Glad for the new year to begin
very frusterating end to 2008!!
Hey Ladies,
Hope everyone has had an amazing holiday season! I had a great christmas and I couldnt be happier to see the new year! I had quite a long stressfull year, and the last four days of the new year consisted of nothing but stress! I have not been online for about a month now, and I will explain why. Aside from having the most amazing first year of our engagement (as of christmas day) I have had a few losses and frusterations this year. In August 2008 I lost my grandpa (on dads side) in a horrible car accident in Ontario. He drove under a transport truck and crushed his vehicle and did not manage to survive the head and total body trauma. This was very sad for me as our family had just reconnected and visited for the first time in 10 years the previous april. I will never regret seeing him, and I wish I could have had more opportunity to see him again. In November I also lost my Nana, and that was very hard on me and the last couple months have been aweful , I am extremely guilt ridden and wish I could pick up the phone and call her, I wish I called her more, and I wish I had more opportunity to enjoy her as an adult. you can read about what happened on my preious post titled "just catching up" it is someone of a sweet story, just ahuge loss to my family. She was the grandmother that I was closest with. aside from the 2 deaths in my family , there have been a few minor incidents that have pissed me off in the last week alone. anyone in Canada right now knows that we have a ridicilous amount of snow almost everywhere....now all you ladies that live in other parts of the world are probably thinking "doesnt Canada always have snow?"...well accually we dont, esspecially any body living on Vancouver Island!! I was born and raised in Victoria and I have never seen snow like this except once as a kid...now I cannot handle it I do not know what to do in this weather I am completly helpless, I cannot drive. We spend 5 days at my In-laws house (ten minutes away) because we live on the top on a small mountain and my car cannot climb it in the snow, so for five days the plow never came and we were unable to get home!! very, very annoying!! last week my cell phone, that is only 5 months old decided not to work anylonger....so I took it to the bell store and found out it is hooped..they are sending me a brand new phone, however this will take up to 3 weeks and they have no loner phones available!..this is not the end of the world but a minor inconviennce. So we leave the store and head to the car a little pissed off. We decide "lets go through the Tim Hortons drive through for coffee"..okay sounds great....we get to the window to get our drinks, and .......*** MY CAR DIES, no stearing, no breaks, windows, wipers...its snowing...no cell phone...and Iam at the front of the backed up line!!! sooooo....we get the people in tim hortons to let me use the phone, everyone in the drive through had to back out, and they closed it down, we get my care to the shop and the alternater is gone, so we get it fixed the next day. I pick up the car drive approx. ten blocks from the shop.....AND SHE DIES ON ME ...AGAIN. aso back to the shop we go. and 500 bucks later, my stupid piece of shit car is running! so for the last week I have been slightly frusterated, but now that the new year is here, and our wedding is 4 months away, things are looking up! my Focus, and Resolutions are to make the most of our relationship, laugh lots, love even more, lose 20 more pounds, and somehow come across riches! cheers ladies, wishing you all the best in the new year!! |

December..
WOW..where has the year gone?
Any one who has read my blog knows that last christmas was when we got engaged, and it was super sweet. I remember my mom saying to me (because we were so young still) "you dont have to rush into the wedding wait at least another year and a half"..so of course we listened and booked our wedding pretty much dead on the year and a half mark. Well HOLY SMOKES it has been almost a year already and I cant believe it has gone by sooo quickly, we have gone through so many changes and grown in many ways, our relationship, our jobs, our financial responsibility, our living responsibilities we seem to be always on the go with something. I am so happy to be able to do those things with him, he is truly my best friend and I couldnt think of anything more wonderful than having him by my side always.
WE ARE SUPER EXCITED !, because we are getting "legally married" on saturday..3 sleeps!! I'm trying not to be too excited though because its not our wedding, and Im not changing my name yet or anything like that, we are just submitting our legal information to vital statistics ahead of time, but according to the Canadian Government our status will be married...so that is exciting.....BUTTTTTTT/// Our WEDDING IN MEXICO will be 1000 times more exciting and special! saturday is going to be sweet and simple, our place is all decorated for christmas, tree is up etc. two friends are coming over to witness and they have planned the rest of the night for us so im not to sure what we have instore for that but I know they have planned something fun and romantic. I should be working right now but I am not..Im at work physically but not mentally, I am leaving at 12 to go to a doctors appt. then home to clean our houe spotless so it will be perfect on saturday. Will probably light some nice candles and such, make it pretty and get our friends to take some pictures of the whole thing to later include in our wedding album, as this really is a part of our wedding...just early. I love him, I love him, I love him!! are you all ready for christmas....we are set up and about a 1/4 through presents..Both families are having small inexpensive christmas' this year because we are all going to Mexico in May, so we decided to put most of our money towards that instead of extravagent presents, we set a 30 dollars limit per person and tony and I set 100 dollars for each other. So how many of you are having you first christmas together this year? how have you decorated your trees? so you have anything sentimental on it? Our tree is fake, with built in white lights, we have silver and red christmas balls all sparkly and different but very pretty. we have a couple special ornaments , our Mom's gave us our baby's first christmas balls last year so those are on it..one for me one for Tony, as well as last year I bought a cute little precious moments ornament with a little couple on top of a silver bell that is engraved with "Our first christmas together 2007" other than that though our decorations are pretty generic, tree, little christmas town on the coffee table, wreath on the door, lights and stockings. I Love christmas though, just love the whole season. |

