Honeymoon
Where to go? We can't afford it....

We REALLY want to go on a honeymoon a few days after the wedding, but we cant afford it. All the ones I looked for were wayyy to expensive. With us paying for most of the wedding doesnt leave us with much money left over for a honeymoon.

We plan on doing a wishing well since we live together and dont need anything for our place, but then that means I have to wait to see how much we actually end up with before we can even book anything!!

For all you ladies who do plan on going on a honeymoon where are you going and who did you book it with? How do you plan on paying for it? Any advice would be helpful!

I am going through the same thing. Me and My FH are counting on Tax Refunds to foot that bill. We gave ourselves a 2000 limit for everything. Unfortunately everything is way over that, so we went up to 2500. I also found a site (www.honeyfund.com), it's a gift registry. Your friends and family can go on and donate like they are purchasing gifts. And the good thing is you can set your own payments. I have mines set at $10 (only 4...lol) to $100. Just check it out, I'm sure you will like it. Good Luck!!!

I know how you feel. Though we are not really paying for our wedding ourselves, we don't really have the extra money to spend on a honeymoon. We already decided to use our tax refund to pay a big chunk on my credit cards because my FH decided we needed a $1300 dog (not so happy about it), so I want that paid off ASAP. If he gets this backpay that we are hoping he gets, we may use that to go towards a little trip... I am also thinking of setting up a honeyfund account. We already live together, and though it'd be nice to get a few new things here and there, we really don't need everything on our registry, and a lot of it is stuff we can get ourselves at some point.

I apologize in advance for the novel...

Hey - We are kinda in the same boat. We are paying for our wedding, and moving out on our own for the first time, so we'll need money for a few furniture items and our registry for smaller things. Since we have so many things a good chunk of money could be spent on other than the honeymoon that will last only a few days (debt, savings, furniture), and yet still really want one, we've decided to only go on a honeymoon if we can raise the money from things other than our day jobs.

So far, we've been doing this project for a month and have raised $2,482.92. Our goal is $3500 and we still have 16 months to go. However, $1,890.00 of that was a Christmas gift from his Oma, but still, we ourselves have raised $592.00 in a month! We are saving extra change (it might seem cheap, but we've earned over 20 dollars in a month just from actually picking up that little bit of change you see on the ground), I have another blog and Karl has a Webcomic that we have Adsense by google on (we get payed for every time ppl click on an ad on our page), some of that is Christmas money from my family, textbook sales, ebay sales, GST return - just really tons of little things that ADD UP!

This is our earnings so far and how we got them:

Honeymoon Contributions

Christmas Money $65.00
Purse Sale to My Sister $15.00
Savings Account Interest $19.20
Adsense $33.20
Textbooks $268.00
Christmas Money From Oma $1,890.00
GST Return $60.00
Karls Ipods $40.00
Odd Jobs $15.00
Extra Change Loose $77.52
Total Honeymoon Savings $2,482.92
Total Without Oma's Money $592.92
Goal:   $3500.00

My blogger blog follows our savings as we earn more if you want to follow and get more ideas as we discover them. (www.journeyofloveandfaith.blogspot.com). Sorry for the novel, but hopefully you can earn some money to put towards your honeymoon too! I think ours will be even more rewarding than if we used our savings to pay for it, because we worked hard to find creative ways to earn it and still put our normal daily jobs earnings to other more important things!

O, I forgot to mention I also considered the Honeymoon registry thing, and I think its great if we didnt need a normal registry. Some feedback I've heard about it is though, to create another small 'traditional' registry for people who arent comfortable with the honeymoon registry (or basically giving money). That way they have an option between the two.

My FH and I have always wanted to go to Jamaica, but it's always seemed unrealistic because of our budget. A friend of ours was married over the summer, and they used www.cheapcaribbean.com to book their honeymoon. (There are more destinations than just the Caribbean). This is the site for a budget. They have VERY CHEAP rates for ALL INCLUSIVE resorts (Including AIRFARE!). They had a great time, with nothing but wonderful things to say about this site. There are also plenty of reviews to be found on the net if you are skeptical. I can't wait to go on the honeymoon of our dreams! Hope this helps...

We are the same so we opted for a mini moon on a channel island :) Flights are cheap as they only take an hour (way cheaper than a ferry) and there are some lovely guesthouses around. I'm a fashion student and am making duplicates of my collection this summer to sell and then pay towards the food and activities (jetski!!) whilst H2B is doing extra freelance work for the flights and hotel. All the best!!

Oops Just realised your not in the UK so the islands will take considerably more than an hour! Perhaps there are 'local' islands to you!? ahh now I'm no help!!
