked it out all by himself.

-Was the proposal a complete surprise?
Yes it was. I had some suspiscions but nothing concrete.

-Do you wish you had a bigger/smaller diamond? If so How big or small?
I love the ring he picked out. I'm not one for big bling type rings.

-Did you cry when he proposed?
A bit because of the way he proposed. I was kind of hormonal because I just had our daughter 10 days before the proposal.

-Was the proposal romantic or creative?
It was both. He proposed on Christmas day after all the presents were opened. He came walking out of the bedroom with our 10 day old daughter. He had it so she was sort of holding the ring.

-Where do you want to go for your honeymoon?
We're not taking a honeymoon. We are considering a family vacation a month or so after the wedding to either Lake Louise or maybe someplace in BC

-Are you buying his wedding band for him?
Our money is together so we went together to buy themm

-Have you gone over your original wedding budget?
Slightly. Not alot though.

-What day of the year will your wedding be?
Our wedding is on Saturday December 11th, 2010

-What kind of weather?
SNOWY......... I really wish, but I highly doubt it'll happen

-Inside or outside?
Definately indoors

-Church/justice of the peace/other?
Church

-How many people will be there?
There should be approx 130 ppl

-Time of day?
Ceremony is at 3 PM

-Any kind of theme?
Wintery wedding with red, white and silver but not too Christmassy

-How many bridesmaids? Who would they be?

MOH, 5 bridesmaids, 1 bestman, 5 groomsmen

MOH - close friend for the past 15 years
Bridesmaids - my 2 oldest daughters, FH's 2 sisters, my cousin
Bestman - FH's closest friend
Groomsmen - 2 very close friends(both of ours), daughters boyfriend, FH's sisters boyfriend, close friend from highschool
Flowergirl - our almost 5 year old daughter
Ring Bearer - our 21 month old son

-What kind of cake/what will it look like?
we are going with cupcakes, hopefully 4 different flavors.

-Where will you have the reception?
Fantasy Farm, a banquet hall in Toronto. It has a medievel look to it

-What kind of dress will you have/color/material?
My dress is an Alfred Angelo dress. White with red trim and a red train

-What kind of flowers in your bouquet?
Red and white cala lillies

-Kind of engagement ring?
Gold, with 9 diamonds plus 1 on the inside. The one inside is in the word "forever" . The diamond is the "o" in the word

-How will you wear your hair?
Still unsure but I'm pretty sure I want it half up and half down with a few curls

-Who will be important to be there?
Everyone! Anyone who is invited is important to us

-Will the reception be big or small?
Medium

-What will the groom wear?
His tux will be black pants, white jacket, white shirt, black vest, red tie

-How long on Honeymoon?
No honeymoon

-How old will you and the groom be?
I wil be 40 (ewwww....) and he will be 32

-How long will you be engaged before you get married?
almost exactly 5 years

-Live together before or wait till married?
Have been living together for 5 years already

-Take a long time to plan the wedding or will it be simple?
Have been planning for about a year and a half. We started it about 3 years ago but put it on hold til now. It was supposed to be simple but it's turning out to be bigger than planned originally

-Will you do it yourself or with family or hire someone to plan the wedding?
We are doing most of it ourselves. We have hired a DOC to help on the day of though.

-Will you write your own vows or use something pre-made?
Definately something pre-made. Neither one of us are much for public speaking so we've gone with the simplest vows we could find. We both get very very shy speaking in public

Sorry ppl, some of it was alot longer than I thought but hey THIS IS US, FInally!!

Table names instead of numbers
Hello ladies! A few weeks ago I posted about using table names instead of numbers. I've been thinking about it and was thinking that it may get confusing for people so I was thinking of trying to use names as well as a picture. I have searched for some pictures that I think would go well. I still have to add the name to each..... ie. snowflake, icicle etc.

Let me know what you think? Do you think this would work?

To paint or not to paint
Again, I need to ask everyone's opinion on something. :)
We bought these amazing beautiful vases from another bride here on WBC. I absolutely love them. We are planning to use them to line the aisle in the church with these branches.

We are doing other trees for the reception and for those ones we painted them white and then sprinkled them with glitter to give them an icy look.

Should we at least paint these too or should we leave them natural?
I was thinking about painting them white but NOT glittering them because we somehow have to get them from the church to the hall. I think the glitter will be a mess for whoever we "recruit" to transport them for us.

What do you think? Paint white or natural?

How to incorporate close friends into the day
I have another question for everyone... please girls any ideas or advice on this one would be really appreciated :)

I have recently re-connected with some friends from my past. One in particular has become very important to me. In the picture from left to right she is the 2nd one. The one with the blue jacket. I re-connected with her through facebook about 2 years ago. She came to my son's baby shower and it was the most amazing feeling to see her again. We had been freinds since we were about 5 or 6 years old and lost contact about 25 years ago. I want so bad to somehow add her into the wedding or at least recognize her in someway. Does anyone have an suggestions?

