Invites...What do you think?
I just wanted to show you guys the finished product while I had a second. So busy....Almost there!
UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In response to the many questions. I ordered the pocketfolds from www.cardsandpockets.com I order white linen paper for the top layer and inserts and designed each piece in publisher. I ordered white pearlized paper to print the striped motif on. (Yes created the striped pattern using text boxes...It took a little time but it was worth it...I saw an invitation from www.invitationconsultants.com and I ordered a sample and it just wasn't worth the money so I created my own striped pattern and it is incorporated in my favors and programs as well.) I ordered outer and inner envelopes from www.invitationsbydawn.com for mailing. I had all of the layers and inserts cut at Staples so the cuts looked professional. I used permanent adhesive to assemble the layers. If you have any more questions feel free to ask...Thanks! And these were mailed out weeks ago, I just found the time to take a picture of them I found the Scriptina and BlackJack fonts at www.dafont.com |

Bridesmaids Jewelry
FINALLY Decided...Comments Please!
So I have been undecided about my bridesmaids jewelry until yesterday and I finally ordered it from guess where??? Forever21.com
I can't believe I didn't look there sooner. I'm so over the traditional bridesmaids jewelry sold in bridal boutiques...I wanted something they could wear again and I am a fashionista so this is it. Do you like? I also got them the light pink pearl cluster necklace but for some reason I can't upload the pic. But here is the link - http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=FOREVER21&category%5Fname=acc%5Fnecklace&product%5Fid=1060883882&Page=all |

Ask a Question
Groom's Cake - Is it only a Southern Tradition?
Ok Ladies, I was just wondering how many of you are having a groom's cake in addition to your cake. I was speaking to a co-worker that said she had never been to a wedding with 2 cakes and she is from the West Coast. I have never been to a wedding where there was only one cake. There is always a groom's cake and it's usually chocolate. So I was just wondering. Are any of you having a groom's cake???
***UPDATE*** Wow...you learn something new everyday on WBC. That's why I love you guys...lol! Here I was thinking a grooms cake was a MUST have. Well in case anyone was wondering...My groom's cake will either be red velvet or strawberry which are his favorite cake flavors....If you can afford it, I would say surprise your groom. The wedding is always all about the bride...so let him have that ONE thing. He will appreciate it. My FH is a Polo fanatic so I'm getting one of his Polo shirts and matching shoes replicated for his cake. If your guy likes sports...That would be a perfect cake! *****UPDATE***** Here is the history in case you haven't heard of it... Groom's Cake History An Old Tradition for Modern Weddings By Jan Kish If you've attended weddings recently were there was not one but two cakes, you may have enjoyed what appears to be a charming new tradition: the groom's cake. The fact is, the groom's cake isn't new at all. With origins in the 17th century, the groom's cake is really a very old wedding tradition, somehow lost and now rediscovered for the most elegant wedding receptions. The history of the groom's cake is as varied as its flavors and shapes. Some sources say it originally was a rich, dark fruit cake without icing; some say it was a fruit cake with white icing to match the bride's cake which was decorated with spun sugar. Still others take the lore a step further and say the groom's cake became the top layer of the bride's cake and was not served to guests. Instead, it was placed in a tin and drenched in brandy to preserve it for celebration of the couple's first anniversary. Many know the groom's cake as the confection that was wrapped in individual, silver or white boxes monogrammed with the couple's initials and tied with fancy ribbons. These dainty packages were distributed to guests as wedding favors to take home. In the South, the groom's cake tradition has enjoyed renewed popularity in recent years, especially with single, female guests. Legend has it that if they take a slice of the groom's cake and place it beneath their pillows at bedtime, they will dream of their future husbands. Today, remnants of these various traditions remain or have evolved into other wedding customs. For instance, couples still reserve the top layer of the wedding cake for their first anniversary, but it no longer needs to be preserved in brandy. And although the Southern groom's cake customarily was a dark fruit cake, it now comes in any flavor, shape or color. Many couples are designing groom's cakes baked and iced to reflect the groom's hobbies or interests. Original and engaging, grooms cakes have resembled the groom's antique car or cowboy boots, while others in traditional cake shapes have sported hunting scenes or his favorite hole on the golf course. In the past, groom's cakes, which were separate from the bride's cakes, were either cut and wrapped to be eaten after the reception, or they were served from another table for those guests who preferred a darker, richer cake. Today, the groom's cake is still sliced and served separately, usually by a member of the wait staff. Some couples prefer to offer the groom's cake at the rehearsal dinner, a fitting time since the groom's family hosts the occasion. Whatever time or theme you choose for the groom's cake, it is a charming tradition that adds a distinctive, personal touch to your wedding festivities while honoring the man you just married. |

Photo Signature Mat
Hi ladies,
I know many of you have decided to do signature photo mats, but were worried about having enough space for guests to sign. Well I decided to design my own mat and had it printed onto a 18 by 24 glossy foam mount. I inserted one of my engagement pictures into my document and it came out great. It is framable and I left lots of space for signature. The BEST thing about it is it only cost $39.99 to have it done. You can even get a much larger one for $10 or $20 more. I love being creative! |
