Ideal Budget

Hello ladies =')

I am a newbie here. So far I have enjoyed reading every post on this website. I am excited to meet other brides-to-be.

My question is..."What is an ideal budget for a wedding?"
My fiance & I agreed to have a small intimate beach wedding.
However, I am not sure what an ideal budge should be?
Any suggestions or comments??

Thank you ladies,

Lulu

Congrats and welcome to WBC!!
Thats a tough question to answer.. Ull c here there are some ladies that pull off amazing weddings at 5000$ where as others do it with 50000 +
I would say, make a list of all the things u need (pics, video, transportation, clothing, flowers etc etc) and then get quotes. Ull get an idea of what the going rates are and thatll be the best way to see more or less how much ull need to make ur wedding the way you want to. Otherise, if you already have a specific amount in mind, go with that and prioritize.
Good luck!

Welcome!  Your budget depends mainly on 2 things:  (1) what do you want; (2) how much can you afford.  Consider this too:  Will you pay cash or credit?  Because do you really want to be paying for years afterward on something that only lasted a few hours?  What we did was decide what type of wedding we wanted (beach, country club, etc.) & then I took 3 or 4 months to check prices on everything.  You then have to decide how many guests you want to invite & then estimate about 25-35% will decline.  This is important because the food & beverage at your venue will be your single largest expense.  Try to get an all-inclusive that includes the food and alcohol.  Otherwise, unless you have a cash bar, the cost of the alcohol will skyrocket.  Look at renting things also.  That can be less expensive than purchasing items.  You have to decide what's important to you.  Based upon my own planning experience over the last 2 years, I would estimate that you could have a nice beach wedding for 50 people or less for about $10,000 - maybe less.  Hope this helps and good luck!

Hello... welcome!! Firstly, don't let it stress you. I see you have heaps of time to work everything out. As long as you can find a location you are comfortable with for the ceremony and reception and have booked them, there is no reason to get too panicky this far in advance!

Look around, get prices. A beach wedding should be fairly inexpensive. Try searching other beach weddings on here (loveatthebeach is one bride) and see what ideas they have for saving money on decorations etc.

Our wedding is costing about $6000, we are doing most things ourselves. The most expensive part is the food for the reception at $3500. Also, if you can keep your guest list to a minimum, you will save so much more. Intimate weddings are just as much fun, if not more.

Make sure you ask questions her one WBC and we'll try to help!

Welcome to WBC! I as well have a longer engagement due to graduating with my BBA in Aug and recently got engaged 12/22/10. We want a summer wedding so we're getting married 7/20/12. With the amount of time we have to plan for our wedding and the help of these wonderful ladies on this site and other sites like this. You should be able to pull off an amazing wedding for the perfect budget. First you need to discuss your budget with your fiance' and see what you guys can comfortably sacrifice. Take in consideration you don't want to go into a marriage in debt. So if you don't have to charge and pay interest PLEASE don't! Me and my fiance will be opening up a wedding account to make our wedding purchases. We don't wanna go into debt trynna have a wedding because we plan on taking our honeymoon afterwords to Sandals and then saving for our first house. Our budget is $8,000 and if I can do it on less with the amount of time I have till we get married. We will definitely save. I'm gonna do DIY projects such as our invites, centerpieces, and flower arrangements. I have wonderful creative people willing to help. So look to your family members and friends who are creative and ask them to help. You'll save money and add personal touches to your wedding. Me and my fiance' don't want a cookie cutter wedding. We want our wedding to bring out our own personal style. Hope that helps!