Christmas..
One month today!
Following up with an old post.
I wasnt sure what to get my FH for christmas. well I got it all figured out now, we set a small budget each saying we would spend100 bucks or less on each other in order to save for the wedding. So I am getting him a couple things..although so far I have only gotten a tool set, but I some ideas for the rest. we decided that stockings are expensive, and that we really can go with out 50 dollars worth of candy and chocolate, so as an alternate we are having a small competition between the two of us (all in fun of course) ..let me explain.. We always come up with these great Ideas to spend some time with each other such as go for a hike, horseback riding, fishing etc, but always seem to just end up siting on our ass at home, because one of us doesnt feel like doing it on that day. So we are making coupons for each other, maximum 30 each, 10 of them have to be for the bedroom (just to keep in interesting ) some examples of "regular" coupons are.. For him... Out door adventure (fishing, hiking etc) foot rub get out of the chores free get out of jail free (this one means if iam giving him shit he can use this coupon and I have to drop it right then and there) Friday night fight night boys only barbeque and beer etc etc For her... Full body massage chick flick (mypick) date night (he buys) ladies night (girls only) get out of chores free outdoor adventure (horseback riding, rock climbing etc) etc etc. and for the bed room..Im sure you can all figure that one out. anyways got some thinking to do because our contest is who can be the most creative..there can be doubles, but we thought it was an inexpensive way to have a little fun. anyone else doing something like this? what are you girls getting your FH's for christmas? and what did you ask for for christmas? I told my FH that I want a couple smaller things as well, no jewelery or anytthing like that...l want a new house coat, pajamas, and a couple gift certificates, nothing major at all, but I would relaly be quite happy with a nice card, and dinner. |

Ask a Question
Any girl guide leaders here?
So some of you may laugh and think Im a dork..but I dont care haha I kind of am I suppose..
so as a kid all the way through highschool, I was a member of girl guides (11 years actually) so this year I decided to give back and become a leader..I chose to do pathfinders which are girls 12-14 years old. being younger I am hoping to be a bit of a role model for them, someone they can talk to, but mainly the point of pathfinders is to build individuality, confidence, and leadership. so far its pretty fun. Tony sometimes laugh when I talk about it but he thinks it good. So just wanderin if any of you are somehow involved in girls guides of canada, or even girl scouts in the US? just curious.. cheers |

