Office Max Update!
I got into contact with the woman who "helped" me at Office Max. This is what I wrote in an email to her:
I had come in about 2 weeks ago and had Save the Date cards made. When I came in, I asked how much it would cost to have the save the date cards printed. I was told it would be about $38. That was fine. I had also brought in a pack of cardstock to have the words "Save the Date" printed on the front of them. I asked how much that would be. You told me that since I was not getting an entire invitation printed, that I would be charged about $10. That was also fine. Those were the only 2 things I asked to have done. I gave the okay to print them under the impression that I would be spending about $50 on these cards. However, when I came to pick them up, I was told my total was going to be $75. The girl who was there when I came back tried to explain why it was so much, and what I got from what she told me was that there was a charge for me using my own paper and an extra charge for "Save the Date" being printed in colored ink. There was also an $8 cutting fee and another $10 that I can't remember what it was for. Having "Save the Date" printed came out to be a total of almost $30, after I was specifically told that it would be about $10. If it was going to cost extra to use my own cards and for having a few words printed in brown ink, then I should have been informed of this in the beginning when I asked how much it would cost. I am not paying $75 for something I thought was going to be around $50. My order is still sitting in your store and I wish to either only pay the amount I was misled to believe it would be, or I would just like my cards and envelopes back. Thank you.
This is what I received back from her:
I am sorry but I never misled you. When I took your order, I gave you the total cost for the invites. That total was 37.22. You then added the "save the date cards", which I had to typeset and I told you the typesetting would be about 10 dollars. There is an additional fee for printing them. That was .49 per card. I told you that as well. I did not however add up the 50 pieces which totalled 24.50. For an additional cost of 35.50. This was a decision you made at the last minute when placing the order. Total for the order without tax is 71.72. You can cancel the order if you like, but I am unable to give you the cards back. They have the printing on them. I can offer you a 15% discount if you like. This would make the total before tax 60.96. Please feel free to call me if you like. My number is 757.671.1162, otherwise I will have a note here for 15% off.
I basically wrote her back and told her that I still felt misled. She never mentioned the $0.49 per card printing fee. I figured when I asked "How much will that cost?" And she tells me "$10," that would have included the printing. What do I care how much it costs to typeset something? All I care about is how much I am paying in the end. Anywho, I called the Office Max customer service and they said they are sending my complaint to I suppose her manager. They said that she should have gone over the whole quote with me before placing my order (including any other fees, such as the stupid cutting fee). She didn't go over any of that with me. She just told me the figures of $37.22 and the $10. I swear people are so ignorant sometimes. I am supposed to hear back from their manager or something at some point. I really don't care for their services anymore. I'll do the things my damn self if I really have to. However, I DO want my cards and envelopes back which I paid $20 for. Not like that is detrimental, but $20 is $20, and I don't want them to go to waste. Apparently no one else has had this much trouble with Office Max.
