Ask a Question
Are boutonnieres necessary?
I was picking out flowers for my bridesmaids when I thought, "oh yeah, the guys are going to need some too!" But then I thought, "Really? Do they need them?" I dunno, it's seems too Prom-ish to me... My finace could care less. What do you all think?? Are my guys going to look silly without one?

My Floral hairpiece
I made this flora headpiece for my wedding and I love it!
I got everything at Michael's all for less than $8, and that's being conservative! I used a hot glue gun to glue the flowers to the haircomb, and then I used a tacky craft glue to glue the feathers and pearls. Let everything dry overnight and its all done! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

DIY Wedding
Dyeing the crinoline
I initially wanted a black and white wedding. But looking at all thoes beautiful dyed crinoline's online I knew I had to have one.
It was so easy! Time consuming but really not as hard as I initially thought it would be. Here's how I did it: What you need: 1-3 boxes of fabric dye, rubber or latex gloves, and a friend. I used my washing machine for this but there are other methods, if you just read the instructions. 1. ![]() I really wanted to make it bright, so I used 3 boxes 2. So I mixed the dye according to the directions on the box. ![]() 3. You have to Get the Crinoline wet prior to dyeing, so while my washing maching was filling up with hot water, I dipped it in there. (BEFORE I put the dye in!) This was probably the hardest part because my washing machine is in the garage, so I wasn't able to take it to a sink. So it sucks, I put the crinny in there, took it out and the water was FREAKING HOT!!! So if you're going to do this, have a better plan to get the Crinny wet before. 4. After your washing machine has filled up with hot water, pour in your pre-mixed dye and 1 tbsp. of washing detergent, let it agitate for a half a minute or so to make sure the dye and water are mixed. 5. Once it's mixed, put that baby in there! Spread it out as much as you can in the machine. Make sure you are wearing gloves! ![]() 6. Your crinny needs to soak for at least 30 minutes, so when your wash cycle is up, start it again before any rinsing. I was lucky enought to have an "Autosoak" feature on my washer. So use it if you have it! ![]() 7. While its in the wash cycle, periodically check on it and un twist it-- We dont want a tie-dye effect! (or leave it in case that is the look you're looking for. ![]() 8. After your second wash cycle and rinse cycles have ran there course, take out your crinny and let it air-dry. ![]() 9. Viola! you're done! I was absolutley IN LOVE with my crinny once I saw it! I was the perfect color I was looking for!! Here are some Before and Afters (I apologize for the ugly signs and crap in the background, like I said my washing machine is in the garage): ![]() ![]() This is after it dried overnight: ![]() ![]() So if you're think of doing this: DO IT! There are so many colors and If you're looking for a specific color, rit will do a FREE color match for you!! http://www.ritdye.com |