Just catching up
been a little bit up and down.
Been a while!!!
Thought I would give an update and check on how you all are! Ive been very up and down..but mostly up. but I supposse I will start with the downer.. On the Nov 2nd my 83 year Nana passed away, and as sad as that is it really was pure bliss and we are looking at it as positivley as possible. She went to her church that she has been going to since the day it opened, that day was the 50th anniversary of the church, she was the greeter that day so she went early with baked goods and met all of her fellow church members at the door. She sat through the sirmen and went downstairs afterwards for coffee. there was a choir show that day that she decided to stay for, and after having coffee she went back upstairs to find seat. about fifteen minutes into the show the lady behind her saw her head nod back and assumed my Nana was sleeping. an hour and a half later during intermission her friend was looking for her and someone said "oh isnt that her sitting in the pew over there?" her friend walked up and she was dead. For a lady of her age, who had a bad heart along with many other things it truly was a blessing and she could not have gone in a better place she did not suffer any, and she was exactly where she would want to be. we are sad for ourselves but thankfuly this was not a tradgedy what so ever. I also must brag the Tony was absolutly amazing through the whole thing, I was quite a mess. My mom and I drove up to Kamloops on the third and Tony came up with my dad and sister on the fifth, he was an amazing help to everyone, right down to offering to usher at the funeral Im so lucky to have him! moving on to the good things I have. as previously posted I started my new job and I love it, just like I thought the atmosphere is much better, more proffessional and has many more perks and appreciation than my past area. So I am very happy about that and it has made a huge improvement to my general personality..isnt it sad how our work can actually control our lives without us even knowing it? but my lack of work stress has improved my relationship with Tony 100%..it really is hard to be happy when there is something else holding you back. As you know I am having my dress made. yesterday my MOH and I went for my first fitting..although it was the muslinn fitting and it happened to be peach colored I absolutly fell in love with the design, it is exactly what I want and then some..I very happy with the way it fits my body shape ( I was little worried as I am just shy of five feet tall and a little chubby) but it really it going to be beautiful..simple but very elagent for the beach..and LITE!! I should not be hot in it at all! and the really exciting news that has be slightly weirded out but excited at the same time....we are getting legally married on Dec 6th so in 13 days...it is strainge. we are not exchanging rings, and Im not changing my name yet either but we decided to get it out of the way so we have lots of time to focus on all the last minutes details. SOOOO to sum everything up after being so sad for while I am feeling great right now and could not be happier with life! Soo how are you all how is your planning, lifes, etc? |

ALMOST DONE!!
I think I am ready for the wedding!!
Well i have been a busy little beaver!!
Today is my last day at my currents job (well sort of) I work on the military base in victoria for DND, and i took a better position in another building, i start tommorrow and i am very excited. this is good for many reasons one being that i previously that my mother in law is my boss...WELL THAT IS NO LONGER!! Thanks god!...i mean its great i owe her so much for getting me in, but working with family is just not a good idea at all...especially if they are your boss!! this new place im giong to has much more insentive and training opportunities for me, and the environment seems much, much better. On Monday i went and saw my seamstress, designed my dress and took measurements, she would have a dummy model made out of old material in the next couple weeks for me to come try on, we make and tweaks that need to be done to the design and then i get the material i want and she makes it.. I recieved my favors in the mail very excited they are perfect. now i just have to put the pictures in them and tag them! I am all done my invitations now i just gotta mail them. my girls have there dresses. and the boys out fits are picked out. and now my dress is in the works. needless to day I am DONE now until i head to mexico! the resort is taking care of everything else including flowers, cake, dinner, alcohal, decorations, and anything else with regards to ceremony and reception.I must say i am greatful for having such and easily planned wedding. any one on here who has yet to decide what the want to do for their big day i highly recomend a destination wedding to a resort that will plan it all for you!! We are lucky that the two sets of parents agreed to split the cost of out two week stay in mexico as our wedding gift so thus far we have spent under 2000.00 dollars....not to bad eh!! |

DIY
My Invitions ..finally done them!!
Here they are!
My firs DIY project! really it wasnt even that bad! I made them all my self. My mom said i should have asked the girls for some help..but i didnt only because i was kind of fussy about them. but dont worry they will be helping me with other things. Tony's mom is going to address them all for us because she has amazing writing..and i do not!! they were really easy to make. I bought purple cardstock at michaels and ribbon. that was it!! I believe i spend i total of 25$ to make 60 invitations so they cost me $2.40 each. not to bad! tell me what you think! |

Hair and Make-Up
My styles for my Mexico Wedding
So here are my hair and make up choices. unfortunatly they are carrie, just like everyone else on here...dont get me wrong though i tottally love her!!
anyways, our wedding is on the beach in mexico and i want everything to be light, not over done. I dont want my hair slicked back in product and i dont want my make bold and overpowering. I am VERY LUCKY, my hairdresser ( who happens to be one of my really great friends) is coming to Mexico with us, so she will be doing my hair like the picture i posted, and i will be using clip in extrensions-not for length but for greater volume. I think with my dress this will be a great look. As for my make-up, I will be doing this myself because I am fussy and do not like people touching my face. I use MAC cosmetics already so that is what I will be using, I already have my color palet and it is very similar to the second picture posted. |

