I started working part time at a yarn and knitting store last week. AND then I got a call about working as a professor at a college in the area starting in January. I will adjunct for the Spring semester, and possibly go to full time in the fall if I do not go to law school. Yea! Progress :) ***DO what you love. LOVE what you do.***

***UPDATE: We both decided on the second one, but they only have it in full not twin, so it's back to the drawing board...*** Here are pictures of what we have in Greg's office/ our guest bedroom. We only have one guest bed. Our other bedroom in my getting ready area with my vanity, and my extra closet space (Lucky me!). To go with this stuff (the desk, bookshelf with football stuff, and hung up Gators flag) which bedding do you like best? It's a twin bed, which I know is small for his big tall guy guests, but it's good for now, and not on our priority of furniture to update. (First for me is a new couch! and a dining room table!) SO- considering the room it is going in, which bedding do you like best? I am thinking something simple- with a stripe detail- and nothing too "frilly", very casual. 1-Description: "Is your signature style unique yet classic, with unexpected accents? ***UPDATE: Number 2 it is :) *** We need to pick out: One set for our bedroom and One set for guest bedroom Our bedroom is done in blue and brown. I am not sure what colors we will use for the guest bedroom. It is also Greg's office, so it has all of his football stuff. We have a twin bed in there for guests. I will probably end up matching the bedding to all of his Florida Gators football stuff, which is blue and orange, and keeping it more simple- for the boys. I will post those choices in another post... Out of these- which do you like best for our bedding? 1- The more I look at it- it's too muted, and not enough blue and brown. So 1 is out. 2- Description: Color wise- I am leaning toward the Waterford Mullinger- the description says it "evokes elegance with a discreet Jacobean pattern in a soft blue and chocolat'e colorway. Taffeta accents add texture and interest." 3- Description: "A gorgeous botanical print splays across the soft cream background of the Lindsay collection. Our two dogs sleep with us- and I have learned the hard way (by losing two super nice white down comforters) that the best idea is to have all nice bedding removed from the bed before they jump up :) ~*~*~*~* SO- which do you like- 2,3,4 or 5? I am just now really getting into the whole registry thing. And yes- I have caught the bug! I'm loving it... We registered at Target for a few fun gadget-type things- a grill, an iced tea maker, a juicer, etc... Macy's is where we are getting most of our things from. I am picking out our fine china, entertaining dishes, and every day dish wear. I am also selecting bedding, towels, home decorations and more. I ordered it from Victoria's Secret today. I had noticed it awhile ago and thought it was PERFECT, but it was a bit too pricy for what I wanted to spend. Then it went on sale. I was happy, but it was still a bit high for my liking. Today I got an extra 25 percent off any one item coupon in my email, and I knew this would be the best deal I could get. I am going to wear this outfit for the pin up shots. I will wear peep toes heels and possibly some pearls. I will also wear one of Greg's Gators jerseys for some football shots- especially for his addiction :) Luckily I don't have to spend any money for that- I will just steal it out of his closet to borrow! One more thing down! Wahooo. And still 253 days to go :( I think I am TOO organized haha...

What do you think of the pink ballerina costume (pictured left)? It's on sale for only $29.95, which is great because so many costumes are so overpriced. And who wants to be the same thing for more than one year?! SO- is it worth getting? All I would need to get with it are clear heels and maybe a little tiara. I just don't know if it's too "costume"y. I kinda like to put a bunch of different things together... I also like the two different camisole leotards- so pretty. BUT- the more I think about it, for where I am going that night, these are all too much. For now- I'm going to keep looking. I will add ideas as I come across them...

My response: "I'm so glad you brought this issue up- as it has been on my mind a lot recently- I am in a similar situation. I moved here with my fiance when he got a promotion, which was right after I finished my MA degree. Time wise- with working for a university- we moved when the fall semester had already been all hired for, and I had to leave my job behind that I had set up at the university there- as an adjunct professor and college tutor. I have to wait until the Spring semester starts here to do the same work, adjunct and college tutor, so for the time being I am focusing on setting up the house, doing housework, packing his lunch and making dinner, going to the gym with him- basically establishing my routine and taking care of him. And I do love it for now. It will be nice to get back to academic pursuits once the Spring semester starts. Even when I am working it is flexible hours and pretty much part time. Sometimes I feel guilty knowing my fiance works full time and brings in a great income. But I have to remind myself that I put off getting my PhD right away, which will allow me to become a full time tenured professor, to move here for his promotion- which assists us greatly finance wise. I just keep it in the back of my mind that I am doing what is best for our relationship, and that I have plenty of time to still get my PhD, and I try to keep myself busy and productive in the meantime. And my parents are taking care of the wedding- so that is SO sweet of them :) I just feel really grateful that I have such supportive loving people in my life that take care of me, and I do what I can to take care of them too." I know it's long-winded, but it explains a lot about my current lifestyle/situation and how it affects the wedding and planning for it. :)

