Budgeting and first step planning..
Tons of food and open bar for 100+ people = less extravegent decor
I have a lot of people on my side of the family. I mean a lot! I havn't really started planning things yet.. as you can see the wedding is not for 20 months! So anyways.. I made a list of family and close friends on my side and it came to be 65 people. Now, Jordan hasn't made his list yet but I know he has a very large family aswell. We want to have a more simple wedding (meaning not spend very much money!) But still keep it elegant! We just want it to be really fun for us and everyone else. We will probably have the ceremony in a church and then have the reception in some sort of hall or hotel ball room. My dad said he would pay for the wedding, well most of it, but I know my dad doesnt have THAT much money, he'd probably take out a loan to pay for it. But in my eyes I don't want him to go into debt and I know that a wedding is a girl's special day but I'm just not too worried about that too much. I am OK with a simple wedding, It can still be nice and be not very expensive right? My biggest concern with all the people is the food and the bar. That will be the priciest thing to worry about. And there is no way I am going to make people pay for their own drinks, weddings are supposed to be an open bar in my eyes! haha I always looked forward to going to weddings and having that open bar! All that means for me is that we are going to have to keep a safe budget on everything else! All we want is to have fun and celebrate our love with all of our friends and family! But if we did have a large budget and money to spend.. don't think I wouldnt have a beutiful, fancy, high class " look how expensive everything is" wedding! Just cause.

The Proposal
Caesars Palace Bathroom, Halloween Day
It was Around 10:00 am Halloween morning in Las Vegas when I was doing my hair in the hotel bathroom. Jordan was acting all quiet and weird.. he looked upset about something. He tells me he will be right back and that he is going to see his parents down the hall and see how long until they will be all dressed and ready. About 10 minutes later Jordan comes to the room, into the bathroom where I am doing my hair and tells me he has to ask me something. "what do you need to tell me?" I ask. But right before Jordan could say a word I opened up my big fat mouth and started blabbing about how my hair isnt co-opperating with me this morning! I looked at Jordan and noticed he was sweating perfusely and trembling. He said once again " Kristina I have to ask you something." Right then and there I kind of clued into what was REALLY GOIN ON. He looked at me at nervous as a man right before a bisectomy and brought the ring out and put it on the counter and said " OK yes or no?" I looked at him shocked that he had asked me that way at all!! no getting down on one knee, no sweet little romantic quote or confession of his love to me, but that was fine, because I knew how terrified he was and just wanted to know right away, that exact moment what my answer would be!!
BUT THE STORY IS NOT OVER YET.. Turns out Jordan had been planning this engagement for a very long time. That morning while I was still sleeping he had quickly ran down the Las Vegas strip to the Eiffle tower and tried to buy tickets for the gondala ride (is the one where your in a boat and a guy in a black and white stripped shirt has this big long paddle and rows you and your lover slowely down the canal) ANYWAYS the place was closed down due to construction! That was Jordans only plan, thats where he was going to propose! Poor guy no wonder he was scared all his plans fell through and by the time he got back to our room I was already dressed, doing my hair almost ready to go out for the day!! When Jordan was in his parents room getting the ring from them, they were teasing him saying that they were going to follow us around and wait for Jordan to propose and they are going to watch and take pictures... which just made Jordan EVEN MORE NERVOUS! All in all it's a story to tell haha! But when we got back home in Victoria he did get down on one knee and ask me. Twas cute. |