Do you live together?
What do you live in, a house, appt, suite?
just curious girlies, i have seen that many of you do and many of you also dont live with your FH.
so without starting any arguments i would like to hear everyones point of views...why didnt you wait to live with him until after the wedding, and why are you waiting? what is your opinion about the opposing option? and if you do live together, do you own a home or a condo? do you live in an apartment? or do you rent a basement suit? and what are you going to live in if you dont reside together already? As for myself, I Do live with my FH, and have been since i graduated high school , so i would have been 18. We live in and "above garage suite" it is a newer one bedroom, quite roomy, huge deck, and cheap rent with everything included. we have a five year plan after the wedding to purchase a house. we are also waiting to see what the military does onces tony is done training. I personally would encourage any one who is considering marriage to live together first. my reasoning for this is that it is such a HUGE change, all of a sudden WA-BAM you have all of these shared responsibilities: Bills, Cleaning, priorties, sharing everything? which can be a shock. also you have to adapt to each others bad habits...do you leave clothes and wet towels on the floor?...does he?..living together will either make or break your relationship and i strongly believe in that. there arecertain things that you need to be comfortable enough to do while living together....for example....every body poops...are you going to comortable enough in your own home to do this, or are you gunna going to be scared he might be discused, and you'll have to drive over to your parents house or the local gas station in order to prevent humiliation? As for my opinion on not residing together until marriage, I have to say, good on you, only because i feel that most people that do this now a-days is due to religion, and if you can hold strong to your religion and beliefs than good for you i applaud that. and if you feel your relationship is strong enough to adapt to this HUGE change than thats great. however, i Personally cannot imagine kick starting my marriage that way. I mean yes i would give anything to go back and spend that first week in your place again, the excitment is amazing. but now i just feel we have grown so much as a couple, and learned so many things about each other i just cant imagine doing it any other way. Alright ladies.....this isnt posted to offend people, i am open to opinion, and i am just curious to know both sides of the fence!!! xoxo |

Ask a Question
What kind of couple are you?
Hey Ladies!
I thought it would be interesting to know what kinds of relationships everyone has. what do you and your FH do together. what are you days generally like? are you a really lovey dovey couple, or do you keep that sort of thing to yourselves? do you guys go out for dates, or would you rather stay home and rent a movie? when it comes to house work is it equal or does one do a little more? do you have the same friends? do you spend alot of time seeing them? As for me and my hunny, I would say we are not big on extreme public displays of affection, we think there is generally a time and place for it. having a little kiss is fine, and holding each others hands is great to, but we are friends with a couple who will start kissing each other in the middle of a conversation..and i personally find it rude, but i dont judge if others are that way..good on you i supose, but please dont do it when im talking to you. Tony and I go out for dates about once a month like dinner and movie, mainly because we are trying to save money so we tend to maybe go for a walk and get a coffee a couple times a week instead, or rent a movie and stay in, or play X-box :) housework...i do more than he does...the reason for this is that i am stubborn...I leave the kitchen and vacuuming to him..dishes floors etc. but when it come to laundry, cleaning the bathroom, and the bedroom I like things a certain way, and dont mind doing them, all his clothes go in the dryer, but so many of mine dont and i just know what does and doesnt so its easier if i do it....he helps me fold. since we were in high school together, we do have many of the same friends and we all hang out, and alot of my friends from high school date his friends..so it works out great! we all see a good amount of each other, generally on weekends there is 6 of us (3 couples) and we rotate places and have BBQS and bombfires, its really fun..the boys all do their things and the ladies well we talk lady bussiness! sooo share with me....what are you guys like? xo |

Ask a Question
What would you do?
So as we are having our wedding in Mexico next may, to avoid any hassle we decided to get married here in Canada first.
the plan is that we will do this but we will not be telling our guests that we are already married, and i will not be changing my name until after the wedding in mexico. I booked the marriage comissonare to come to our house in Decemeber 2008 with just two of our friends as our witness, very simple, as simple as it can be...basically just filling our documents. in the end this is saving us almost 2000 dollars. now my question to you ladies is..... what do we consider our anniversary date? what would you guys do? thanks ladies |

