Office Max.....
you maxed me out!
I had posted a blog maybe last week or the week before that I was going to get my Save the Date cards printed at Office Max because I thought it would be cheaper than ordering online, especially since the usual minimum you can order is 100. I was going to print them at home, but I figured I would have to buy more ink and it might add up to the same price as getting them printed anyway. SO! I go to Office Max with my picture and cardstock cards to ask if (1) They can print my Save the Date card in size 4x6, and (2) if they can print the words "Save the Date" on the front of the cards. I asked how much it would be to print the picture (50 of them), and the supposed manager used a calculator and everything and said it would come to about $35.... I thought that wasn't so bad. Then I asked how much it would be to print the "Save the Date" wording on the front of the cards.... she told me, "Well since you aren't getting a whole invitation made, I'd say we'd charge you about $10." COOL! So I thought anyway... So I said okay, she said she would print one and I could look at it and give it a "yay" or "nay" so they could print the rest of them. I also went to their computer ink section and saw that if I bought the ink to do it at home, it would be about $45. Well, given the figures that the manager told me this would cost, you would think I would be able to get these cards for roughly $50 (plus I had spent $20 buying the cardstock and envelopes)... I thought that would be better than buying the ink and wasting my own paper (that wasn't even as good as the paper they were going to print it on) to just have them do it. The next day, I go back, took a look at the card, and it looked pretty decent, so I told them to go ahead and print out the rest. WELL, to my surprise, I go back and find that my grand total for all this was $75!!!! (so altogether my save the dates would have been about $95, just as much as it would have been to order online!) I was like, ummmmmmm, why is this $75??? The lady who had helped me both times was not there when I went back this last time. Apparently the cards themselves came out to about $28 (which I wasn't complaining considering I thought they were going to be $35), but then for freaking reason, to print 3 little words on my cards cost almost $30!!! Can you believe that??? The girl who was trying to explain the charges to me was not very successful. She said something about the fact that it was color ink (dark brown) and something about it being my own paper that I brought in. Well, the lady who helped me both times before that failed to mention that it would be any extra to use my own paper and to print in color ink. After she TOLD me it would be about $10... does that sound like $10 to you??? I was soooooooo angry! And I am usually a very patient customer as I have worked infinity retail jobs and know how people can be. But I feel the manager blatantly lied to my face. She misled me into thinking that the 2 things I asked specifically how much they would be were going to be about $45.... if it was going to cost extra for them to be on my own paper and in brown ink, she should have mentioned that! Then, there was an $8 CUTTING fee, then a $10 fee for I guess the labor. Something about it being $1 per minute it took to make. Wow, I am sure it is such hard work clicking the "print" button... So it has been um, a week or so since I went back. I was supposed to go back over the week to talk to the manager, but I never did. I am debating whether to go back and fight it or just ask for my cards and envelopes back...... Ugh, it's so irritating! I am definitely not spending the $75 on them. I don't know what to do when the person who helped me was the damn manager. Dumbass.
