Wedding Dress
ok, gold is definitely in the plans, but....

HELLLLLP! I made the mistake of continuing my search for the perfect gown! Please view an earlier post with the maggie sottero Alison Marie gown, pictured in Antique Gold. That was my first fav! Now I have these. View them and tell me what u'd pick (maybe I should add some pictures of myself later on to get a better idea:-)

I'm biased! I like Jovi, but of course tha tis the one I like because that is the dress I am getting. LOL!!

But if I had to choose another one it would be the first one which is Melissa but in all white.

yes, diva your dress choice is great (wink)! lol

and yes, i like Melissa, but i wasn't sure if the two tone thing would be too much.  I'm considering having some beading added to my dress if i do in fact pick a plain-materialed gown.  I'm a blingy kinda girl:-) not much though, don't want to take away from the effect of the already glamourous feel Maggie gives off, ya know?

You girls aren't helping :-)

ps. and when advising me of which dress is a fav, please keep in mind, i want to pair a birdcage veil with my gown.  Which one would look best with that style of a veil?  maybe a rose or brooch as the facinator?  still unsure about that part....

I'm still feeling the Maggie Sottero dress!!! She is my FAV. My Fav dress is made by her as well!l

But if I had to choose a second (LOL) it would be that Talia dres. I dont' even really like lace but really love that dress!

yes, mrscarter, i was thinking about having some beading added to the train of my very first pick.  and i still may stick to that.  Just sitting at work, with wayyyyyy too much time on my hands, and this is what happened--multiple choices & possibilities!  lol

Other problem is: NONE of these are available in my area to physically view.  I must decide to either travel or take a gamble?  what did some of you other brides do?

Does Melissa come in all white? or ivory?

Just saw your other question. I am taking a gamble! I am in Iraq and of course can't try on wedding dresses here. But I love the jovi. I have seen other ladies with similar body types and it looked FAB! Plus mine won't be an authentic maggie. It will be a knock off ie: custom made. It will be ready by time I come home to visit in December and the way I see it, if I don't love it when I put it on I could always sell it.

They are all beautiful.  Based on your last pic (the Sottero & Midgley you said is out of your price range)  Did you look into Maggie Sottero Margot.  The waist doesn't drop as low but they are similar and the cap sleeves are detachable....I tried this dress andLOVED it in french vanilla (very close to the light gold color)   Here is the link

So many choices!
My favourite for a tall bride would be the Melissa, hands down. So many people would be cut in half by the gathered fabric, but with somebody stauesque, well... it would make a statement, that's for sure. Personally, I would take advantage of the fact that not many people could pull it off.
My second, by FAR, is the Charlotte. It has the gorgeous drop waist pull of fabric that the Melissa goes for, but in a less... modern(?) way. All the bling is simply STUNNING as well. That is another style that only somebody blessed with your height could pull off.
Third, for me, is Jovi. I would choose it for myself (out of all of them), but it suits a lot of body types, and, seeing as how you're going for a birdcage (ie more dramatic) veil, I assume you want to POP! Shake what your momma gave you!
Speaking of bridcage veils, the Charlotte would look STUNNING with one. It is classic, but statuesque enough to both play off your body type and play off the old hollywood.
AND, you wouldn't have to add ANY bling... which would make it easier.

So, (basically) I think if you want to go for an eye grabbing, modern(er) sleek look, go for Melissa. The Charlotte would look better with your birdcage, and lend some femininity and bling to your tall self.

thanks turtles!  you provided a lot of informative information in this one.  i still haven't narrowed down the dress.  its sooooooo darn hard!  but i better get going so that i may order it soon!

unpredictablebride:  that is soooo true!  problem is my area is wayyy too limited for what i'm looking for.  I can't wait to escape this place (lol) in the meantime, what on earth do i do?  plan a trip at least 100 miles away?  by the way, what's the furthest any of you have gone for the dress of your dreams????  i'm curious, and need to know that i'm not a whack job ('cause i'm ready to book a flight if this keeps up!  lol)