Favors!
Ordered my favors online should have them soon
I ordered these yesterday at momentsofelegance.com after finding the websight from another post!
I thought they were perfect, beach coasters and only 1.50 each, which isnt bad because i only needed 50. I was considering making my favors DIY but I am doing that with my invitations and so far in 3 weeks i have made...well 5.... i dont like doing crafts for this kind of thing because im fussy and feel like i need to take my time. anyways though what do you think? my next question that i need your opinion on is to put a photo in them or thank you note?...or a photo with a thank you? Im also thinking of making little candy bags with a tag on them, so i could do that as the thank you and have a photo in the coaster. Tell me your thoughts. |

Wedding gifts
We got our first wedding present (8months early)
My FH grandpa is such a sweet heart. he came for a visit, and came across and amazing deal on a full set of lagostina pots (400 dollars off) so he bought them for us as our wedding present. He was so thrilled about the deal he got he couldnt wait to give them to us (which was perfect because we REALLY needed them. so yea he gave us our first wedding present on the weekend, well i suppose it is our second as our girft from both sets of parents was paying for out two week stay in mexico for the wedding/honey moon!
it was just relaly exciting. now i just need to learn how to cook! anyone else been given early gifts? what did you get? also destination brides? are you doing a gift registry? we have decided to go against it as people are spending apprx 2000 dollars to come to our wedding. however we are having a small backyeard reception/BBQ style when we return for people who can not afford to travel, and some older relatives who are not in good condition to travel..anyways my mom suggested maybe doing a money tree type thing at the backyard party? anyone else doing something like this? |

Ask a Question
How many of you destination brides are getting legally married in your country before going away for your ceremony?
Hey ladies,
We have a situation... we can not decide whether or not to be legally married before heading down to mexico. in the end getting legally married in canada first will save about 600 bucks, and it is instint when it take about 2-3 months for the documents from mexico to be legal in canada. our wedding is in may and we are considering getting legally married in january. we will not consider this our wedding just the paper work more or less. also by doing this we do not have to have civil ceremony in mexico we can have a vow renewal ceremony which is about 1000 dollars cheaper. what are you all doing? we are def. considering getting married here first. |

The big bad fat issue!
just keeping track
UPPPDATEEE::
Soo the on going issue continues...however...I have TOTALLY nipped the sucker in the ass (the sucker being my mouth and bottomless stomach) I have been eating really well, and drinking a TON of water, infact I even started a water club at work today so we can have bottles water delivered, this way I will have no problem getting it in me! Tony and I got a gym membership together and it was the best thing we have done in while, we have been going minimum four times a week and I am down another 8 pounds..which brings me to 18 pounds total (in 6 months) its not much considering how long but it is still off...soo another 22 pounds left to go too my goal weight, and if I make that and have time to lose some more then I will try but either way I will settle with my accomplishment because Tony thinks I look great as is, and although not always easy I will take that compliment. |

Honeymoon
destination wedding...anyone else have family or friends staying during the honeymoon?
sooooo...Because we are doing a destination wedding in mexico. we are staying for two weeks, and most guests are staying for one. but heres the thing, my parenst and four couples that they know all got married the same year and all of us kids are around the same age so they have decide that they will be staying an extra weeks as well celebrating their 25th anniversary, at the same resort. I really could care less about them staying chances are my hubby and i will meet up with them once or twice for brunch or dinner. The resort is so big that we probably wont even be running into each other at all. and to be honest we have never traveled alone so it will be nice to have my family leaving on the same flight as we are.
just curious if any other destination brides or other brides have family there during their honey moon? and if you find this strange at all..just your opinions. |