Daily Inspiration - Beauty- in its variety of forms

And along those same lines of the various forms of beauty- I am contemplating my Halloween attire. I know I want something ladylike- with the same vibe as this: and this mixed with this and a little of this I'm thinking of combining a pin up vibe with a ballerina and mixing in a little bit of glamour. I know I know- it sounds totally crazy- but I have an artistic image in my mind, and in cases like this, if I just go with it it ends up turning out pretty cool (like my all-time favorite punk rock costume that I threw together for one halloween in college). I am going to look online for inspiration and ideas... It's not that I necessarily want a "costume" per say (i.e. "nurse", "school girl", "cop"), but rather that I would like to utilize the opportunity to wear something unexpected and out of the ordinary for me- to get to push the boundaries a bit. I found a cute Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader costume online, and while I know Greg would just love it, it just isn't something I would LOVE for Halloween [which happens to be a very important holiday to me personally :) ] I would much rather order it to wear in my boudoir photos for Greg ;) That way he can appreciate it all to himself... ANY suggestions and advice are, as always, welcome ! What are you girls going to be? What are your Halloween plans?

I baked my first batch of Halloween Funfetti cupcakes today. Some are for Greg, and we are going to bring the rest over to our lovely town home staff. If you have never tried them, you should! They make special mixes for holidays- with colored bits of sprinkles you stir right into the mix and matching frosting. I love days like this- lazy Sundays where we sleep in, get breakfast at Bob Evans, come back and just hang around the house- enjoying each other's company and spending time with the dogs. Greg is watching football, I am baking and blogging (perfect combo haha), and we are going to grill out some yummy salmon tonight. Life just doesn't get much better- gotta love the simple things! ~*~*~*~*~* My news goals as a "soon-to-be-wife" are: -To clean the house each week (various tasks split up each day). -To cook dinner for Greg and me Monday through Friday night after we get back from the gym. -To pack Greg's lunch Sunday through Thursday night for him to take to work with him each day (I even bought cute little fall Tupperwear containers and Halloween themed ziplock bags- I am such a nerd haha. It doesn't take much to get me excited!) -To set the coffee maker timer each night Sun through Thursday for Greg to have coffee ready for him when he gets up for work, and set him out a clean coffee mug (incase I am feeling lazy and want to sleep in that day hehe). ~*~*~*~*~* What are you goals- "housewife"-wise or other wise for your marriage?

Movie Suggestion - Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist

Greg was gone on Saturday- he had to go to his friend's wedding. I took the LSATS, and as a treat for myself after my hard work, I went to see a movie I was super excited about- and one that Greg would never want to see with me haha. First of all, I LOVE all things involving Michael Cera. It's no secret that Arrested Development is my all-time favorite show, and I have every episode ever made on dvd. He's just charming and sweet and funny without trying to be, and seems like he would be such a nice guy. I also love indie music, and that is what a big part of this movie was about. Bottom line- it was amazing. So cute and fun and about real people- it just brought back memories of being a teenager, driving around on weekends and going to shows in downtown DC. The movie is set in New York City and the characters live in the suburbs and go into the city to see music, and it just reminded me so much of my high school years. GO see it! If you love indie bands, seeing live music, and cruising around in the city with your friends, looking for a good time- you will love it :)

We stopped off at a local farmers market, and got some pumpkins to add to our fall decorations! It really makes the house feel like a "home". PS We tried the new pumpkin pie blizzard from Dairy Queen tonight, and it is wonderful (for anyone who love pumpkin stuff as much as I do). Gotta love the fall season!

I am moving in a different direction with the wedding as a whole- focusing more on the elegant, sophisticated vibe rather than the overly focusing on opulent details. These are the cakes I found that I LOVE. The first one is just perfect! I love how the monogram is right on the cake- no need for a cake topper. It is simple and beautiful- and the brooch just takes it to a whole other level! Tres chic! We are having our cake tasting close to Christmas- when we are in the area to visit family. I can't wait!

While I admit that these sheets are a bit "much" all together, I think if you placed them in a room with more subdued furniture it would really look great (minus the pink striped sheet). Perfect for a guest bedroom! We could really play up the Parisian vibe in there, as we like to keep our own bedroom very serene- with white and blue colors for a calm vibe. They remind me of my best friend Krissy- which is perfect because she will probably (hopefully) be the one who comes to visit the most! In that room now I have my "getting ready" area- with my vanity and chair, white chifarobe for extra closet space, and a white bench. We will need to get some sort of day bed for guests. The vibe in that room is very "shabby chic." Our other guest room will be Greg's office as well. We have it set up in our house now as his "man's room". There is a bed in there for his guy friends that come visit, and he has a bookshelf displaying all of his football stuff. I'm going to start collecting home ideas on The Nest. Great- another website to get addicted to ;)