Also, the others in the photo are friends who I have re-connected with and are all invited to the wedding as well. The guy in the pic is also a friend from my childhood. The three of us grew up together. Last night we went to a JR high school reunion. It was so amazing to see everyone. There are 5 people from that time invited to the wedding and I'd love to recognize the entire table but The 2 from this picture especially.

Why am I feeling so blah about my first fitting?
So they called yesterday to tell me that my dress is in!! Woo hoo, right?? WRONG. I don't know what's wrong with me but I was so not excited about it. They asked me if I want to schedule the fitting and my response was "no, not today. I'll check my schedule and let you know".... WHAT THE HELL KIND OF ANSWER WAS THAT????
What is wrong with me? I mean, I know I am still trying to lose weight and it's been kind of slooooww because we've both (my FH and I) gone way off track with the diet but I should still be excited about my fitting right?
I've been working on my ribbon wands, assembling the last few invitations, ordered the cellophane bags for our hot chocolate favors, went and picked out the style and colors of the tuxes etc so I know it's not the wedding I'm not excited about. It's just the idea of trying on my dress that I am feeling weird about. WHY?? I don't get it. I need to lose another 40 lbs at least by the wedding so I'm not feeling very good about myself. That's the only thing I can think of.

Has anyone else felt this way at any point in the planning?

Ribbon Wands
So I began working on my ribbon wands... you know the ones that I wasn't sure I wanted! lol.... Anyway, so far they're turning out ok. I saw some other ones from other brides and mine look nothing like it so I was a bit confused. I ended up googling it and came across this blog.

http://ribbonwands.blogspot.com/

It's exactly what I did and looks exactly like mine except mine are red and white. Also, I covered the screw eye with ribbon and glued it with the glue gun.
I think that when I make more, the ribbons will be a bit longer though. These ones are about 12 inches but I think I'll make the rest about 3 or 4 inches longer.

Do they look ok?

Anyone know where to get something similar to this?
I've been putting off looking for shoes until now. My dress will be in in 3 weeks and I need to have my shoes for my first fitting. I know that I want red shoes (to match the dress) but I am not looking forward to shopping for them. I see all the beautiful shoes that all you other brides are getting and I wish so bad that I could too but I can't :(
About a year and a half ago I found out that I have severe arthritis in both knees. Some days I can barely walk at all so shoes are not so exciting to me anymore.

I know there's nothing wrong with wearing flats on your wedding day because I know alot of brides do it. I guess I'm just bitter that I'm doing it because I have to and not because I want to. Sorry that I sound bitter, I guess I'm just having a bad day.

Anyway, if any of you have any suggestions on styles or good places to shop for nice flats, please let me know. I'm sure if I see "the right" pair, I'll cheer up abit about it.

Thanks again girls!

I'm thinking about ribbon wands... what do you think?
We're thinking about using DIYing some ribbon wands. We haven't asked the church about confetti but I seriously don't think I want that anyway. I think ribbon wands would be a nice alternative.

Any ideas, suggestion? Is there such a thing as too much DIYing? lol

The finished product!
Our invitations are almost done. We just have to put the rest together but i wanted to show everyone our "sample". Not the greatest pictuers but at least you'll get the idea.

Originally we priced invitations (that we loved) with a wintery kind of scene on them but they were way to expensive for our budget. They were priced at $340.00! We then said.... uh NO! and decided to go check out Michaels. We printed off 2 40% off coupons and away we went. We found these ones which are alot simpler (is that a word?) than the originals but we still liked them.
We bought 2 packages and payed separately, I paid for one and he paid for one! :)

Our total was $74.00!! Yay!! Now we just have to finish them off and mail them out. EEEKK.... scary stuff.

What does everyone think? Are they ok?

Hiding a tattoo
Anyone have any suggestions on what to use to hide a tattoo?
I have a tattoo of a tiger on my back/shoulder. Don't get me wrong, I do love my tattoo and I don't regret getting it but I just don't feel that it's appropriate for my wedding day. I would like to cover it up especially in the church. I have a jacket but I know I won't be wearing it at all times. Has anyone used or heard of any products that work well for covering up tattoos? I'm so afraid of using something that will rub off on my dress or jacket though.

So, we started planning this wedding in November 2009, giving us almost 14 months to plan it. It's my 2nd wedding and FH (Carlos) 1st so it's not small but far from a big wedding. We're aiming for about 125 ppl. which includes a wedding party of 14 plus us! Lots of friends and family together to hopefully have a great time. Seeing the wedding is in December, we're having a red, white and silver theme without having it too "Christmassy"......