( i could never tell his friends this though right?? haha)
I love the stupid smirk he gets on his face when hes trying to take me serioulsy but thinks im tottally overreacting! it pisses me off at the time, but ussually i end up laughing too cause i realize im being ridicualous haha. I love when he gets excited over things like macaroni and cheese! its like christmas for him...add wieners and hes in heaven!! We have this thing we do it goes like this... "OliveJuice"...(I love you) "Elephantchew"...( I love you too) you have to say it in a funny voice though to have the right effect lol he made this up and it kinda stuck with us ! I love when he calls me "Betty" dunno where it came from but it tottaly stuck! its okay though i call him "Stinky" I love when he laughs histarically! I love how he will come sit with me while im having a bath and just talk to me, then he ussually comes and ribs my back! its amazing! I like when we do the deed in random places hahah...come on ladies you know you were thinking it too!! I love how he used to make fun of me for loving country music and he would constantly change the songs in my car.......and now its his favourite thing! ..aweeee yeaaaa!!....its huge turn on for me too!! maybe just because tim mcgraw is a sexy man and i sometimes picture him when tony is singing hahahah..bad i know but w.e you would grab tim mcgraws bum if you had the chance wouldnt you!! I love the amazing conection we have! I love when smiles at me for no reason other than happiness. The Proposal
engaged at 19....wouldnt change it for the world!
So it begins Christmas Morning 2007. We started our morning of at my parents house as that was where we were living at the time. My family and Tony gathered in the living room for coffee and gifts. Everything was going nicely lots of nice presents. Little did I or anyone else know that Tony had put my ring under the christmas tree. When Tony gave me my present I proceeded to open it, when i saw it out of excitment i turned to show my Dad (not noticing that Tony was about to get off the couch next to me and propose). we are young ( will be 21 for the wedding) and at the time we were still nineteen. My Dad takes one look at the ring (also not realizing what was going on) starts laughing and says "that better be for your god damn toe". I laughed not thinking Tony was trying to propose, just thought it was nice present and Tony slowly sat back down beside me and i got a "merry christmas" instead of a "marry me?".
After opening gifts Tony and I went to our room to get ready for breakfast and head over to his parents house. At this time i still hadnt realized what his intention was, and i just thought that i got a nice new ring for christmas. Tony looks at me and says I need that ring back!, i laughed in his face and said no way!, he then said Lyndsie take off the ring and give it to me (at this point I started to clue into what was going on) so i gave him the ring. There we were standing alone in our bedroom wearing our pajamas and Tony got down on one knee and proposed. Of course i said yes, he was so nervous, esspecially after what had already happened with my Dad. So my dad yells down that breakfast is ready, and we head up stairs. I bumped in to my Mom first and told her the big news, she was really happy! but then said "Lyndsie you have to tell your dad". So we are sitting at the table eating christmas breakfast like we do every year and im flashing my ring in my dads face (at this point he has realized what happened and what he had done) hes ignoring me, changing the subject, talking about hockey, and other things. Finally I said "Dad Tony and I are getting married", and he laughed because of what he had done, and said he was happy for us, (he was in a state of shock at this point) but all in all he came to and said congratulations, and that I couldnt choose somebody better than Tony. All in all it didnt go as Tony had planned but i would never change what happened because its unique to us. i am marrying my highschool sweetheart and could never be happier!!! |

Bridesmaids
Found my girls dresses today got them for only 80 dollars!
I was sitting at my desk today at work....clearly working really hard haha, and found a flyer that had said Bryans fashions had their summer blow out sale on everything 50-70 percent off. so myself and MOH checked it out after work, they had some really great dresses some regular 140 dollars on for 55!! (check it out if you are still looking)
Anyways my original plan was to go with chocolate brown dresses but today we fell across these super cute amathyst purple ones, I dont really know who I was trying to fool going with brown anyways because purple has been my favourite color my whole life!! So since we are getting married in mexcio the dresses are knee high cheffon spagetti straped..super cute and they look really nice on everyone. Very simple but very effective, our wedding is very informal anyways and my dress that is being made for me is not a Princess dress at all but is beautiful. I will Post pictures As soon as we have them all ordered in! anyways thought I would share with anyone who is looking for bridesmaid and MOH dresses on a budget ( IE some of your girls are full time sudents) check out Bryans Fashions! My MOH must have tryed on 20 different ones today and the majority were under 100 dollars. and even though my wedding is next May, we went with these ones and they will be here this coming weekend for pick up! cheers |

Calling all "Destination Brides"!!!
Hi Ladies!
So I am wandering if there are anymore of you out there who are having a "Destination Wedding" like myself? Im going to mexico (that picture is actually where my wedding will be) and im just looking for some thoughts and suggestions. mainly on what to get my bridesmaids? I have four of them. And should i feel guilty about them buying their dresses, when they are already spending a large sum of monye to make the trip? I am however spending quite a bit on their gifts so i dont really know what to think? anyone going through this? ....oh and where are you traveling too? cheers! |
