Groom attire
Kilts

My FH and my son are wearing Kilts on the big day...This is his only request everything else he is open too...

The kilts are red...(hence the red themed wedding)
my son's attire will match his dad (like father like son)

I am not sure what i am going to do about the best man and grooms men attire...I wanted them to wear Tux and just have my FH and son wear kilts...but he is pretty adamant that he wants his boys to wear kilts as well...but then my man will blend in...and he is suppose to stand out

hmmmmmmmmmm

just going to have to keep working on FH and maybe he will cave and let his boys wear a Tux...

woooooooow I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE kilts and that's a great choice, wich tartan will you pick?. My FH is wearing his kilt as well and all the man in the family since they are Scottish, I cannot wait to see him wearing his complete Scottish attire. Post pics when you have them I'm sure your FH and son will look magnificient!!!!

I love this idea....unfortunately it will only be my dad and possibly my brother wearing their kilts at my wedding.

To make your FH stand out you could have the groomsmen with a different type of sporran like in this photo

or maybe even have the groomsmen in black kilts like this one

Kilts are really expensive if your buying them. Just so you know. My family is 100% scottish (my brothers and father were born there) and they each have their own kilts and for the full outfit it cost most of them $4000. Rentals are always an option but it's hard to get them to actually be true to the correct tartan. If they don't match that's totally fine. Tartan's run through the female line so my dad, 3 of my brothers and my other brother all have different tartans. It's not uncommon for their to be a wild variance in tartans.

I like the idea of doing a different sporran (although technically they should wear a formal daytime one to the ceremony and a nighttime one to the reception but rarely do people do that).

You could always choose different jackets for them and make your groom different that way. Like your FH could wear a Prince Charlie and the groomsmen could wear an Argyle.  Just a suggestion. I don't really recommend the black kilts as those are a SUPER casual kilt and are not formal wear.

If you want to get your groom a great and unique gift, you should get him a Sgian Dubh (it's called a kilt knife in north america). It's a small knife that goes in the right sock and is the definition of a true scotsman.
