IDEAS
Where do you get yours????
I was just curious where everyone gets their ideas from. I'm creative...but not as much as I would like...so I'm having some trouble coming up with unique ideas and what not. Do you guys just surf around online looking @ diff. sites....look @ wedding mags? What do you think is the best way to get ideas?! HELP ME PLEASE!:)

I think this is a great place to start. Browsing through the picture on theknot.com is a good idea too, I buy all the bridal mags but they are SO full of ads. Once you browse around on the knot and maybe check out some girls planning bios you will see the little extras that when you are not a bride... you never even notice or have seen before. Good Luck!

bascially take the basic idea from other people and weddings and spin it to make it yours and unique :)

All over the place. this site has been great. The Knot, Brides.com, yourweddingcompany.com, askginkacom and lots of weddig magazines.

i think a lot of my ideas are centered on personal taste...i don't really look at this like i'm planning a wedding as much as i'm furnishing an extremely awesome party.  i think if you stop thinking wedding you won't get suckered into the traditional (unless it's traditional you want).  there are all types of wedding sites (including theknot.com) where you can find pictures that suit your taste.  on theknot go to "real weddings" under "planning" and look at the pics of different types of wedding and go from there.  good luck!

When I first started planning, I was clueless to weddings! I just thought of colors I like and googled for pictures. Before long I had a plan figured out. My venue gave me a lot of ideas and inspiration too. I go there after work sometimes and just sit and stare at the chapel & courtyard. It helps me come up with things.

I watched wedding shows, read tons of magazines, checked out web sites, and GOOGLE. Then I pulled different things from everywhere and made it my own! Just be inspired and let your mind do the rest!

Like "emaria" I don't think about a lot of the aspects as "wedding" but more so as a party. I have about 10 Bridal magazines (if you sign up for a yearly subscription its cheap!, I signed up for 1)
I also look at Bios on theknot. I post on the chicago board so those are the profiles I look through (this can be especially helpful if you are looking for good reliable vendors).

This site has given me lots of great ideas as well. When people post things I not only look at that post, I tend to look at the entire profile (especially if they posted something that caught my eye, chances are they probably had more ideas that will be more to my liking).

Weddingchannel.com, brides.com and other sites.

I've also googled a lot of things "tiffany blue wedding, blue wedding, elegant wedding, modern wedding, damask wedding, etc. etc. etc."

I used to plan parties for a company I worked for so research for parties comes pretty naturally.

Good luck, and don't be hesitate to ask the brides on here questions. Mostly everyone is very forthcoming with where they got their ideas.
